Mohammad Shami loses his cool when Pakistan fan mocks Team India with ‘baap kaun hai’ chants

Pakistani fans, after their team’s demolition of India in the final of the Champions Trophy 2017, celebrated the victory by singing from the stands, while many took to the streets of London to celebrate. However, some fans drew the ire of the Indian team with their taunts from the stands of The Oval. Many Pakistani supporters mocked the Indian Captain Virat Kohli along with a few other players, who didn’t respond to the comments which were being passed by the Pakistani supporters.

One of the Pakistani supporter specially targeted the Indian Captain, Virat Kohli by passing a statement “Akad toot gai hai! akad toot gai hai teri Kohli saari haa, akad toot gai hai” (All your arrognace has been broken, Kohli) to which Kohli didn’t respond despite of hearing the whole comment.

But the Indian fast bowler, Mohammed Shami couldn’t control his temper after a Pakistani fan mocked the team by shouting “Baap Kon Hai” (Who’s your Father). Mohammed Shami, who was offended by the comment came down a few steps to confront the Pakistani fan. MS Dhoni, who was walking just behind the fast bowler, saw the entire matter and quickly took Shami away to avoid any incident.
Pakistan were imperious against India in the final of the Champions Trophy as they beat them by 180 runs. Their run in the tournament was similar to what they did in 1992 in which Pakistan lifted the trophy despite being entering as rank underdogs.

Maybe shami should take his frustrations on Sehwag and Rishi Kapoor who started this mess. Sorry, but what fans did was not right, however it was a response to idiotic tweets from Sehwag. Don't mock a country when you can't take it back.

I didn't see any offensive comment from current Indian players, so it's unfair to dish it out at them after the match and that too in their faces. It just doesn't sound good to me, if fans want to give it back to India, it should be on twitter account of Sehwag and Rishi Kapoor.

fans are what they are, they do quite a bit to the pakistani cricketers when they come home after an unsuccessful campaign.

you cant equate fans vs. players. some fans are boorish some are not. thats how they it goes. its not always well thought out.

This was an absolutely disgraceful act by a very immature person I guess. Indian players are top class professionals, they have won so many matches for their country in past 6-7 years and they deserve to be respected by every cricket fan. If I was there, I would have screamed my lungs out to appreciate Kohli & co's services for this beautiful game.

Indian media showing this clip to criticise Pak fans. They forgot "qaidi no. 5" chants of indian fans when amir was fielding at the boundary.

What was he (shami) going to do about it? Jack all. However, since none of the Indian squad made any derogatory comments in the first place, it was pretty harsh.

A few idiotic Pak fans don't represent the majority.

We should celebrate but do so in a class manner.

Theres a time and place for a joke. That was not the time. Equally though Shami should not have been so easily wound up about it. Unclassy from both.

... But then again Rishi & Sehwag opened a can of worms... Father's Day insults (in the cricket sphere at least) will always be hurled at Indians from here on out and an expression springs to mind 'you reap what you sow'.

The chants were unacceptable because they were literally thrown at them when they were going back to the dressing room, but not by the whole crowd but one of the young gentleman, shami came back to reply after he was constantly yelling at each of them that 'Baap kon ha'...was disgusting to watch such a scenario.

He even taunted Kohli in an extremely pathetic way something I can never describe here...but after all, that was only one of them...the video is viral on social media.

Classless behaviour, but there are always a few of these idiots around best just to ignore.

You reap what you sow. Pretty sure we Pakistanis didn't start this garbage baap-beta discussion, but we definitely ended it.

Pretty sure all international teams face this and are used to it especially in countries like England and Australia where for some reason, the expats or ___-origin fans are aggressive.

Haven't seen it personally happening to foreign players at grounds I've been to, but remember an ODI when Dravid was terribly insulted by an idiot when he misfielded on the boundary line.

Shami probably had personal reasons for not liking the 'baap' jibe and reacted on the spur.

Looool our fans are the worst in stadiums...

This is the same people that chant 'aaalooo' for Inzi whenever he comes out on the crease..

Been to National stadium 3 times and all the times you hear a deafening aaaloo aaloooo when he comes on the crease...

Amir has been on the receiving end of chants about his jail room by an Indian supporter if I'm not wrong

We do it to politicians in England, our own team when they fail, and even in victory too...

When they're going up in the balcony one of the fans said to Misbah 'Amitabh Bacchan Lagrahay ho daari mai'

This stuff should best be ignored as a professional sportsman, its hurtful but these people face these kind of things everyday

You can't say that to a guy who lost his father this year.

Pretty pathetic by this person really. And pretty pathetic by sehwag who said the same thing to God knows how many Pakistanis who would have lost their fathers this year. This is why such taunts arent funny in our culture.

Why do our fans give Kohli so much stick? The guy has always been very respectable whenever he has made any comments about country.

I don't know why everyone is trying to pull a Sehwag after the victory. Be humble and enjoy the win.

British Pakistani fans unfortunately have a very poor reputation and certaintly don't represent the rest of us.

Who have Kohli stick? This is normal

Bunch of softies in here

Y'all are idiots. There is nothing wrong in what they did. NOTHING.

WHO'S YA DADDY? WHO'S YA DADDY? WHO'S YA DADDY?

Yankees fans did it to Red Sox players back in 2003. No one complained.

Cricketers need to grow thick skins. There are always idiots in the crowd who chant offensive non-sense. Besides, it was Sehwag who started all of this BS.

These type of chants are normail in Britain, whether it's football or cricket. It's only banta, nothing wrong with chanting who is your baap, after all it was Indians who started with this comment.

Shami shouldn't have reacted he's no Eric Cantona.

To be honest, Indian team deserve that. because of your ex player and ex actor, all were tweeting Baap beta stuff before the match, even Indian media was showing again n again baap beta thing. so it will bite them back, simple.

Shami was bound to loose his cool. Not used to loosing to Pakistanis. He always thought Indian cricket ruled.

Indian media showing this clip to criticise Pak fans.

Then we should not be taking out our frustrations on India's players/fans just because Sehwag made a few insensitive comments.

I don't like it when fans do this. If a player has said something, fine, give it back, but in this case it's totally unwarranted. Attention seeking pathetic behaviour from that fan. It should not be celebrated.

Shami lost his cool because he couldnt believe how he didnt get into this team. The fan just pushed him over.

It was father's day....fitting that Pakistan showed them who the real daddy is ...shewag hope u were watching

It's funny how shami turned and came and just stood there. What did he think he was going to do?

Situations like this, it's best to just walk away rather than further antagonizing the person chanting insults at you.

I'm not a fan of hostile fan behaviour in general and even less so when it's unnecessary so in my eyes that fan is an idiot. That being said, there are worse things that get players get called during matches so Shami is overreacting and playing to the galleries quite clearly.

I don't mind a bit of banter but the stuff Sehwag and Rishi Kapoor were saying was entirely tasteless. The obsession with "baap" is provocative and stupid. However, I'd like to ask Indian fans if this is acceptable since a lot of you were defending Sehwag/Rishi earlier?

Also, Shami's anger should be directed at his captain for playing Umesh Yadav ahead of him.

Sometimes players just loose it. Like Inzamam when he was repeatedly called aaloo.

And he shouldn't have. Although, aloo was a lot more personal than what this fan said. When you look at the context (it being a response to India's baap jibes) then what he was saying was pretty harmless.

The fan's comments to Kohli were far worse imo.

Like I mentioned, Shami wanted to appear relevant since he didn't get to play a game and this was his moment.

It wasn't just Sehwag or Rishi kapoor it's was the whole circus created by Indian media and even now it's sad that after taking such a beating they still looking to satisfy their ego. Have u seen or hear what Indian fans have said to Amir, inzamam ( in Toronto where inzi was in stands trying to beat up INADIAN FAN) to Javied Miandad during world cups, Pak team won fans not suppose to professional they suppose to be emotional and players suppose to be professional not emotional
Happy Father's Day to all of India. Every Father's Day all the Indian will have to line up at boarder to celebrate Father's Day ...
Pak cricket has given to best Father's Day 🎁 to whole country that we will cherish for life
We have the right to ask
WHOS YOUR DADAY BIT....

Not condoning it, but Indian media turned this into more than just a cricket game.

Especially after the first loss and how hey reacted and its ex-cricketers and celebs reacted.

Sorry, but you're going to get fans trolling. Thats with any sport and nation in the world.

Just cause Sehwag is classless, dosen't mean we have to stoop to his level. Pathetic behaviour by some Pakistani fans.

Fans will be fans, especially after passionite victories.. Shami should stop trying to overcompensate

Just saw the video. Shami didn't lose his cool. He just came over and asked the sledger what did he say before being directed away by Dhoni.
Funny part was the sledger actually getting scared, when shami asked what did you say. Afterwards people around him were making fun of him saying "phut gayeee" hahahaha

Well like the fan said don't give it if you can't take it.

Hopefully a lesson has been learnt by Indians.

Yep. I don't mind this banter at all.

The amount of crap talk we have seen from Indian fans, ex-players, etc. has been insane. Most Pakistanis (including Akhtar) stayed humble despite taunts so if someone is dishing back some to the Indians then they should be able to take it on the chin. Sehwag set them up to fall on their face, so expect it now, don't be a wuss.

It was equally offensive to Pakistanis when Sehwag made that "baap" comment. He should have thought then how his comment would stir up anger and emotions that to him was just a "joke" he said! Nothing wrong when we joke back at them, if you can't take it then don't dish it out. Take that India!

As much as the fans have the right to express their boorishness, players have the right to express this frustration, they're also players not machines.

Shami didn't go to Sehwag and Rishi to post those immature and pathetic tweets, he's done nothing wrong.

Some fans do go overboard, but that is the same in every sport. Pakistan has been mocked for a long time in ODIs in the last 5 years, this is our moment of glory, some will express their happiness in a mature way while others will do more chest beating than others.

sorry about shami's father RIP ...but this nonsense was started by indians and their legend Viru ...and anyways weren't indians taunting amir as qadi no.5 ?? so the indians stop acting as innocents...and yeah BAAP BAAP HUTA HA DEKHLIA NA BAAP KON HA AYENDA BAKWAS MAT KRNA 73-52 MIND THE GAP..good bye and good night

The whole "baap" rhetoric was inaugurated by Indian idols like Sehwag or Rishi Kapoor, and friendly banter is alright, but Indians have a tradition of indulging into such subclass jingoistic busts wedded to crass language (you just have to see their media or their trolls here), and it's good that India was taught some humility, even though Shami - or any of the actual Indian cricketer - perhaps shouldn't have been at the receiving end.

Happens to all sportsperson and there have been a lot of instances when a sportsperson lost his cool.. This is part of a sportsperson life and that is why it is such a tough job both physically and mentally..

or maybe he took it personal bcoz of some other reason?

How funny was it that this so called "fan" went drop dead silent as soon as Shami turned around and looked at him. What a coward! Does not have the balls to say it to his face.

I don't associate these guys as fans of Pakistani cricket team anyway, they are a bunch of hooligans who choose cricket as a medium to do what hooligans do. They are not separated by any national boundary, you'll find the same sort of prats in Lahore to New York, best not to give them the attention they crave.

so you expect him to say this when Security is angry on him and constantly accusing him of abusing that loser
p.s they are as much Pakistani as you are
he has the guts to say that to Indian team after bull **** of sehwag unlike few keyboard warriors who are questioning his patriotism

What? Shami will be slapped into oblivion by any Pakistani.

haha...cute. very cute. Shami is a tough guy? Hilarious that it's so easy to get under their skin. What's happened to India?

Wish the fans had done this before the match, at least then Kohli would had given some performance at least.

Also first thing Sehwag and Rishi are far from being Indian 'idols'.

Also this Indian team is too soft ,Kohli has been gracious and way too nice and deserves the backlash ,now he'll know he should perform against PCT , whatever and whenever instead of laughing around with his Punjabi friends across the border as if nothing happened.

Hardly news - fans give it to players all the time, in all sports.

Shami's in the public eye, he must remain professional - as annoying as that sounds for him, it comes with the territory of being a professional athlete representing ones country.

Doesn't make the fan right - no... it's just the way it is.

Whoa!!!...looks like you have taken this loss too hard on yourself. Always thought of you as a laid back kind of guy...it's just a game at the end of the day and not War that Kohli cannot even chat with the opposite team...and besides he did win the 4th June match... nobody accused him of being too soft then!!!

To be honest this taunting by the Pakistani fans was unnecessary. We let the bat do the talking that was enough in my opinion.

No one is saying it's war,but wish he had that laughing attitude even when Pak batting thrashed us,he looked shaken, maybe could had played better.

It almost looked like he was relieved that the match was over, that as a fan of ICT and him ,I found it offensive.

It is immature by the fan no doubt.
If I was gonna do this I would probably have said "sehwag saiy poochna baap kaun hai"
It's unfortunate about shami though because the fan was not just saying it to him
