This game is a do or die for Mohammad Hafeez as far as his career is concerned. If he doesn't perform then I guess he will be one of those first old players to be shown the door forever and this time it will be literally forever. So this will be a big big game for mr. professor.:usman

Also sir Azhar Ali.:azhar2
 
If don't see anyone better in Pakistan ready to replace him.
 
No it doesnt even if we are disgraced today, HAfeez would still keep playing
 
A few players place in the ODI team needs to be decided upon after this tournament. Hafeez, Azhar, Wahab Their place needs to be looked at and possibly they need to be permanently excluded to allow young guns in the team.
 
might end up being the captain. Then u will see all chaddi buddies back in the team. Gul, kamran, umar akmal

Players who can play the modern game... Haris sohail and Umar Amin displayed their ability to score quick and big, especially better than hafeez in every match played in the pakistan cup...

Hafeez is an arrogant senior who will not change his batting style regardless of situation, need to be shown the door long ago...
 
if he doesnt do well today and team still wins... if on the verge of getting dropped for semis, he will get injured and sit out...will remain in the team till 2019 CWC...
 
His career has hanged on many games before

If this was a competent cricket board Hafeez would have been gone a long time ago. With the PCB, I'm sure he will continue to play till the world cup, and maybe even more
 
Well if that's the case good for him as Srilanka is one of the few teams he has had some success against.

To be honest though, I don't think his career is under threat right now. He just bowled us to a win against South Africa. The thing is captain and coach need to tell him if you are going to play in the top order you have to perform as a top order batsman or else him in top 4 is a big waste.
 
of the tumors that pulled us this down in the rankings, 2 are left in the current XI, Haffez and Azhar.... both need to be shut out for good.

Umar Amin, Harris Sohail, Fahim Ashraf, Rumman Raees and Fakhar Zaman shld all be in the 15 at all times.
add Babar Azam, Shadab, Hassan Ali, Aamir, Junaid, Imad to the 15 as well.

Sarfraz, Malik to make the 13.

so need 2 more ... ideally an off spinner and def an opener.... so lets see who can fight for tht spot

Azhar (LOI), haffez, wahab, akmal brothers and selfie-boy shld be banned from all cricket and shld not even picked for domestic tournaments... let PSL team play them if they want but any otehr compitition , kick em out
 
No he had a decent enough game against South Africa.

This is a bowling line up hafeez could thrive on esp on a small ground . Big chance to for him today .

I think he is in grave danger of loosing his place for a series or two if he does not perform today....!!
 
It's a teavesty Harris Sohail is not playing and this guy played all matches.. If Pakistan go into the semi's Harris Sohail needs to replace him in the playing 11 to have any chance against england

he is horribly out of form in this series. His timing is completely out of whack.
 
There is no reason to hold Haris Sohail out for Hafeez.

The bowling isn't that substantial to waste a batting spot.

His 'form' seems to fluctuate very fast... just a few weeks ago he was bashing West Indies and feasting on domestic bowlers in the Pakistan Cup.

Perhaps it's not 'form' that is the problem...? :hafeez
 
Inzamam is an incompetent selector for selecting this crap. It's sickening to see him bat.
 
I pray to god this is the last time I seen this garbage player. We should all tweet at him to retire maybe then he will realize he is done.

He will continue to play. Shehzad, Azhar Ali, Sarfraz are all considered youngsters to Pakistani selectors and no Pakistani team has stepped into the ground without the blessing of "seniors"😇

When asked about Pakistan players' reluctance to retire, Hafeez said he would not hang around if he felt he wasn't able to perform. "I will definitely think about [retirement] when my time comes. I am 36 right now. I believe that my performances and fitness are justifying my place for Pakistan. I will only play until I feel I can match the level of performances I expect of myself."


Hafeez, in that case I can only think that you set yourself very low standards. Whatever the case, it's time for you to go.

Do players like Mohammad Hafeez feel entitled?

Honestly this question is bugging me a lot right now.

I don't see passion in them or the body language of winners and achievers. They are in the team because they feel they are senior and are entitled to play whatever and however they want and hence make no effort to win the game.
 
I agree. His attitude and ego is a big problem. He is too full of himself.

On what basis hafeez is still in the team ? we literally start with 2 wickets down with azhar hafeez doing absolutely nothing and putting pressure on young babar azam.
Enough is enough how you guys are tolerating Azhar Ali, Mohammad hafeez and choker Shoaib ?

what could have been a simple match we made it seem like we chasing 444!

That's sad reality. No one in PCB has courage and future insight to kick these losers out of team who have their legs shivering moment they face a quality team.

Pakistan crickets success is at stake.

If he scores a half century or higher then he will be picked for the 2019 World Cup for "experience" mark my words. From there he will be the same thorn in the side as he was here. What's worse is that the World Cup is way bigger.

Poor Harris has been sitting in the back for too long, he will be the third best Pakistani batsman of all time after Miandad, and Babar.

Ideally Hafeez should be discarded regardless of tomorrow's failure but I doubt it will happen.

The guy has some deep rooted strings into PCB administration and even if he'll be dropped for the next series he will most definitely make a comeback and most definitely play 2019 WC.

The guy is the biggest leech in Pakistan Cricket....
 
He is playing the next two world cups. He is next Afridi whom the team has to carry on as a burden

As cruel as it may sound, its true. What have Pakistani fans done to deserve evergreen players like younis khan (ODIs) , afridi and now hafeez and azhar.
 
PCT must be the only team that's always tries to carry more than 2 passengers in the team,ICT is second in that regard.

Mr.Hafeez, is a clever fellow. And, that's is why he's called, a Professor. You know what, next is a 5 match series, against Sri Lanka. And we all know, how it's going to work.

He'll make sure, he scores 2 50's and 1 century, at the very least. And book the ticket for the tour of New Zealand. He plays well, on those small grounds. Then , you guys play with Zimbs, and home series against Aus and NZ. Only one away tour till the WC'19, which is the tour of SA.

As hard as you try, you are stuck with him till the WC'19. Disgusting, but it's a reality.

He's no different to Misbah and Afridi.
 
This senior mentality has killed our cricket and will further sink us to a new low.
 
I am pretty sure many of you guys will be praising him if and only if he somehow comes up with a decent innings today. it's not just the team selection but it's our problem as a nation. we have very very short memories

Hafeez will be in team come 2 years time in world cup.. as his experience of english conditions will be vital to the team :)
 
It will be a blessing in disguise, like 2015 world cup and Champions trophy 2013, Pakistan and SA are very blessed teams.
 
Hafeez will continue to play in the future. He has strong relationships with selectors.
Above all, his strike rate is low so he can make a comeback in Tests and hijack spot number 4 in the batting lineup.
 
hafeez would be decent as a bowling all rounder but batting in the top 4 he is a liability at this stage
 
today sarfaraz should promote himself if quick wickets fall to hafeez's position
