Was just going through some stats and what a surprise it is.

Shami has been integral part of two World Cups squad for India and has been playing for around 7-8 years and yet has played only 77 ODI matches till date.

He has got 144 wickets at avg of 25 but he has been there for so long to play only 77 ODI matches.

His stats are brilliant but really surprised he hasn't played even 100 ODIs. Someone like Kedhar Jadhav has played 73 ODIs and only 77 for Shami till now.

Someone like Ravindra Jadeja has played 165 ODIs for India.

He is very liberal in giving away runs and has ability to take wickets .. Little under utilized in limited overs format but It was to keep him fit for longer version ..Bumrah also need to take rest for limited overs version..but he is one of the crowd puller so rarely gets enough rest like Kohli..

Because he has played such less ODIs in such a long space of time teams have not been able to figure him out compare to say someone like Rabada. Shami has not fulfilled his potential and now got 2-3 years left at his best.

There is a difference between potential and performance. Shaheen might be better in the future, but right now, Bumrah and Shami are the #1 and #2 Asian pacers.
