Those ads are hilarious if you know how power systems work. The most efficient thermal power plants work at 55-60% efficiency. Per the ads, this plant was somehow running at 101.2%, producing 430MW against a nameplate capacity of 425MW.

Deeply familiar. Between these pieces of trash, PPP and TTPTI, this country has a bleak future.Don't you know Shareefs and their team of Khawajas and Sher Alis are genius?

More of a 'if rape is inevitable, enjoy it' situation. No 'lesser' evil here.Agree so in the end it comes to select the lesser evil?

Tolerant society and secular state. Model would be something along the likes of Turkey 10 years back. I'd say Norway but that might be dreaming a bit too much. What type of a party, regime or state you want? An atheist society and a secular state? And what type of country you would quote for your example here?
Anyways, What is the update on solar energy? They say the cost is coming down and 12 cent a unit is possible now? Is it feasible as yet?

Solar has serious issues in Pakistan. Government lowered tarrifs and now investment is under threat because they won't break even. Costs vary by country and circumstances. There are places where its 9c per kWh.

Turkey hasn't become intolerant per se but I don't like the direction Erdogan is going in.He's turning into Turkey's Putin with the clampdown on press freedom, protestors, the patronage of IS and the like. It's still vastly superior to Pakistan etc. but was a better place 10 years ago.You think Turkey has turned into an intolerant society within a decade ? How such a quick transformation came about? Have they turned towards fundamentalism?
So, it seems solar is feasible now with the advantage of green energy?

Solar is doing fine.

Economy was fine ten years ago. There was a crisis earlier but by 2005-06 the economy was doing pretty well. In fact one of the reasons Erdogan has been getting more authoritarian has been because of the recent economic downturn(in relative terms). It's still afloat and doing moderately sell but on very fragile ground and prone to suddenly going south. This has also resulted in the Turkish public getting more vocal against him while his illiberal tendencies previously went unnoticed on account of good economic conditions.10 years there economy wasn't as good as now, that's why he's so popular.
