Wasn’t Babar Captain of CP - thought I’ll watch some part but don’t see his name.

Excellent piece of fielding from Qasim Akram, got a direct hit from the boundary. Looks like a pretty good fielder.

When will Imam try to hit boundaries. You can't always wait for bad balls.

Usman Qadir looks a better bowler in this tournament. Training with Imran Tahir during the pandemic has helped him

Good to see Imam improving

That adjustment in his technique has made him more dynamic. Higher backlift

Sohaibullah bowling some good pace as per naked eye. Definitely 140 kph plus. He can grab a PSL contract in upcoming season. He is 24 so wont be eligible for the emerging category.

Defo can only remember a couple bad balls was bowling all his variations wich is good to see

Definitely. Still takes time to get going which current Pakistani T20 lineup cant afford I think but good to see him developing his game which will be beneficial for him in other formats as well as future.

A very good spell by both sabaibullah excellent with the new ball.also good spell my qasim in the power play very tough for a genuine spinner and good fielding by the youngester

This improvement will help him in ODIs

Qasim definitely bowled well today. First time playing at such a level so would have been nervous in first few matches.

Sohaibullah has been impressive throughout. He is 24 so will need to continue performing, ideally in 4 day matches as well and in PSL too to give some shape to his career. Bowls good pace and hits the bat hard.

Qasim akram looks decent prospect .

Agreed. Even though he hasnt got much opportunities to bat or limited amount of time he seems a good bat. Excellent fieldier and someone can give you few overs.

Gul has the last laugh over Kamran. Thought it looked to be going down leg in real time but umpire gives it.

Close call from umpire, possibly got under pressure with Gul's appeal. :rizwan

Let's see Abdullah's game against spin.

Yasir starts off nicely finding the outside edge, but goes for four.

Oh man, the fielding is just awful in this tournament.

Abid top edging a sweep, reminiscent of Old Trafford Test but big difference between English and Pakistani fielders...

Misfield, allowing the batsmen a single. Honestly you could make a drinking game out of this.

These fielders need a good slap.

Another effing DROP !

I want to strangle these guys. What the hell man, we are so screwed as a cricketing nation.

Good start for Rizwan Hussain. Needs to carry on

Rizwan Hussain looking fluent. Starting to give CP momentum.

AS against spin is bit dodgy

He was decent against SP when he got going. I think he is a kind of batsman who needs one good shot to get going. Definitely roam for improvement against spin, should have used his feet or maybe played Yasir towards extra cover. Mid on was risky as it required playing against the spin.

Looks like with age, Amad Butt is forgetting batting. Not good enough to hold spot as specialist pacer. At the end, I am certain the biggest loss is Hasan Ali, could have been a fantastic No. 8 in Test & ODI.

i hope he comes back fully fit and motivated to reinvent himself as a bowling all-rounder in the mould of Razzaq/Azhar Mehmood or at the very least Rana Naveed

Saad Nasim gone. Yasir's been excellent tonight, and honestly if not for sloppy fielding his figures would be even better.

Saad Nasim is struggling to justify even his place in the playing XI let alone being the captain of the team.

Yasir has bowled well today.

Yasir has been terrific, might have turned the game this over. Great bowling and the wicket is helping spinners. No dew too.

Abdullah Shafiq reaches his fifty, but truthfully this wasn't one of his best innings. Should've been out earlier but was dropped with a few streaky shots against spin.

Still he has capitalised and must finish the job for CP.

I am sure his problem is deeper than what it looks - this is probably 3rd or 4th tournament/series he was planning to make a come back, then dropped out within few days. Proper diagnosis is not happening and the guy himself isn't the sharpest tool. At 31, Imran cracked his landing fimer and made a come back after two years because he knew how to manage himself and being a Sussex player, he was treated in UK. Our Mashrafee had 10-12 surgeries in his knees and he has more metal in left knee than bone, still he could stroll around for 16 years because no Bangladeshi surgeon even touched a scalpel in his knees - it's always been in AUS, UK and USA. I am afraid, Hasan Ali has some major issues which needs to be dragonized first, then proper rehabilitation, may be for a whole year. Cricket is among the softest modern games around, but only area that it stresses to the players' physical limit is fast bowling.

He has major weakness against spin, I wrote it in another thread - this is in T20, where spinners bowl/dart at pace on roads and 50-55 metre boundaries. He'll have major trouble when spinners are taking off pace and flighting it over eye line. But, a brilliant hitter through the line with top hand and wrist for sure.

Irfan Niazi is actually a good hitter but till now nerves have been getting better of him in this tournument.

CP falling like a pack of cards. Desperately need Babar at the top.

Also lets see how Abdullah plays this. Apart from a couple of diliveries against Yasir, pretty decent till now, though as Markhor said far from his best.

Gul getting his rewards just bowling wicket to wicket.

Very impressed by Haris Sohail's captaincy. He continues to get the most from limited resources. Liked his bowling changes today.

Agreed. But doesn't help when you have abid batting with you at the other end. Awful player in odis and t20s. The less said about saad nasim the better. While rizwan has been awful.

The Pakistan management has been running it's fast bowlers into the ground. Once they get injured they never come anywhere near their pre injury form.

It's happened with Gul and Junaid in the recent past and Amir was going down the same route until he took matters into his own hands.

Now I fear Rumman's career is over with serious recurring injuries and they still probably have't diagnosed the deep rooted issue. It's like the Haris injury saga repeating itself and now I fear the worst for Hasan as well.

Very impressed by Haris Sohail's captaincy. He continues to get the most from limited resources. Liked his bowling changes today.

Very astute chap if you listen to his post match interviews. Looks fitter too. Even last year he got this team of non-Balochi rejects to over perform their way into the final. I hope Shan can do the same with SP but they're using Talat and Bilawal for their full quota which is criminal

Zafar is miles better batsmen then saad nasim. Saad is an embarrassment to batsmens.

Zafar needs to pull a Javed Miandad. Need a six off the last ball.

Umaid after bowling a wide, nails the yorker.

Great game despite some abject fielding.

Multan, 5 October 2020:

Balochistan took the second spot in points table as they defeated Central Punjab by three runs in the 12th match of the National T20 Cup for First XI teams on Monday night at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Balochistan were well served by their hugely experienced bowling duo of Umar Gul and Yasir Shah who took seven wickets between them to earn a hard fought win for their side which was there third from four games, giving them six points in all.

All-rounder Zafar Gohar brought Central Punjab with-in touching distance of the 169-run target as Umaid Asif conceded 16 runs in the final over of the match with Central Punjab needing 20 runs to win. Zafar remained unbeaten on 32 off 15 balls (3x4s, 1x6) but his cameo eventually went in vain.

Central Punjab lost their way in the final stages of their chase once the inform Abdullah Shafiq was bowled by Gul for 54 off 41 balls (six fours), Zafar revived the chase but failed to take his side across the line. Gul had earlier dismissed Irfan Khan (1) in the same over he dismissed Abdullah (17th of CP’s innings) to follow-up on the crucial wicket of Kamran Akmal whom Gul dismissed at the start of the chase; Kamran scored 25 off 15 balls (4x4s, 1x6).

The 37-year-old Gul then accounted for Qasim Akram (6) in his final over to finish with four wickets for 37 runs. Leg-spinner Yasir provided valuable support to Gul taking three wickets for 23 runs in four economical overs.

Reflecting on his performance man-of-the-match Umar Gul said: “Due to Covid-19 I didn’t play for a long time, I took time out from the middle and regained my touch by practicing hard at the start of the tournament and I was feeling very good today. The senior players in the squad like Imran Farhat and I try to guide the juniors as well as possible as this is our final season. The aim is to impart our skills to juniors in the squad, we have some talented players and we try and play our role as senior members as their guides and mentors.”

Balochistan won the toss and opted to bat first, openers Imam-ul-Haq and Awais Zia provided their side a 63-run opening stand in 52 balls. Awais was run out for 36 (28 balls, 4x4s, 1x6). Captain Haris Sohail promoted himself to the number three spot where he contributed 23 off 15 balls with one six and one four before falling to spinner Zafar Gohar.

Imam who received the man-of-the-match award for his 94-run innings against Southern Punjab yesterday once again held the Balochistan innings together with an unbeaten 80 off 55 balls. The left-hander hit eight fours and a solitary six in his solid batting effort that helped Balochistan post a competitive 168 for eight total.

Pacer Ehsan Adil was the pick of the Central Punjab bowlers, returning figures of three for 40 in his four overs. Zafar claimed two for 34 with his left-arm-orthodox.

Scores in brief:

Balochistan 168-8, 20 overs (Imam-ul-Haq 80 not out, Awais Zia 36, Haris Sohail 23; Ehsan Adil 3-40, Zafar Gohar 2-34)

Central Punjab 165-7, 20 overs (Abdullah Shafiq 54, Zafar Gohar 32 not out, Kamran Akmal 25; Umar Gul 4-37, Yasir Shah 3-23)

Result – Balochistan won by 3 runs

Player of the match – Umar Gul (Balochistan)

There was so much hype around that guy Qasim Akram. U saw him first time The poor guy was hardly clearing the inner circle. He got some juicy length balls but he could not generate any powers in the short. Yesterday I also saw another overhyped guy Saif Babar. He got 3 juicy full tosses and he was hitting like no. 11 no Powers in the shots. Only Haider Ali and Azam Khan have power game among the new guys.

He smashed Zulfiqar Babar on his first-class debut

He only edged one delivery against spin all innings?

And he only had 2 dot balls against spin all innings?

There was one Ijaz Ahmed interview and Qasim started getting hyped to the moon here. Not really sure why, barely anyone has seen him play before this tournament.

It’s about the comfort & command.

Trust me, I am not down playing the kid, but you have to understand that this is a tournament where Umar Gul & Yasir Shah defended 165, so the quality is explainable ... and there, he is not comfortable against spin - foot work is not assured, neither that beautiful bat swing. In T20, spinners are to be lifted, not milked - with five men on line & four on inner line, basically you’ll have to play poorly not to score a single almost every ball. I don’t see that confidence in him to step out and lift spinners on this small boundary - hope he improves in that facet.

Very good point. He tried a slog sweep but mistimed it pretty badly. He will need to learn how to step out and hit a six.

In the first game he did that against Zahid Mahmood

Came down the track smashed him for 6, then rocked back and cut him for fours, and then rotated strike

Trust me, I've seen him play the likes of Usama Mir and Raza Hasan, and Zulfiqar Babar. He has smashed them.

But yes he's defo better vs pace.

Do you think he's international material?

And what tips would you give him to improve his play against spin?
