When are we releasing these old TTFs? Enough of Wahab and Irfan. And no to Malik and Hafeez as well please. Stick with youngsters come what may.
 
I dont believe we have fans who back him.
Worst run-up ,action and release.
Only good for robbing some youngsters of valuable international experience.

Good for him. Unlike Amir he did make himself available for Pakistan for a very long period of time and only recently retired from tests which is fine as he is on the last phase of his career.
 
Good stuff in the BPL, but I hope we never have to see him play for Pakistan again
 
What exactly went bad for his bowling in Tests - only he can explain but he should have made much more out of his Test career than he ended up doing.

I think there was some issue between 2010-2012 when he hardly played. I don’t know if it was the issue with the sun newspaper having a clip of him wearing the jacket of the fixer or simply the fact that the coach at the time, waqar didn’t like his one dimensional bowling but he lost out in crucial years.

Anyway is and always was one dimensional which is a shame. Whole hearted player though.

Please concentrate on franchise T20 leagues all around the world and leave Pakistan cricket alone and take Amir with you.
 
He and Mohammad sami are quiet a mystery. Both of them used to clock 145 to 150k effortlessly something we rave about now from any bowler. But never had the smarts to use it effectively.
 
This PCB mafia favorite Wahab Riaz has cost Usman Shinwari 1 and Junaid Khan 2 World Cups, as Wahab had average skills, less passion but more backing ensured he is preferred above Junaid. After sucking blood of Pakistan national side with his mediocre bowling and destroying careers, he made shameful decision to retire from Tests to play T20 leagues and continue to keep an eye on place in the ODI and T20 team of Pakistan to destroy chances of Pakistan in the next World Cup.

Wahab has been great in T20 for last two years,I read this stats on skysports since 2018 he has got the lowest economy in the death overs(international + others).

Wahab Riaz lit up two World Cups with superb performances, which is why here in Australia he is the most admired and respected Pakistan cricketer of the last 20 years.

In 2011 he took a 5 wicket bag in a World Cup semi-final v India in India.

In 2015 he bowled the most electrifying World Cup spell since Shane Bond in a World Cup quarter-final v Australia in Australia.

I think a lot of Pakistanis need to learn to show Wahab Riaz the respect he deserves. In 99% of cases he has achieved more than they ever will.

you need to learn basics of cricket. He was the best bowler in both the 50 overs world cup.Junaid is just trash and way too mediocre with zero skills.Wahab is most passionate cricketer I have ever seen.You know nothing about cricket.

yeah so true.He has been wonderful in t20s of late.He bowls those Yorkers regularly slower balls and everything and he has been the best pacer in PSL.He should definitely be part of world t20 this year.

Don't know about T20. But in ODI whenever i see him he gets thrashed around. May be his record against top teams are very poor?

Did well in all ICC ODI events(minus 2017 CT match against India) he has played so that counts a lot. Was never great in JAMODIs

Because with the big bats we have these days speed doesn’t matter. Sure 150/155kph is hard to react against but 140/145kph which is express most bowlers average speed is pretty manageable on slow tracks. Plus edges fly to boundary faster takes pressure off.

The Sami and Wahabs of this work could do with showing more control and make the batsmen play rather than fly the ball past them.

Pakistan players always talk about uncountables or unquantified quantities.

How we can measure if some player said he is more passionate now?
Still we are not able to quantify Talent ? Some one who looks good but can not do anything?

As long as this culture sticks, we will never progress

He was never a good LOI bowler.. look at his stats , a player with a bowling avg of 35+ to play 100 matches is just ridiculous

They dropped him in CT2017 , they went on to win the tournament

He was finished since 2015 WC, if you take another stats filter for last 5 years would be 50+ even worse than his overall career avg, but he is still playing at the age of 35+.

Only happens in Pakistan, also Misbah asked him to come out of retirement to play in tests. Shows how much Misbah can think.
 
Wahab has been good for Pakistan last couple years. Any bowler would have been smashed in last couple of overs by set batsmen of any quality on a flat pitch. Haris Rauf also gave away 20 runs. His first three overs were dece nt. However, Pak should use Wahab sparingly and give Hasnain and Haris priority now. Amir needs to show willingness to bowl good in more than one over.
 
All he had to do was hit the full length!!! The spray gun was on display today , should’ve seen how Shaheen bowled but he was toothless in the end giving out doilies lol
 
Hafiz would had tonked Afridi as well he was well set and in great form. Weise also is a good hitter at death, he has done it before as well.
 
Over the last few months, I have heard a lot of nonsense about how Wahab is at his best these days and has improved a lot over the last 2 years etc.

One can only laugh at that assertion. He will never be good enough because his bowling IQ is always going to be zero.

If he cannot fluke a few yorkers, he will always get smashed.

He will get hammered in the WT20 and hopefully that will be the end of his sorry career.
 
Tough gig captaining when you haven't done it much through your career.

Made some glaring errors in tactics, team selection, field placings and bowling changes.

Point proven weise does it again. At death many bowlers get tonked by half decent batman.
 
How many matches is this guy going to cost us before he is dropped? It’s clear he is done and only performs once in ten matches.

Despite a batting failure, Pakistan could have won if Riaz did not have a meltdown.

Therefore we need to cut him some slack, because he otherwise has been very good in the recent past.
Even Shaheen was not attacking the crease like he usually does and looks unco-ordinated.

Bowled absolute trash. Full tosses and half volleys sprinkled in along with the other rubbish. You can give some credit to the batsmen, but mostly it was just bad bowling.

He was great in the first 5 PSLs

He understood art of bowling too late, he simply doesn’t have the pace anymore.
 
Absolutely awful performance from Wahab. He does not deserve a place in the starting 11, yet he is captain and cant be dropped.

Well a certain fast bowling “expert” told me that he has greatly improved with the new ball. I think he used the word saucer release or something fancy like that.

So perhaps we should not be judgmental and let Wahab and his saucer release open the bowling in the WT20.

Also, it is quite interesting that in spite of improving so much with the new ball, he doesn’t have the confidence to open the bowling in PSL.

Can always trust you to take words out of context for your point-scoring.
For the record, I didn't say "saucer seam" as you keep alluding to.

Yes, his seam and wrist position have improved and have gotten more upright in the last two years. When he is in better rhythm he does get slight bit of shape into the RHB now with the new ball.
I believe M Akram has worked with him on this.

But as i have mentioned before, he looks washed up and the desire is no longer there. The action is not holding up well and the pace has come down as well.

He has always been among the best 2,3 bowlers in the PSL, and very hard to hit. However, that is no longer the case now.
 
Some more pure filth being bowled by Wahab today. No-balls, wides, 4s, 6s, he's playing all the hits again.

1/35 from 3 overs so far.
 
Saucer release is really working for him. Give him the new ball in the WT20. He has improved so much.

You have to give it to him. Most bowlers fade away around 32 33, yet he has actually become faster with age. Is still fit and his batting has improved a lot. Looking a bit leaner now as well.

However, I still don't want him to be in the squad for our ODI team again. He has repeatedly failed in ODIs and his record is pretty mediocre for someone with around 90 ODIs. His time in ODIs should be done.

In t20is, he does carry some variations that can come on view from time to time, like the penultimate over he bowled against England in 2nd t20i 2020. Gave away 3 runs in a penultimate over, bringing the equation of 19 off 12 to 16 off 6. But such performances are few and far inbetween. On his bad days, he can be extremely bad and singlehandedly lose the match. A lesser Shinwari like.

Not a very smart man , could not fudge his age. Looking at his fitness, he could have easily made himself for 31 year old.

In his case, lack of class is permanent. It is only a matter of time before he implodes again.

All this talk of him improving his new ball skills and improving over the last couple of years is a load of baloney.

He has done well over the course of his PSL career because the standard of batting in this league is pitiful.
 
4/17 yesterday vs Islamabad is Wahab's best PSL bowling figures in all his 59 matches that he's played.

He's also the all-time PSL leading wicket taker, having taken 84 wickets at 18.73
 
Shows the quality of batting in PSL when a rubbish bowler like Wahab is the top wicket-taker.

So when he got spanked by PSL batsmen what did it show us about the quality of their batting?
Btw same Wahab was also very good in the world cup, problem with Wahab is he Jekyll and Hyde bowler, either brilliant or awful.
