Babar vs Shaheen coming up.

Two of the best in the world in the formart.
If I remember well, Babar won the battle in PSL.

This is one game Babar has to win. I know it’s domestics and his level is much higher but still it’s true that he made two 86s when a duck won’t have cost his team (still they would have won); then the day he was required to play .... got a first ball duck and his team lost by 2-3 runs chasing 200+

He's not good enough. Babar is a great batsman with a brilliant technique, but he is not good at chasing big targets. That's his biggest flaw which will take years to work on. If he can improve on this he can be the G.O.A.T.

You are right to some extent but kindly look at the batting lineups, Babar Azam is playing with, both Pakistan and central Punjab's.

Babar just survived. Shaheen is playing some mind games :genius

Why are they not showing this live on youtube?

You don't need a team of power hitters.....u need Williamson Babar kinda player too....Babar Haider will be that there will be Sharjeel/Fakhar Zeeshan Hafeez Khushdil Danish to take care of that

What did he do? I missed it.

Removed the slip and put that fielder in the inner circle on the leg side implying he is gonna ball another in swing from full/good length like he was trying on previous balls however, he bowled a pretty decent bouncer to surprise Babar to an extent and bowl was just short of the fielder on the boundary. He again tried that couple of bowls later when Babar was on strike but at that time Babar was prepared and dispatched it for 4.

I have a question. Are you Indian or Pakistani? Kind of confused here. Your flag shows India but you know a ton about pakistan domestic.

Babar needs to play this shot in the gap if he is gonna play that in the air. Just like Abdullah did now

It’s not about power hitting - 86 of 52 is acceptable at every level. It’s about taking responsibility to lead the batting when odds are against you, as the premium batsman of the lineup.

People needlessly talked bad about Rizwan but he gave Haris a chance wheras Sarfraz didn't give Azam a chance to keep

This morning, I saw PP being quite vocal about Amin's innings - don't see that spirit for Babar's innings here, which is a bit double standard. It's same wicket, same ground and it's under light after 8PM in winter .....apart from the bowling "quality" is there any other factor to justify this? Remember, I am not criticizing Babar here ..... I am pointing to the post #8, which I wrote before the game started.

CP is setting up the Target not chasing it when you know you need to chase 220 odd runs then you gotta show the intent from Ball 1...

Some good hitting from Akhlaq and that too against Shaheen. 3 sixes against Shaheen.

Finally Parchi players are exposing, deserving players are performing and cementing their place in the team. For me, new System is working and it will get lot better in a year or two

SSA is turning into a bowler who just wants a York bowled every ball, giving himself zero room for an error. He needs to use his height and vary his length. Too one dimensional

Not comparable.

Here Babur was setting a target on a used wicket.

Amin was chasing a target of 220 and managed barely a run a ball.

One bad game and rona dhona starts

Not Rona dhona. I have seen him bowl a lot this tournament and he is just trying to bowl full length lbw or bowled length every ball. No variation, top of off stump. International he would get murdered bowling this. He needs variation.

Who is this guy, never heard of him? Hitting 3 sixes in an over to premium bowler is no joke...

Is a top order player, was highest run scorer for CP 2nd XI which won the tournament so got promoted. Averages 40 in List A in 17 matches but his Sr was 70 so looks like he has worked upon other dimensions as well.

Come on Amin was chasing a huge score and basically lost the game for Northern, which they could have won.

Zeeshan on the other end was going at 200 while Amin was at a run a ball 35, hitting full tosses for singles. The RRR went up to 14 as a result. It's quite possibly is the worst innings of the tournament in context.

This is a bad take MMHS. Babar was clearly batting 1st trying to SET a total, while Amin was batting at snail's pace CHASING 220 with a criminal SR of ~100 for the better part of his innings. Not comparable whatsoever if you're trying to say both were selfish. However, comparable if you're trying to say that both struggled on the pitch.

Come on you are much better then this. One was chasing 220 and playing for a draw. I am sure if Babar done the same people would have been having a go too.

Rizwan has given his opening slot as well as gloves to Mohammad Haris. Cant ask more for more to be honest other than maybe more matches. I hope Haris gets more games as well in domestic cricket to develop.

Good start for CP in bowling lead by Waqas. Have seen this many times in matches of other teams as well, CP needs to capitalize on this. Babar's captaincy would be tested here.

Haris hasn't played much...too

You know pitch is difficult to bat on if babar struggled to pace a inning .Just look at kpk batting they are struggling to time the ball .

Ehsan adil would've been much better option than the likes of imran khan, musa in test.

He deserves another chance in test format

I got three replies and I accept the reasoning - he was setting the target. But isn’t it true that Babar should be judged as Babar & Amin as Amin. I am definitely a bigger fan of Babar than Amin - but we are looking into a batsman rated to be best in world now and benchmark for his generation - it only tells, how difficult it is when you reach higher. I would have taken it as pass had he batted long and made it up - 39 at 118 in Power Play is a match losing effort in T20 - his 0 (1) was better than this, it gave next batsmen enough time.......he might get away with it on his bowlers shoulders but I have seen PP humiliating batsmen for far lesser selfish innings.

Your very premise is incorrect - the team was losing consistently before Babar entered. If he had not made those two 86’s, the team would likely not have won.

As long as senior players will be part of your team, you wont win... Uncle Malik and Chacha Ifti should take a retirement

R U sure that you have looked into the scorecard before jumping into answering - I actually had watched his batting both times, both matches as well.

No need to look at scorecard, not only did I watch that match but I have watched every Central Punjab match in the tournament (live, not highlights) - even to the naked eye, Babar looked a class apart to other batters on the same pitches, and brought momentum into the innings allowing other batsmen to construct around him.

Previously, CP was on a losing streak with consistent batting collapses and their leading run-getter was debutant Abdullah Shafiq. I am sure you know what kinds of teams rely on their debutant players to win, usually there are not many kind things to say.

Rawalpindi, 14 October 2020:

Central Punjab kept their hopes of a semi-final berth in the National T20 Cup for First XI teams alive by registering a thrilling three-run win over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the 26th match of the tournament played at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi on Tuesday night.

Left-arm fast bowler Waqas Maqsood took three wickets to help restrict Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in their chase despite captain Mohammad Rizwan’s fighting knock of 99 not out. Rizwan almost pulled off a miraculous win when he brought the ask to six runs off the final ball, Central Punjab’s Ehsan Adil held his nerve and conceded only two runs off the last ball after going for 15 runs off the first five balls of the over which started with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa needing 21 runs.

Central Punjab have now played all of their ten matches of which they won four and lost six and have finished with eight points. Balochistan also have eight points but have two games left, a win in either of the two games will confirm their semi-final berth. Northern, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh are already through to the last-four of the six-team competition.

On Wednesday night, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s chase of 175 runs got off to a disastrous start as Waqas sent back openers Mohammad Haris (1) and Fakhar Zaman (14) with-in the first 13 balls of the chase.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s worries were further increased when Zohaib Khan (1) fell to Ehsan who had returned to Central Punjab’s eleven in place of Usman Qadir.

Shoaib Malik fell for 10 runs while Iftikhar Ahmed was dismissed by Waqas for 21 off 13 balls (two fours and one six) as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stuttered to 98 for five in 14.5 overs.

Musadiq Ahmed (17) added 57 runs for the sixth-wicket with Rizwan; he was dismissed by Ehsan in the final over of the match in an attempt of clearing the boundary.

Rizwan singlehandedly kept his team in the hunt in his stunning innings that came off 68 balls and included seven fours and six towering sixes but narrowly failed to take his side to an improbable win. For Central Punjab, Waqas took three for 43 while Ehsan took two wickets for 32 runs.

Reflecting on his performance, man-of-the-match Muhammad Akhlaq said: “I want to thank the Almighty first, my target was to take the team to the 170-run mark.

“I am happy that I helped the team reach that mark as the instructions of the captain and the management was to set a total past the 170-run mark and we succeeded in achieving our target with a good finish in the death overs.”

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa asked Central Punjab to bat first after winning the toss; Central Punjab lost the big wicket of Kamran Akmal for a duck in the second over with Imran Khan having him caught behind by wicketkeeper Haris.

Captain Babar Azam was joined by Abdullah Shafiq, the two laid the foundations of Central Punjab’s total with an 80-run partnership off 63 balls. Imran made another big breakthrough when he had Babar caught by Mohammad Rizwan for 39 off 33 balls (three fours, one six).

Abdullah posted his second half-century of the tournament, besides the fifties, the right-hander had hit a century on his T20 debut which was Central Punjab’s opening match against Southern Punjab. Abdullah hit five fours and two sixes in his 63-run innings today which took 48 balls.

Central Punjab were then well served by man-of-the-match Muhammad Akhlaq who repaid the faith of his management in his abilities (earned a call-up in the First XI squad for the Rawalpindi-leg) following his fine run in the National T20 Cup for Second XI teams at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore with a dazzling unbeaten 50 off 29 balls. Akhlaq hit four fours and three sixes, all three sixes came off one Shaheen Shah Afridi over (17th over of the innings).

Central Punjab ended their innings at 174 for four; Imran Khan and Usman Shinwari took two wickets each for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Scores in brief

Central Punjab 174-4, 20 overs (Abdullah Shafiq 63, Muhammad Akhlaq 50 not out, Babar Azam 39; Usman Shinwari 2-20, Imran Khan Snr 2-24)

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 171-6, 20 overs (Mohammad Rizwan 99 not out, Iftikhar Ahmed 21; Waqas Maqsood 3-43, Ehsan Adil 2-32)

Result – Central Punjab won by three runs

Man-of-the-match – Mohammad Akhlaq (Central Punjab)

Yes they were on a losing streak abid and saad could hardly go at run a ball and I dont think any of them made a 50 I think people would rather prefer abid and and saad over babar

Babar is consistent and he knows his role the pitch was not a belter like the first one thier was some swing on offer that partnership actually won them the game if he had got out in the power play they proberly not have made that much

Have you seen the batting line up that he has his job is to play the full 20 overs and everyone bat around him
