* the first Bangladesh player to hit centuries in each innings of a Test
* Potential to be the fist to hit 150+ in both innings of same test.
* Averages 60+ at Home.

he has the potential to be a prolific scorer for bangladesh at home. This is necessary for Bangladesh to become at least strong at home, before they try to capture away territories.

Hopefull the young man can carry the Bangaldeshi batting unit in the future.

so far an established FTB but hope he performs well abroad too.

He's a good batsman who's decent against spin. That's it. Nothing more than that.

Technically I consider him the best Bangladeshi batsman. Also has a natural flair and is easy on the eyes.

He is only a test player and BD doesnt play lot of test which will effect his performance

I just love his stle of play..guy has potential to be a good test bat if not ATG if bangladesh play more tests plus he performs outside bangladesh.......has the hunger to score big.

Road pitch ..not good sample match to rate him ATG !

Still Shakib is best BD batsman in all conditions for me.

Another thread opened on the basis of a batsmen scoring on dead pitch.

Let's see what he does on challenging pitches and in more difficult circumstances before labelling him a future ATG.

He looks the part, always rated him. Unfortunately BD players hardly get enough exposure in foreign countries to allow them to develop there game and score in different conditions.

Has a good chance of going down as an ATG batsmen for Bangladesh. Not like there's any tough competition.

Nowhere close to contributions made by Shakib for Bangladesh.

Yes, he is young but I think ATG is a bit premature there even though you are talking of potential.

Bangladeshi ATG along with Tamim, Mushfiq, and Shakib.

Looooooong way to go before he can compare with Big 4 of Smith, Williamson, Root, and Rahane. Actually perhaps he's close to Root at the moment. He needs more scores away from home and against the top attacks.

However, he has the ability, mental toughness, and work ethic to be the first Bangladeshi ATG.

Has potential, but in the past Bangladesh haven't had a lot of ATG batsman since they hardly get foreign exposure. But not enough potential for ATG status So come back on this thread when he improves on his away record or plays a good knock away from home.

Really?

I think what we need is a lot more games abroad. I know we were horrible against SA but you learn from experience.

That way our boys like Liton, Mominul will develop

Hope he gets a 50+ score today. His average is just a shade over 47...needs to get it back up over 50 and keep it there.

He has long way to go , but if he gets enough tests , he can get to 25 plus test hundreds.

He doesn't seem to be a good player of fast bouncy pitches. Just an observation.

I think he is more than decent on those pitches but unfortunately doesnt get to play much.

His weaakness is off spin

Hasn't played on any yet. He's a strong player of pace and reasonably good against spin. Needs to work a bit on playing off spin. Still fairly young at 26 and his home average is a solid 59. Average in foreign conditions is 29, so its not ridiculously low. Just needs to get that up to 35-38 and he's at or beyond the class of a Mahela, Ganguly, etc.

My bad. Ganguly averaged as much overseas as he did at home. Thats a notch above the likes Mahela in that regard.

Mahela is one of the best players of spin ever !!. I don't think Mominul is anywhere near that league.

I meant overseas in places like NZ, SA, AUS, ENG where Mahela has a mediocre record. Sanga has a much stronger record in those venues.
