In this xi I am choosing an all-time team comprising the best match-winners.I may have excluded greater players but here players just chosen on ability as match-winners.

My all-time test xi of match-winners excluding pure statistics

1.Barry Richards-
2.Virendra Sehwag
3.Viv Richards
4.Don Bradman
5.Inzamam Ul Haq
6.Gary Sobers
7.Adam Gilchrist
8.Imran Khan
9.Richard Hadlee
10.Shane Warne
11.Malcolm Marshall

all-time test xi on pure statistics as match-winners

1.Jack Hobbs
2.Len Hutton
3.Don Bradman
4.Steve Waugh
5.Inzamam Ul Haq
6.Gary Sobers
7.Adam Gilchrist
8.Imran Khan
9.Richard Hadlee
10.Shane Warne
11.Glen Mcgrath

Excluding pure statistics Viv Richards makes it as well as Barry Richards and Virendra Sehwag. Can't think of batsmen who can so dramatically change the complexion of game like a reversal of plot in an epic novel.Adam Gilchrist joins them but also with statistics that choose him .Hadlee and Imran were great match-winners as fast -bowling all-rounders.Inzamam's and Waugh's records select them.Marshall made a major contribution in West Indies becoming a superpower in test cricket and would edge Mcgrath as he was more explosive or dynamic. On pure stas Hobbs,Hutton,Steve Waugh and Glen Mcgrath make the all-time match-winners xi.Bradman was simply a unanimous choice with his staggering records. The likes of Dale Steyn Dennis Lillee,Wasim Akram,Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar just miss out here.Readers should refer to my previous articles on records of players as match-winners.

On what basis is Barry Richards making to the list of match winners in test cricket?

Inzamam is another rubbish choice. Yes, he played some quality knocks which turned the game but that was mostly in Asia. Struggled vs SA and Aus and here we are talking about ATG team.VVS Laxman is a far far better choice than Inzy.

No Lara?No Ponting??

And again Sehwag for non Asian pitches?

Not convinced of Waugh either..

Just look at Inzy's record in wins.He averages over 78 with 70 % of 24 centuries in winning causes .Barry proved himself in Packer cricket averaging over 79 including a famous 207 and 125 n.o in famous wins.True he hardly played international cricket but morally even Bradman rated him as the best opener he ever saw and close him in his all-time xi.Sehwag had outstanding performances in famous wins against sides like Australia. Waugh was outstanding in West Indies in 1995 and South Africa in 1997,winning his team the unofficial world test championship title on both occasions with his batting.
