National T20 Cup 2017 : Kamran Akmal and Umaid Asif top the charts

You may not like it but Kamran Akmal and Shehzad are our best T20 batsmen at the domestic level!

Which is proof of the pathetic standard of our domestic cricket. Can't really take domestic performances seriously, must have the Imran khan eye of spotting talent where a player is picked on potential, promise rather than performances and statistics only.

Kami and Shezad will be back I guess. How can these guys score so much in domestic competitions against good bowling attacks and fail miserably against the likes of Lankan and WI trundlers?

Good luck Pak fans.

Well the stats don't lie! These on paper (and Salman Butt is 3rd highest) are our best T20 batsmen!

It pretty much sums up why we have been such a poor batting side in LOIs for almost a decade. Even though things are looking promising under Sarfraz in recent times, we are still a poor batting unit. We should not go back to these TTFs and instead try out youngsters with potential.

Mukhtar is only 23 runs behind Butt with having played 2 fewer matches. The huge SR difference makes it very hard to say Butt is 3rd best.

I think it's time Salman butt is given a go in the national team. An average of 109 in a T20 tournament considering he was opening the batting is astonishing!!! SR of 133 is not bad either keeping in mind his role was to hold one end up.

So Kamran Akmal who is a TTF at international level is the leading run scorer and Umaid Asif, who is old himself is the leading wicket taker. That's not a promising sign. I don't think Umaid Asif will get a call up due to his age which is a bit of a shame but it's fair. He hasn't really performed in the last few seasons so I probably wouldn't select him either, seems like he has hit form only this season.

One thing pretty clear from this National Cup that Pakistanis have serious problem against express pace, that's why Wahab ECO is so low, that's also the reason Sami's numbers are always good in domestic. Amir and Hassan did not play most of the time, so pace is not there for most part...In international cricket you will face atleast two bowler against good opposition...All these Akmal, Shezad, Butt are rubbish players, this Cup does not convince me to select such class of players...It will be terrible mistake to select these guys based on this tournament...

Great. Now we will see Kami and Shehzad crying to the media about their exclusion from the national team.

How can this guy Umaid Asif never played for even PAK A!!!!!! He is like 6'4"+, similar to other Asif and he can bat (averages 19 in FC and 14/120 in List A). Also, surprising that, guy debuted in 2009, means he was officially 26 then!!!!!! He has played only 51 FC matches at this age, but the guy is damn good - few days back he got Umar Amin (?), clean bowled with a near perfect leg-cutter, something I haven't seen from PAK pacers in recent times.

I think, one of the biggest failures of PCB had been that they couldn't expand cricket in PAK outside the major cities to the level it's required for a country of 230mn cricket mad population. Like Haris, this guy is also coming from Sialkot and I see a distinctive disadvantage for players coming from Sialkot/Gujranwala area, though probably that north region of Punjab in either side produces most natural cricketers.

Even in IND, last week Patiala kid Anmolpreet scored his 2nd 250+ score in 6th FC innings, but hardly anyone talks about him like Shaw.

The stats don't lie. They mislead, it is up to us to interpret them. Of course those who have years of experience in playing against international bowling attack will find it easy to score in a substandard domestic setup.

I would disregard them and give my attention to upcoming youngsters who didn't have the privilege of years of professional coaching and international exposure. Because their inexperience is their strength too. They don't have the experience of failures after failures in the international arena and their upwards potential hasn't been set yet. One would hope that they are free from any psychological trauma which the likes of Kamran, Hafeez and Shehzad suffer from.

Choha, ghar ka shehr wala hisab.

Stats don't lie.
Kamran at international level is a fraction of what he is at domestic.
hence shouldnt be selected.

MMHS umaid asif should be thankful to shoaib Malik that he got a chance Even in domestics.shows the sorry stats of affairs.i think he played in Chmpions league in South arica and was looking good but no one bothered to develop him.could have been handy.

Guy is in perfect shape for an English style new ball pacer, should have played for PAK.
