I RECENTLY visited Murree, Bhurban and Nathiagali. A few years ago when I visited Nathiagali, the roads were in a poor condition owing to landslides in the region, while the Murree road was well developed.

Unfortunately, and to my surprise, this year I witnessed pathetic roads, and filth and garbage all over Murree.

As soon as we entered Khyber Pakhtunkhwa all the way to Nathiagali, roads were well-carpeted with proper lane markings with fences. The valley was clean and no garbage and filth was seen. We stopped at a tea stall. It was our regular stop. This year it offered a scenic view and pleasant atmosphere. I could see picnickers and families enjoying the weather.

I saw tea boy asking one picnicker to go down and pick up the empty soft drink bottle that he had thrown and to put it in the waste bin. The tea boy had a clear message: do not through garbage in our valley.

The same tea stall had restrooms. The cleanliness of the restrooms was average according to my standards and way above average compared with the restrooms in Punjab.

We praised the owner whom we have known for many years about this wise investment. He said the government had invested in the uplifting of the valley to attract tourists. We also saw Chief Minister Pervez Khattak crossing near Taj Mahal Hotel with only a few unmarked guards wo were hardly noticeable. There was no blockade or traffic chaos because of his movement.

I have not seen the Punjab chief minister or his son or even a family member moving in Lahore without first closing all the roads on their route for hours before travelling in a motorcade.

Good to see the focus on tourism by KPK govt. KPK govt is on the right path when it comes to health, education, tourism, law & order and focus on local goverment. We really need to build the institutions.

Would you say it is suitable enough now for foreign tourists to visit KPK ?

Foreigners not yet IMHO security situation in the country overall still need big improvement for foreigners but local tourist numbers are increasing big time for KP from rest of the country they KP govt is investing big in tourism.

Nathiagali is the fav place of IK whenever he get sometimes out of politics you can see him there.

Was there over the summer.

Also went through Kohat and Kohistan on my way to Gilgit Baltistan which is a heavenly place.

Kohat and Kohistan are wastelands though with religious fundamentalists and absolutely not a single female was seen in our hour or 2 hrlong drive through it. It was Ramzan so around Iftar time we made a stop in one of the small towns to buy refreshments etc and just stop for namaaz (we weren't fasting as had been driving since 5am and were on safar anyway).

A local saw us and he was like join us for iftar and took us to his place/lodging. Very welcoming and I was really happy that the drive would have a good ending and I got to see that the locals were so nice. However at one point, he pointedly asked whether we're fasting. I couldnt bring myself to lie so told him that we were'nt. His whole demeanor changed and had to say a lot of things that we practically had to make a run for it. Made me feel very sad.

As per Islam You are not Supposed to Fast in Journey or when You are Sick.

So You were Islamically Correct Alhamdoulillah and you just abided by Allah's sayings.

Sad. Thankfully you remained Safe.

That's unfortunate. Though the people there are very practicing, they lack knowledge in simple Islamic rulings.

nathiagali is a magical place. when i was in pak we would spend a week every summer and although i have seen a lot of countries and beautiful resorts the charm of that place is unmatched!

murree was the same 20 years back but it has become too crowded now and full of pindi boys. you cannot relax there and enjoy the scenery

unfortunately nathiagali is slowly becoming very crowded as well due to which a lot of people now prefer dunga gali

yes there is one but there is also a few other chicken restaurants that are crazy good. all of them taste similar and have same recipe. it is nathiagali speciality

This is what ive heard from most punjabis who have converted from nooris to pti, they say we go to murree and when they enter nathiagali its like a different country, i think its a masterstroke by pti to develop natiagali.

The only thing i liked about entering KP, was that shisha cafes are legal compared to Punjab.

Nathiagali is much better than Murree which has become a crowded zoo. There are much better places than nathiagali as well though

pti deserves no credit for nathiagali. it has been far better than murree before pti came into existence. murree lost its charm in the 90s because it became over populated

nathiagali will suffer the same fate in a decade or so with or without pti. that is why dunga gali is slowly over taking now. it is what nathiagali was 15 or 20 years ago.
