Having seen this guy I really believe he has massive potential. Shame a spot was wasted on Nasim.

We should give raw youngsters a chance if they have this sort of talent.

Is he this man close to 25? (Obviously he isn't 21). Unless he is more that 23/24, he has a good potential to be Afridi's replacement in future. But if he is older than that, probably the learning/improving curve has already reached the peak, he 'll not improve enough for International standards.

Kamran Ghulam will hopefully fulfill the role of lower order hitter and spin bowler. Though i hope his batting will be more Abdul Razzaq than Afridi

heard he balls a mix of off spin and chinaman

Talent is still never a problem in PAK; but the problem is these talented boys are not given proper chance to groom. I read an article from Omar Qrarishi (I guess, can't recall), regarding up bringing cricketers in PAK, which had a flawed system. Naturally talented players are picked in their teens and made part of the National setup, from where they can understand the level gap - those who work hard after that ends up with a good career. Recent problem in PAK is, PAK play least number of matches among top sides & they had been led by utter defensive Captains, who are too protective to their known players. Young players with natural talent start to play in domestics & within few years they adopt lots of bad habits, which creeps into their game. By the biological age of 26/27, when they are finally drafted into the National set up, they are already out of learning curve. I saw a brilliant batsman, batting all-rounder & bowling all-rounder in Azam, Hammad & Anwar Ali/Emad Wasim, but I am sure, unless Babar is picked within next 1/2 years' you 'll see lots of flaws in his game, Hammad is probably finished & Emad never even made into the set up. The best classical example is Faisal Iqbal - I saw him taking Shane better than any English man on his debut, got dropped, came back later & found that his batting technique is much inferior from the 19 years old kid I saw with brilliant back-foot game.

That's why PAK has always produced great, exciting cricketers under entrepreneur Captains - people like Karder, Mushtaq, Imran, Akram who had the eye to see talents & had the guts to pick them & stand by own decisions. Kamran Ghulam is probably 20/21 now, a perfect player to replace Hafeez in national setup, but he must be drafted in to the team within short time, may not be in playing XI, but must be in XV; otherwise, every year posters 'll discuss new potentials. Unfortunately, the culture is that, dropping a 40 years old from a format he is obsolete these days is considered as disrespect in PAK - how can Babar, Ghulam, Gohar or Mukter can make the team?

Guy has smashed an unbeaten ton to take his side to victory opening the innings at a SR of 100+

5 innings. 2 tons and 1 50. Also has t20 ton.

Waiting to,see Mukhtar play haven't watched him, domestically so cant comment whether he is ready

Desperate for this guy to succeed. He could prove to be such a handy cricketer.

Have seen him play, and after his t20 ton been awaiting his international debut in t20s.

Was actually surprised he got selected because our thick tank likes to waste a couple of years of decent prospects in domestics before sending them to the national team (e.g. Haris Sohail).

But why does OP say he is a bowling allrounder? Always thought he was a batting all rounder. Actually, more of a batsman who can bowl a little bit, though I think his bowling will develop over time.

Needs to play in the top order IMO or no less than #5.

Guys quit complaining about how old he looks. The amount of people who fake their ages in Pakistan is much less now. The Afridi/Razzaq generation was the last one that could do this. i've noticed that most Pakistanis, especially Punjabis like myself, tend to mature physically earlier. I had facial hair and a small moustache by age 13. At 14 people told me I looked 17. At 16, like Afridi, I had a full beard. At age 19 people thought I was in my mid twenties, the highest guess of my age that I got was 28.

There is a footballer for the Italian club Lazio who is African. He is only 17 but if you look at his face he looks at least 40. They even did blood tests on him and had a huge controversy over his age. Stop being so cynical. Many star footballers make their first team debuts at age 16-17. People who faked their age, like Waqar Younis and Razzaq, maybe Afridi, are all born pre-1990. Fake ages are much less common nowadays in Pakistan.

Is a hack, nthing else. Will struggle to rotate strike and just a strong bottom hand hitter

I hv endured the same
Grew a beard at 13 and a1/2 years of age.
When i was 16, a pathan middle aged guy asked me about the number of kids that i had lol

I am a punjabi too by the way

I'm 24 and get asked to show id when I'm buying cigarettes

We are in dire need of good hard hitting hacks, Mr. Techniques don't win you LOIs in this day and age. So move on please.

I have seen him batting in the domestics tournaments. looked a fine talent to me. He was rotating the strike beautifully initially in the innings and then went to go after the bowlers afterwards. His leg spin has also been very useful, used to pick some key wickets.

Hope the kaptaan gives this guy a chance to prove his worth

Lets hope hes not a massive let down like Afridi then!

Proper hack. But people should realise that modern cricket has a place for big hitting hacks. And this guy can be that hack which Pakistan requires.

From, the same, league which has Awais Zia Sharjeel Khan Shahzaib Hasan Imran nazir

And this is not uncommon for most people. Me and most of my friends, had beards when were 16. If you dont shave you look older, if you have a clean shave most look their age. Pakistani cricketers have a history of fudging age data and you cannot put it down to machismo. So take a break.

an ugly substandard batsman.
Just not cut out for int. Cricket. If u want hacks then, shahzeb and imran nazir r way better options

A clear hack. Should not be anywhere close to the team. For players like him, one game is enough.

What else do you need in T20? T20 is the place for hacks. You want Technique Shafiq etc. to play in T20s? Sharjeel was wrongly dropped from T20s. He wasn't performing in ODIs and was dropped from T20s because of that. We need to understand that every format is different and in T20s, these hacks serve better than so-called technically correct batsmen.

You need hacks who can hack around against good teams. Mukhtar won't last 10 deliveries against a decent team.

Hacking is a skill in itself.

You need to have very good hand-eye coordination with an uncanny ability to find the boundary.

Mukhtar doesn't carry any of these traits. In fact, he is a very one-dimensional batsman who has too many weaknesses. Wouldn't survive domestic cricket in AUS let alone International cricket.

He is not pleasing to the eye... the six of taskin was the best shot he played (looked awesome), but the rest of the time his batting looked ugly....
U-Akmal , S-Maqsood and couple of U19 kids are the best batting talent pakistan got, I am sure about that now... I would persist with them as long as they are not injured... the rest are completely useless.
Please bring Babar Azam and Sami aslam and let them be a part of the team from now on even if they fail.

Pakistan need to arrange more A-tours, you guys wont know if these domestic bullies have actually got it in 'em until they play away and still perform consistently.

We are gonna lose badly in the t20 championship if he keep persisting with afridi and the others. In my view your t20 and odi team should be 90% similar and of course excluding perennial match losers.

A team is in SL, let us see how they fare there.

What a terrible terrible batsmen he has taken "Hackness" to another level , i dont know why Pakistan is encouraging such players . looked a totally gully cricketer . is this the best T20 player Pakistan is producing ? utter shame . Fakhar Zaman is ignored for this crap
i couldnt believe my eyes this type of batsmen is playing for Pakistan so so shocking and embarassing
Sharjeel is 1000 times better

I didnt see the innings but i cant imagine that he was as bad as everyone is saying. Remember guys, it was his 1st innings at this level and he was probably very nervous.

Haha.

Guy has clear ability yet people moaning.

First game top scorer.....

He's a hack mate, and a terrible one at that, was going with hard hands at everything with no timing or placement and obviously no technique.
Will not survive against better teams.

ok it was his first game . Sami Aslam also had his first game days ago why didnt he look a hack? first check players properly in domestic and then get them into international
we are giving Debuts as if it is a charity . Saad Nasim and now this

and how did others then make less than him. if he is that bad then others are worse

He's a really bad hack.

Sharjeel, albeit a slogger, is miles, MILES better. Badly want him in T20s.

I think we can all agree that Sharjeel is the most reliable hack in the country at the moment.

Dunno Shahzeb sometimes looks very classy. He had talent but just never tried to become more than just a hack.
When azhar ali can develop, why couldn't shahzeb?

I forgot about him actually. He's a good option for T20s as well, need to invest in either him or Sharjeel. Both have the same fitness and fielding issues though.

He is the top scorer from Pakistan side!!
But no body is impressed about him for some reason!! He is blind hitter!!! Tried to hit everything!!
Sami Aslam also played his first game other day & scored some runs which was very nice to watch!!

I remember arun lal calling shahzeb ( batting not fielding like lol) the new inzi during his stay in the bpl.

Just shows that these guys hv no desire to improve and make a mark.

If we're going to invest a hack, we need to invest in a good hack. I don't understand why Sharjeel Khan was dropped from the T20 team, he's tailor made for T20 cricket. Much better than Ahmed Shehzad :faceapalm:
