He is saying this to the post of US President and not necessarily to the person Trump. Modi secretly may want to give a Stone Cold stunner to him but you got to respect the post of most powerful person on earth. It is easy for us to say these things in internet but as a PM of 1.5 billion people you cannot sour the relation with United States. This is the same reason Pakistan is brown nosing him...the same USA that considers Israel as their adopted Child. The same Israel that is killing Palestanian kids. This is the same reason Khwaja Asif had to delete his post about Israel on the eve of peace talk in Islamabad. So these are diplomacy and when you sit in public position...you got to do it. India or Pakistan is in no position to sour relationship with America...irrespective of what they do.

Even then Modi shown tremendous statesmanship when Trump (umjustly) slapped 50% tariff on India. Every leader around the world, including powerful European countries would have surrendered. Modi didnt blink and kept India's head held high for which he even got praise in Western media. He is the only leader that I know off who stood against Trump's tariff tyranny. If Rahul Gandhi was Indian PM, by now India will be another USA outpost in sub continent like Pakistan.

I'd have agreed with you had he used US prez, instead of using Trump's name. Besides, no one is a friend of anyone in politics, more so in geopolitics. Just because you call them a friend, doesn't make them one.

In 2015 when Modi visited Wembley Stadium, then British PM Cameron said the same thing about Modi - "They said a Chaiwala can never be a PM but he proved them wrong". Was he prime moron too?

Who said he was plugging in US elections? I just gave you example of David Cameron saying the same in 2015. Modi's foreign policy is for all to see in this critial time where India is the few country whose ships are allowed to use the strait by Iran.
