Well that's dumb. Let him play first class cricket
Last round happening right now. Final towards end of December.
According to Ijaz he is not needed for SL and Bangladesh tour
Has he discussed this with Misbah or is he just saying it because he wants him to be with the U19s![]()

"he is not needed"?. is there a flood of threatening fast bowlers we don't know about?
U19 cricket is just a stepping stone for young cricketers. There is no reason why he should go back. Our coaches are absolutely clueless about player management.
He should be in the squad if not in XI for SL and Bangladesh tours
Awful
Misbah is not man enough to stick to his decisions, at least Mickey Authur backed the player he picked. Everyone wanted Babar out of the test team but it was Mickey that believed in his ablitiy. Mickey had many flaws but he wasn't scared or a coward like Misbah who makes decision based on the pressure of the media.
If Naseem Shah was not ready then why was he picked for the most difficult tour? To ruin his career?
He is a great talent but he should play FC 2-3 years first. We need some experience in the line up.
Its a bit disappointing as he was one of the top bowlers in QEA.
So would have been effective on extracting something from the flat wickets.
An U19 world cup is a pretty significant tournament. If Soumya Sarkar, a 26 year old international player who's played over 100 internationals, can play in an Emerging Asia Cup, I don't see why a 18 year old who has only one test cap can't play in an U19 World Cup. This experience will help him to develop as a cricketer.
He should be part of test squad and play 1 test atleast
The U19 WC is in mid January so I say that if he performs well against Sri Lanka (if selected) then he should be kept for the Bangladesh tour but if he performs average/ below average then he should be allowed to play in the 2019 U19 World Cup.

He was best bowler in QAe by a country mile. He looked pretty decent in Australia
If he’s fit he should be part of both SL and Ban tour squads. If he’s not fit u19 WC is the last thing he should be playing
Bowling long spells in sub continent requires a different fitness than 50 overs tournament. His body is still developing and its not worth it to risk his back which has just recovered in tests in sub continent. In my opinion he is future of our pace bowling and needs to be handled with care.
Though not sure what management has planned for him.
On the contrary he would have much less workload in subcontinent tests. 2 spinners would play who can bowl 25 overs a day each. One part time spinner like Haris or Iftikhar can bowl 10 overs. So his workload shouldn’t be more than 15 overs a day in much pleasant weather than UAE or Australia
I fear he could go into wilderness or his development would stop if he goes back to age group cricket now.
If its the usual National Stadium wickets, scores can go upto 500 and that would mean quite a lot of overs from pacers as well.
I understand what you are saying regarding age group cricket but playing a handful of matches in the WC shouldnt effect him much. After that he will have PSL and national one day cup, if he gets thorugh all of that, he will be much more fitter and mature as a cricketer.
KARACHI: After creating flutter during his Test debut in Australia, 16-year-old Pakistan pace sensation Naseem Shah will now spearhead the national under-19 team's bowling attack in next month's ICC youth World Cup in South Africa.
The head coach of the Pakistan juniors Ejaz Ahmed confirmed on Wednesday that he has asked chief selector and national bowling coach Waqar Younis to release Naseem from the senior outfit for the youth World Cup.
"Like I said before he will be our main weapon in the mega event and I want him to join the training camp with the junior players at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore," he said.
The former Test captain, who recently guided the Pakistan Emerging side to the Asian Emerging Nations Cup title, said once Naseem joined the junior team the pace attack would look very menacing.
Naseem made his debut in the first Test at Brisbane and impressed with his pace but was then sidelined for the second day and night Test in Adelaide with Waqar insisting that it was a decision based on workload management. He took one wicket his debut Test.
Ejaz also said that defending champion India was the team to beat in the Youth World Cup.
"Naseem will add a lot of potency to our attack as we have some other very good young pace bowlers and spinners," he said.
The defeated Pakistan squad is due to return from Australia by Thursday night and a source said Ejaz will meet with Misbah and Waqar the next day to confirm on Naseem joining the camp and take a progress report about his fitness.

The youngster is said to be struggling with a calf muscle problem.

This just shows how clueless the think-tank is regarding the development of young players.
One day he's sent to Australia in the senior squad and next he's classed as an Under 19 player.
No direction, no vision, no proper planning.

If Bangladesh can send Soumya Sarkar, an international cricketer who has over 100 caps, to an emerging asia cup. Why can't we send an 18 year old who's only played one test match to the u19 world cup?
It'll only help him to gain experience
No problem with him going to the Under 19 World Cup, rather the issue and concern is why send him to Australia in the first place when he clearly was not ready.

He never would've been picked if Wahab and Amir didn't retire. Actually forget Wahab and Amir, he wouldn't even have been selected had Hasan not been injured.
Pakistan were forced by circumstance to take him to Australia. I personally have no problem with him going to U19s.
Tbh, whilst Naseem merited a call up and the retirements had an impact in his selection, they didn't have to pick him. There were more experienced options such as Sameen Gul, Ehsan Adil or even Rahat Ali.
The point is that the management were not forced to pick Naseem.
If this is true, Wasim Khan and pcb management are really dumb. The purpose of u-19 is to unearth a new talent. Naseem shah has nothing left to prove at lower level. He should be focusing on the next level where he already has been selected and appreciated.a new talent should be tried out for Pakistan. I read on Cricinfo izaj Ahmed exclusively asking for him. Seems like he wants to win something and keep his job instead of developing new talent. If he plays no wonder then Pakistan cricket is going down because of such shambolic and selfish management
I thought playing first class cricket made you un-eligible to be apart of the U-19 WC squad?
If its true( and I don't believe it) The stupidity of putting Naseem back in U19 cricket is mind boggling.
What stupidity? This is only one single tournament. He will help Pakistan do well and once he is done with this he is back with the seniors. Don’t know why people are making a big deal of it.
How many test cricketers have played the U19 World cup?

Makes no sense to let Test cricketers play U19 World Cup

He is a test cricketer in name only. He barely lasted a whole inning.
