Multan Sultans (189/3) become the first team to qualify for Play-Offs of PSL 9 with a resounding 20-run defeat against Karachi Kings (169/7)

"David Willey has the best SR of any player in the world in the power play."

Who would have thought

Why have MS made Usman a keeper again?

He's a make shift keeper right or he actually is a WK batter?

The guy just smashed a 100 and then they're made him keep wickets.

Is there a more pathetic player than HappyHeart? Came at the fag end of the innings and not once did he try to hit big! Finishes with a run a ball 6

Mohammad Ali up to 143.1 clicks. Really think there's a chance he could have a good test career if he can somewhat sustain close to that pace.

With the amount of tests we play and how far they're normally in a year won't keep it up to that pace.

He could well be tried as a replacement for Haris Rauf in the England T20i series and then the WC though.

Shahaeen and Naseem are certainties. Say we play 2 spinners we will need one more pacer.
If you had to choose one betwween: Rauf, Zaman, Wasim Jr or Mohammad Ali who would you pick and why

Ali I'd go for because of the line and length he can bowl at and attacks the stumps.

Zaman would be in the squad too along with Wasim Jr.

Chris Jordan looking fat. But still strikes

Spinner wise I'd go for Shadab, Usama Mir, Faisal Akram and Abrar Ahmed.
Yeah i'd go for Shadab or Mir and Abrar
I like Faisal but perhaps he's a bit too fresh. But he should be given international exposure so he can be prepped for future big touraments

Danny Morisson keeps calling Karachi the city of lights, but most of the buildings looks like they are having a blackout

Faisal over Nawaz even though Nawaz can bat a bit but he's far more inconsistent than he is capable of doing.

Sad to see no animated crowed behind the jubilant bowler

Good lord the fielding... and its the youngest players that are the biggest culprits. There should be zero reason for this.

yeah 20 year old faisal akram has already given away 2 boundaries. they were easy to stop.

Usman innings really was special. All the other batters have struggled for timing on this pitch

Malik really has no power. needs to eat more
Don't think he's eating less than before. In the past when Malik left the crease against spinner the ball almost always ended up in the stands.
Man is old now and probably distracted

Malik still pushing to get a run a no.4 in 2024 is laughable. Every one other than him knows that he no.5 is the only position that has worked out for him throughout his career. Sending Du Plooy after Malik is brainless and sad.

Masood’s delusional fans like @topspin @Markhor @RedwoodOriginal will never accept that he is simply not good enough. Never was and never will be.

The fact that a deeply mediocre player like him is the Test captain and also a PSL captain encapsulates everything that is wrong with Pakistan cricket.

His body language, facial expressions and mannerism also reflect his mediocrity. He seems a smart individual and I think deep down even he is aware that he doesn’t have the ability but his good luck and background has carried him this far.

MS Dhoni of Pakistan

Building careers of Khushdil and Iftikhar,

Destroying careers of Faisal Akram

Why was Anwar Ali dropped?

Did KK give him the bug so that they can just bench him?

They have traded toxicity for clownery. Imagine making Masood your captain. 🤡
Doink the clown, the king of the clowns is Haider Azhar. Love watching this fraud being exposed for his pathetic pre-draft and on draft decisions!

Don’t go anywhere guys match winner is still there

Nawaz last two matches 6 overs for 70 runs

A show in for the Pakistan team

What about Rizwan?
Rizwan is doing well for Multan, not necessarily with the bat but other aspects like captaincy and WK/fielding. There's no way he will get dropped even if he bats slow.

Ideally, i don't want him in Pakistan team when we have another similar batter, but the blame lies on "aggressive" players who can neither maintain high average nor SR. If you're going to average like 20, at least have a good SR.

Hasan Ali, Nawaz haven't improved their batting at all in all these years.

Oh I forgot they've not improved their bowling either.

Usman Khan’s belligerent century, followed by a combined bowling performance led Multan Sultans to a 20-run victory over Karachi Kings in the 19th match of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 here at National Bank Stadium on Sunday.

Chasing a mammoth 190, the Kings could accumulate 169 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

The home side got off to an unwanted start to the pursuit as they lost two wickets — Tim Seifert (1) and James Vince (7) — inside the batting powerplay with just 28 runs on the board.

Following the slump, skipper Shan Masood partnered with Shoaib Malik to anchor the run chase briefly.

The pair batted sensibly and added 53 runs for the third wicket before Usama Mir dismissed Masood in the 10th over to dent Kings’ recovery.

Masood scored an anchoring 36 off 29 deliveries, hitting five boundaries.

Malik then put together a brief partnership with Leus du Plooy (12) before both fell in successive overs, resulting in the Kings slipping to 99/5 in 13 overs.

Veteran all-rounder Malik top-scored for the Kings with a 28-ball 38 which featured five boundaries.

The Kings then lost another wicket in the 17th over when Muhammad Irfan Khan returned after scoring a 19-ball 23.

Hasan Ali and Mohammad Nawaz offered valuable resistance in the death over with a brilliant 41-run partnership which lasted on the penultimate delivery but the Kings fell short of tasting their third victory in the HBL PSL 9.

Hasan scored a brisk 17 off eight deliveries while Nawaz remained unbeaten with a 17-ball 27, featuring three boundaries and a six.

For the Sultans, Usama Mir bagged two wickets while David Willey, Chris Jordan, Khushdil Shah and Mohammad Ali struck out a batter apiece.

Sultans’ captain Mohammad Rizwan’s decision to bat first paid dividends for his side as they racked up a massive total of 189/3 on the board, courtesy of a marathon second-wicket stand.

The Sultans had a dismal start to their innings as they lost Reeza Hendricks (13) with just 16 runs on the board in the second over.

Following the early debacle, Usman joined his skipper Rizwan in the middle and the duo launched an astounding counterattack.

The pair batted for more than 15 overs and added 148 runs to the Sultans’ total.

Usman was the core aggressor of the magnificent partnership while Rizwan anchored through before finally perishing in the 18th over after a cautious half-century.

He scored 58 off 44 deliveries with the help of five boundaries.

The Sultans then sustained another blow to their batting expedition when Iftikhar Ahmed (4) perished on the first delivery of the penultimate over, bowled by Hasan Ali.

But Usman Khan stood his ground firm and brought up his second HBL PSL century in the final over with a six over deep square leg off Mir Hamza.

Usman carried his bat all the way through and scored an unbeaten 106 of 59 deliveries, laced up with 15 boundaries including five sixes.

Blessing Muzarabani led the bowling attack for the Kings while Hasan made one scalp.

Where did I state I was a Shan Masood fan ?

Has my smackdowns this week scrambled your brain into making things up ?

Sounds about right. This week he's been getting schooled by me in the Imad and Arsenal threads as well, so as a result he's been coming after me as well because his bruised ego won't allow him to take the L with any grace. It's hard to take him seriously when he's got a strange appetite for mediocrity. This is evident by his backing for Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam (as captain). But the delusion doesn't end there, he actually wants the latter to be reinstated as Pakistan captain despite his substandard track record as captain.

As for Shan Masood, all I did was praise him for his captaincy and also for his batting in Australia and South Africa, which has been good compared to other players in the side. Everybody knows that the only reason why he's actually playing for Pakistan and for the Karachi Kings in the PSL is because he's a specialist captain.
