Mohammad Rizwan's performance watch as captain of Multan Sultans

This team won't do much with this bowling attack . . They need to get Imran Tahir in and potentially also Usman Qadir . .

Captain fantastic!

Leading from the front and if he continues like this, he may be Babar Azam's replacement for Pakistan T20 squad as well.

Shame on Karachi Kings for wasting Rizwan for last three years, Masha'Allah Rizwan captaincy is next level at the moment.

A very wise decision and one of the reasons why they are through to the PSL final for the first time.

What a great and unique gamble that was! From a low level pick, they made him captain when nobody wanted him in the XI, dropped their top scorer and now with the benefit of hindsight we can safely say that whoever took that decision deserved plaudits.

Lead KPK to national T20 cup title and now have taken MS to the finals. Have shown with emerging teams as well as Pak A that he has a pretty good cricketing mind and it was a really good decision from MS management to appoint him the captain.

Babar's reaction when Riz was about to take that silly DRS!

A rare duck for Rizwan against PZ. His side is in deep troubles now. Just faced 3 deliveries today.

Rizwan played a masterstroke by sending Malan at number 4 instead of the opener. That was a move that paid off big time but unfortunately, other players failed to cash in on that. Multan should have won this game courtesy Rizwan's plan.

Rizwan has definitely done some things right here to to at the top of the table without having any world-class bowler in their line up.

---------------------------------

Misbah-ul-Haq speaking during a TV show:
"We have seen Rizwan in domestic cricket as well. He utilizes his resources very effectively and remembers the match-ups. He knows the strengths of his bowlers and is familiar with the ground conditions. He pays great attention to these details during the game. Just like MS Dhoni, who was a wicketkeeper, Rizwan often gets work done from his Part-time bowlers that others couldn’t get done from their specialist bowlers. This strategy is clearly visible in Rizwan’s approach."

"Consider the last PSL, where he got a fantastic performance from Khushdil Shah. He was bowling during the power play, and the conditions were suiting him. If you look at the current scenario, his young bowler, Abbas Afridi, has been delivering very good performances for the last two seasons."

"So, Rizwan is executing the utilization of resources very well. This is one of the reasons why we are seeing such a high win percentage for Multan Sultans."

Dhoni's record in ICC events is overrated.
LOL what?
How many ICC trophies had India before he became Captain or since he has left?
He as Captain won 3 ICC trophies I think. Rizwan can only dream of that.

There is 0% comparison between them.

Rizwan has now completed his 50 off 39 balls against Quetta Gladiators. He started off with a strike rate of more than 200 but now he has slowed down considerably.

Same story, get your 50 and when time comes to really starts hitting he gets out, same like his mate Babar.

MS look so average on paper yet they piling up win after win

Man he is the best captain in our domestic system, should take over Pakistans captaincy

Glad he is giving chances to other players, such a basic standard across the world but not in Pakistan for some reason so it's nice to see it

The greatest wicket keeper batsmen in the history of Pakistan cricket. One of the highest ever average wicket keeper batsmen from Asia in overseas conditions.

And now he is demonstrating he is probably one of the best captains available in the country. Leading a side that looks weaker than the others on paper into a juggernaut that can not be beaten.

Rizwan the GOAT.

Ian Bishop on Rizwan as captain:

"I think Rizwan has been spectacular. He really has been."

"He's put himself in the hardest spots to field. When the young wrist spinner was bowling, he was right at mid-off."

"And that's where you have to be as a captain for young bowlers, advising them almost every couple of deliveries because they're unbelievable, they're young. And this is what we saw from Rizwan here tonight. "

"Encouraging fielders when they put a catch down, talking to his young bowler, taking charge, celebrating with them, advising them, and then leading by example in the field."

"You can talk all you want, but you've got to lead by example. He has been outstanding."

"I love what I saw tonight from Mohammad Rizwan."

Waqar Younis on Mohammad Rizwan as captain

He always has a big smile on his face. Doesn't matter who is winning or losing, that's him.

A very humble guy leading from the front and that's his style.

That's the way he lead his team, with big smile on his face.

He's very clear when he's talking to the team. He'll put across his message very clearly with a big smile on his face.

And players respect that. And I think to gain respect, it's important that you have that big smile on your face.

Yes, you got to be honest and straightforward, and you can do it with big smile on your face.

He's a good leader.

This is realistically the first XI if Rizwan is captain.

Baqi aap sab siyane ho.

The greatest t20 opener in the history of Pakistan cricket.

The greatest gloveman in the history of Pakistan.

And now the best white ball captain in Pakistan.

The losers can cry, whinge and write endless posts about him. The Rizwan juggernaut keeps on chugging because at the end of the day, the cream always rises to the top.

We love to see it Rizzy!

Multan Sultans are looking like reaching 3 finals in a row under Rizwan and Rizwan won them the PSL in 2021.

He is a natural captain.

Sadly his closeness with Babar and his stubborn opinion regarding their opening pair is what cost him the captaincy.

Best white ball captain?
Based on losing back 2 back finals in a domestic tournament? That tells you the level of Pak cricket ATM.

The greatest t20 fraud in the history of Pakistan cricket.

Fixed.

Kamran Akmal pointed out that Rizwan only had 2 overseas players and one of them being from UAE. In comparison Lahore had 4 overseas in their playing xi

Rizwan has the luxury of his team players being in good nick. Ali, Iftikhar have found their rhythm now as well and he himself is doing just fine. Definitely going to the playoff and might play final as well.

He's a bit like Dhoni in IPL. Tries to get the best out of experienced local players who are obviously the most accustomed to conditions

Yeah that’s not happening under Rizwan

Don’t be fooled

Nothing impressive about his captaincy rather credit should be given to the Multan coaching and analyst team who for almost 4 years have been able to select the best foreign players in the draft. Without such staff Rizwan's captaincy career would have been done and dusted all the way back in 2021

Posters on this forum can lie but numbers don't. Sure he might not be the greatest T20 batsman of all time or a world beater, but based on his stats in big games and big tournaments he outperforms Babar, so he deserves to be in the team based on that alone. Forgetting the fact he's by far the best wicketkeeper in Pakistan.

A 69% win percentage in over 40 matches in PSL is an insane record, no one has over 60% for a minimum of 10 matches. He's won countless domestic trophies with KPK. A truly great captain.

Yet another play-off qualification for Multan under Rizwan's captaincy. Since 2021 he has led Multan Sultans to the playoffs every single season!

Brilliant consistency from the franchise.

Rizwan gone after 32(24), the unfortunate run out causing his demise. Will this be costly for MS?

A great test of captaincy for Rizwan today. Can he guide MS to PSL 9 Final's Qualifier?

Rizwan picking up his rhythm before the all important playoffs of PSL 9, scored a brisk 50 on just 35 deliveries.

Mohammad Rizwan during the post-match ceremony after winning the game against Quetta Gladiators, he said:

"We decided that we will bat first but we couldn't come up with an idea initially about how many runs we need to score. In the middle when two overs went very quietly we thought we wouldn't reach an appropriate target. However, the way Johnson and Iftikhar finished the innings that was outstanding, just because of them we are getting such performances,"

"We basically make changes after assessing the conditions and the opponent. We always try to form a combination that is suitable to play against our opponents. The way Peshawar Zalmi is carrying the momentum we will sit and plan accordingly,"

"You don't make frequent changes when your team is already doing well. However, if you notice we made changes in our opening partnership and sometimes made few cganges in our fast bowling combination as per the need. Now, we will see how Peshawar Zalmi will come to play so we will assess them and make changes accordingly,"

"If you notice in this PSL until the last game all teams were very close to each other on the points table. As you know we won 6 matches initially but to play in the qualifiers winning this match was very important. So we took all the games very seriously and never looked at who was winning or losing the game. We were focused on playing a qualifier so now we will try to play the same way as we were playing before."

If sarfraz can captain for years without qualifying for play offs in a 6 team tournament than anyone captain.

What an incredible job Rizwan has done turning Multan into a juggernaut. The keep topping the table year after year and a huge credit goes to Rizwan & his captaincy for that, especially this year as the team didn't look all that impressive on paper. People thought without Rossouw, they would struggle. No Tim David either but the team has continued to chug along and I think the most impressive thing is they are basically doing it on the backs of local talent, particularly on the batting side. On paper Usman Khan is overseas but really this is a local talent that developed here along with Rizwan/Ifti/Yasir all doing a solid job with their batting. Random and unexpected bowlers like Mohammad Ali keep being amazing for them. Year before it was Ihsanullah & Abbas Afridi who burst onto the scene.

They're so good its boring at this point, particularly in Multan where they are unbeatable. Rizwan's batting & leadership is a big part of it. He's got the team well connected and they continue to consistently dominate.

A thinking captain that plans for the opposition. Whether it's the playing XI or bowling changes. Riz has been on point

Rizwan has used is resources very well in PSL. Took multan from dust to sky in a couple of seasons. No better guy than him who can be the captain of MUltans atm. He will surely be their captain for the next few seasons as well.

In the thread about Shaheen being replaced as Pak t20 captain, some said that Rizzu doesn't deserve a spot in the team, let alone a captain. The suggestion was for Saud then Imad and then drumroll the greatest captain since slice bread, a certain keeper of QG who failed in multiple Psl's, can't bat and is now axed from playing XI, to be considered.

I am just baffled at some of the recommendations. Rizwan may not be the best but in the XI for Pak, he should have trumped Shaheen any day

Easily the best white ball captain in Pak. Amazing tactician and what I like most about is his ability to get the best out his players. Players just seem to punch above weight under him

One of the problems of our cricket board. The media has an impact on them and they tend to make decisions which are being discussed by popular cricketing journalists. The Pak media has lobbies and some of these journalists still support ttfs

One of the most pathetic innings was played by Rizwan in the all important qualifier, scored just 15 runs off 21 deliveries.

He really needs to work on his strike rate otherwise there's no point in continuing to play as an opener and keep spoiling the power play.

What’s the point raising these questions now?

You all want him to be the captain of Pakistan. This is what you are signing up for

Why is everyone acting like rizwan is a debutant who shows promise but has extreme Strike rate rotation issues that need to be ironed out?

What's all this he needs to work on his sr? Rizzu has been playing for nearly a decade, what are people talking about? 💀

He took over captaincy of Multan Sultans and then had the following results:

Champions
2nd
2nd

And now they’re in the finals again.

He’s clearly been the best choice to be the captain of Pakistan ever since Babar was forced out.

Also, he should be the captain of all 3 formats, not just T20. No point in persisting with Shan Masood in Test cricket when Shan does not currently warrant a place in the side based upon his batting.

Brother MS Literally has the strongest team, that Like in first early years of psl quetta kept dominating either reaching finals or winning and people attributed that to sarfraz when in reality when you have players like Shane Watson, Kevin pieterson, Jason roy( in his prime) playing under one roof as well as having the best bowling attack, they'd obviously win.

The only team that can challenge MS is PZ who've beaten them 2x now, but that's only if their opening clicks, whereas MS has the more balanced team.

In the world cup, rizwan is not going to have the most powerful team not even close, he's not gonna pull a pat Cummings and win a world cup despite originally starting at the bare bottom of the table.

And considering he's literally opening and leading from the front, it's gonna be greater pressure.

Edit: Also Islamabad beat them due to poor captaincy decision of easting wiese and having usama bowl the 19th

Rizwan scores runs but at what strike rate? that is the real question. In this PSL, he might be one of the top 3 batters but the strike rate will be a huge difference when you look at the stats. The thing is established now, either he plays with all guns blazing or should be sitting out. No need for 120 strike rate anymore.

Also Islamabad beat them due to poor captaincy decision of easting wiese and having usama bowl the 19th

Wiese plays for Lahore. I think you mean David Willey

Also MS does not have the strongest team on paper. Rizwan got the best out of the youngsters in the team. Some games he even played less than 4 foreigners and preferred local talent instead
