Started binge watching this yesterday (released on the 28th). Pretty intriguing. Details the rise and fall of Pablo Escobar and his Medellin cartel which was responsible for smuggling billions of dollars worth of coke into the United States and thousands of deaths in Colombia and abroad. It is a mixture of fiction and reality and ties in many real-life event such as the assassination of leading presidential candidate in the 1990 elections Luis Carlos Galan and the Avianca airlines bombing into the plot. Watched nine episodes so far and about to watch the last one. Will be interesting to see if Pablo is killed or if he survives and there is another season. Highly recommended. Very violent though.

Most of it is in Spanish with subtitles just FYI. But it is from the perspective of an American DEA agent.

Wasn't pablo supposed to be on CIA payroll ? . I might be mistaken but i remember reading it somewhere . I am on ep 7 not as good as breaking bad.

My only issue is the narration. Boring and unwarranted.

Not that I've read. Noriega was but he was playing both sides.

Watched the first season, brilliant series. Not sure how the second season will look as most of his life has been covered in season 1.

I binge watched the 10 episodes last week.Very absorbing and I found it more intriguing because about 90% of the interesting characters were based on real life people. Two thumbs up !

Finished the 1st season and found myself googling different events of the show numerous times. Was surprised to find that most of them happened in real life.

Hoping that it keeps up the momentum in Season 2, don't know how much more content they can get out of Escobar.

My favourite show in recent times. I went through the full first season in 3 days.

Started watching due to Wagner Moura. Didnt disappoint. Watched 7 episodes in a row. Will watch the rest when I have the time.

I heard good stuff about this series, but anyways, it's good for Netflix and Chill :)))

Netflix need to realise they are onto a winner here if the produce 20 episode/2 series shows on the lives of important world figures. this show is like a history lesson for people who wernt around at the time of Escobar.

More short tv shows on people like Escobar is the way forward for netflix, rather then trying to drag it out and make 5 seasons out of Narcos

Is there too much nudity and violence in this show?? I would like to watch it but too much of sex and gore is off puting! Can i watch it?

Not so much sex in the first couple of episodes but it gets rather steamy after that. As for for gore, 8 episodes in I didn't really see anything that disturbing although that is subjective.

I watched the first episode a while back, it was okay but obviously not a patch on Breaking Bad. But then this is more of a docu-drama than pure entertainment.

Thanks. Will check it out then

Yes , its shot in a docu drama style but I find the narration really boring .Also, would've been nice if they spent more time on characters around Pablo . Those guys are all very black and white .

If you can handle game of throne's nudity then Narcos is nothing

Anyone who watches Narcos?

Anyone watch this show? Im on episode 8 and really loving it. Its not top tier yet like Breaking Bad or The Shield (mainly because only a season has been released) but its probably one of the most beautiful shows Ive seen. Some scenes just look so great. You guys should watch it if you havent. Netflix is really bringing their A game when it comes to exclusive shows. Some great ones.

It's amazing

New season out in a few months

Prolly last season

The Wire is GOAT. Deserves more love. Gomorrah well worth a mention too.

Theres no doubt that The Wire is the best show of all time. And its not underrated at all. Anyone who sees it loves it. My top 5 are The Wire, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, The Shield, Game of Thrones in that order. GOT wouldve been number 4 if not for a poor season 5 and a poor start to season 6.

Can't wait for second season. Great show really well made.

Saw it when it first came out. Recently saw all the episodes again to build up the hype for the second season, however I may have done it too early and may re-rewatch it sometime in the last week of August.

Lol I did the same thing. Amazing show. Among my favourites in recent times.

Great tv show.

It's one season is far better than the 5 massively overrated seasons of Breaking Bad.

The only problem I have with it is that there is probably a bit too much narration

Mamoon in fact I think Breaking Bad is a perfect show. Second only to the wire. I myself find it strange how you even rate The Walking Dead anymore which is rubbish. Perhaps that makes your opinion of TV shows matter a bit less.

Great tv show.

No one genuinely loves a TV show because others rate it. Breaking Bad has been the most loved show after GOT in the past 10 years. I fail to understand why you dont like it. You were the rare few though. Everyone who I tell this show about gets hooked after she chokes on her vomit. Jeremy Jahns and Chris Stuckman are the 2 most respected Youtube reviewers and they couldnt even express how much they loved it. It has the highest user and critic scores on metacritic of any modern TV show. You hated it and that doesnt mean its not a GOAT show.

I also fail to understand why I don't like Breaking Bad given how people go crazy about it.

I have accepted that I might have missed something, but I don't really see what the big deal is.

Boring, slow paced and no suspense. There is nothing in it.

Won't recommend to anyone who hasn't watched it.

You must be the only one because breaking bad is amazing. Walking dead is become horrible.

Narcos was extremely engaging (with some great acting by the guy who played Pablo).

But not incredible.

They could have had a bit more bite in scenes rather than rush through everything.

Loved the show though.

Not comparing the two, just saying that Breaking Bad is massively overrated.

Walking Dead started on a good note, but it has become very predictable now.

Hopefully next season will be better.

Not a chance. Its not just become overrated. Its lazy and terrible.

Mamoon Breaking Bad is so overrated it's unbelievable. My friends were making me sick by having 'the TV show' conversation and just annoying the hell out of me how amazing it was and stuff.....

I watched it in a stretch by failed to realize what exactly the hype is about this show ??? I mean I've literally seen better suspense filled episodes in Castle, Nikita, Fringe, Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill that the piece of garbage known as Breaking Bad !!

Sherlock is probably the only show that I can watch multiple times without getting bored at all !! My favorite :D

:danish I dont even know how to respond to this. Sherlock is a very good show but not nearly as good as Breaking Bad.

Sherlock is definitely style over substance. Very good show but not nearly in my top 10

Bro I can guarantee if they didn't hype it and you watched it by yourself then you may have enjoyed it.

I watched it when it was still relatively unhyped and it was a good experience. Really liked the plot and character development of WW.

This overhyping by some has done it more harm than good.

I also watched it when season 4 wasnt out yet. And everyone who I have told to watch it, watched it after the hype started and they loved it so I guess it varies from person to person. I personally dont get affected at all if something is overhyped. If its amazing I love it. If it becomes rubbish like The Walking Dead has, then I stop.

Me neither. But few friends I recommended it to also had the same reaction as ahmedwaqas and Mamoon.

Walking Dead I cannot bear. I tried watching the first season and it was absolute trash. But that's because maybe I'm not a fan of zombie apocalyptic stuff.

Few years ago, I was in the same position with respect to Breaking Bad as people who don't watch GoT are today.

I somehow didn't watch it and everyone told me I was missing on something crazy. I started watching it in May this year and finished it June.

Initially, I fooled myself into believing that I was watching something extraordinary because I didn't want to stick out like a sore thumb, since everyone thinks it is the greatest show of all time.

However, there is no purpose in that anymore.

The last 2-3 episodes of season 5 were brilliant, but they wasted so much time in the first four seasons that it all felt very rushed.

Every episode and every season, I would wait and wait for something to happen but nothing did.

The pacing of the show was the worst thing about it in my opinion. One can sum up the first four seasons in a couple of lines.

Sherlock is amazing. Genius.

Watch 28 days later. It's got culinary Murphy and it is proof that if done right, zombie movies can be great. Just like The Last Of Us was a zombie game done right

The show is the highest rated ever on IMDb and one of the highest on meta critic. Both fans and critics! You could say that those reviews don't matter but a million fan votes and so many critics all saying it's the best ever is no coincidence. Plus when something is overhyped people like it less as Suleiman said. Therefore the fact that is is rated so highly and loved by so many is not because of hype at all. But because of how perfect it is. Of course there will always be some who don't think it's great just like I know people who don't think dark knight is great (just look in my other thread about movies). I even know people who hate the godfather. You just happen to be one of those who don't think it's amazing.

I will have to second this. Breaking Bad is grossly overrated.

On episode 7 now and this show is amazing!

Thanks for recommendation Asad. Spent my whole day binge watching.

I only saw a couple of episodes of Breaking Bad and the plot didn't interest me so I never watched it again.

A show needs to have spectacular first three four episodes to hook the viewer onto it. Narcos, Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, White Collar all had excellent first few episodes.

Nobody is going to sit through garbage just because somebody told them "oh it gets amazing from season 5 onwards"

The show as a whole is amazing according to most people. It just becomes better and better unlike The Walking Dead. If you thought the first few episodes were rubbish then thats your opinion and I guess you shouldnt watch it

Tbh Ive never seen so many people dislike breaking bad in one place. Go to Reddit or somewhere else and most people rank it as their favourite or second favourite show of all time. To each their own I guess

It's PakPassion, probably not the best place to discuss quality tv shows. There's a thread on Harry Potter at the top of the board right now, that's probably the sort of fare the average poster prefers.

Everyone has their opinions and I can agree with that but Ive seen BB about 7 times and it is second only to the Wire. If its not one of your favourite shows ever you at least have to realize how amazing it is.

To be fair, I watched the first episode then didn't watch another one for some time, so I can understand why some people get put off by the slow start. But to be honest, by the time I'd watched the 2nd and 3rd episode I was hooked. I think some people just don't get it, and that's fair enough. But generally you will find the professional critics will rate it as one of the all time great box sets. That's all that needs to be said really.

I agree. And most people on the internet too. Just look at user scores and IMDb rating. Once a certain someone chokes on their vomit then the show will grab you and you won't be able to think about anything else. As far as critical and fan reception goes I think it's the best show after The Wire followed by The Sopranos

I suspect we are a bit impatient.

4 years of Walter and Jessie bickering like an old married couple, Walter and Skyler bickering because they are an old married couple and Walter junior having cereal every morning is a bit too much for us.

Thankfully I watched it in one go. I can only feel sorry for those who were watching the show while it was still being aired, must be a torture to start every season with the hope that there will finally be a twist this season before nothing happens, until the very last 2-3 episodes which are admittedly brilliant.

I know many people who watched it when season 2 wasn't out and they all loved it. Narcos and Sherlock both are no match. Walking dead and white collar don't even deserve a mention. Why do you still watch the walking dead being that it's slow rubbish. Breaking bad was a slow burn with payoffs. You won't even enjoy the wire or the sopranos if you didn't enjoy Breaking Bad. And these 3 shows are the 3 best ever. And that's not my opinion. It's based on critical and user reviews and ratings. In the end that's all that really matters

Sherlock is amazing. Genius.

A self absorbed show with a self absorbed protagonist that often tries to be witty and clever but fails at it. Underdeveloped characters with sexual innuendos between Sherlock and Watson to make hardcore fans get all excited. The jump off the building which is widely considered one of the best scenes of the show was extremely lazy imo. years between seasons consisting of 3 episodes which are inferior to many great shows. And I personally think Sherlock is a good show

I still watch the Walking Dead because I never stop watching a show until I complete it.

Anyhow, I am excited about the coming season because Rick has finally met his match in Negan.

Obviously Rick will prevail in the end but there will be many twist and turns next season, with some big characters dying.

Obviously it's down to personal preference.

For me, Sherlock is far better than Breaking Bad.

Only problem is the lack of episodes.

I still watch The Walking Dead because it's still a really good show, although it's never going to reach the heights of the first four seasons. I'm just too invested in the characters of that show to let it go. Other than that I am pretty much in agreement with aliasad, The Wire, Sopranos and Breaking Bad are the best ever. I wish I could find something of that calibre again, but not likely.

Lol at people questioning the mental aptitude of folks that do not prefer the shows that THEY like.

I question the morality of those who continued watching game of thrones after the very first episode.

What's your beef with Harry potter man? Granted the movies are bit childish and overhyped but the books are really really good.A series for every age group imo contrary to popular belief. You can read them to your grandsons to bed and I'm sure both of you would immensely enjoy it .

I question the morality of those who continued watching game of thrones after the very first episode.
Pathetic attempt at trolling.

You have no right to question the morality of millions of people of different backgrounds for watching the show. It's the second best tv show of all time.

Breaking Bad.

It's the first show which I couldn't put down.

You thanked me for telling you about Narcos. Go watch The Wire. It is the best show ever made. I thought I would never be able to find a show as good as BB but when I watched the Wire I was blown away. It is easily as good as BB if not better. These 2 are the best followed by The Sopranos.

whats the wire about and are all seasons consistency good?

whats the wire about and are all seasons consistency good?

Just google the Wire reviews or "how good is the wire?" and you will see critics and forums where people are drooling over how good it is. People who watched it when it came out still watch it again and say its the best show ever. Its really well written and realistic. There are a LOT of characters however and dialogue is heavy handed so you will really have to focus. Just have to watch it.
