Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif landed in Lahore on Sunday after spending over 10 days in London, DawnNews reported.

The former premier arrived in the city with his daughter, Maryam Nawaz, and headed straight to his Jati Umra residence. On Dec 5, the two had departed for London to see Kulsoom Nawaz, the former prime minister's wife, who has been undergoing treatment for cancer in the British capital for some time.

Addressing media in London before his departure for Pakistan on Saturday, Nawaz had announced that he would spearhead a fully-fledged movement for the rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution in the country.

The announcement had come after the Supreme Court rejected PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi's petition for Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan's disqualification.

On Saturday, Nawaz had bitterly criticised the apex court, alleging that it had adopted double standards in handling his case and that of the PTI chief.

Drawing parallels, Sharif said that while he had been sacked in the Panama Papers case for not receiving a salary — amounting to a few thousand dirhams — from his son’s company, Imran Khan had been acquitted despite the fact that he had admitted to having hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of business transactions through his offshore company Niazi Services Ltd.

“This double standard is not acceptable anymore and I’ll launch a movement across the country with full force for the supremacy of law and Constitution,” he had declared.

Nawaz and his daughter are set to appear before an accountability court in Islamabad in corruption cases next week.

Hahahhaha rule of law and Nawaz.this man is desperate and he is going to shot himself the the feet [MENTION=133397]WebGuru[/MENTION].

I am really confused, is he saying that the rule of law wasn't really in our country before this announcement? If it wasn't then it begs the question what on earth did he spend the last 4 years of his rule doing? Or is he calling himself corrupt and incapable?

The second question, his party is still ruling the country and also ruling Punjab so is he saying that they have been doing a poor job of maintaining law? Who is the leader of the party?

OKARA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairperson Imran Khan while calling former prime minister Nawaz Sharif a coward, said that the Pakistan Muslim League-N chief is incapable of initiating a movement against the judiciary.

The PTI chief was addressing a large crowd of party workers and supporters at a party rally at Okara’s football ground.

The PTI chairman jibed at Nawaz's earlier statement about running a campaign protesting the recent judgement in the disqualification reference, which cleared Imran Khan.

Imran said that in the disqualification reference against him, he provided 60 documents in the judicial proceedings, whereas, Nawaz only presented a Qatari letter to justify his wealth.

“Have you ever run a campaign?” said Imran, mocking the former prime minister.

Imran Khan while directing his statements to Nawaz Sharif, said that corruption is carried out while holding power. “I have never been in power,” said Imran.

“Since four years PTI has been in power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ask anyone if I ever built any factory, took a loan or did nepotism, and if you can prove even one thing I will leave politics,” said Imran.

The PTI chief asked the participants to guard the rights of minorities, while condemning the terrorist attack on a church in Quetta today.

He said that the nation should give equal rights to minorities so that they can have equal participation in the making of new Pakistan.

The PTI chief asked the participants to guard the rights of minorities, while condemning the terrorist attack on a church in Quetta today.

Earlier, the party chairman arrived at the venue and was seated alongside other top PTI leaders, including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, Aleem Khan, and others on an 80-feet long stage specially set up for the rally.

A large crowd of supporters, including several women, had gathered at the venue for the PTI rally. PTI member Ashraf Sonhar earlier told Geo News that seating arrangements had been made for about 20,000 people for the rally.

According to the DPO, a separate enclosure has been set for women, and rally participants would undergo security checking before entering the venue.

Preparations were also made for helipad at a cricket ground near the rally site.

The PTI rally in Okara comes two days after the Supreme Court disqualified former-Secretary General Jahangir Tareen but ruled in favour of chairperson Imran Khan in its judgment on two disqualification petitions filed by Hanif Abbasi, a leader of the ruling and PTI's rival Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

The Supreme Court ruled that Imran had not been disqualified as a parliamentarian as the petitioner was not directly affected in the foreign funding case.

However, the apex court ruled that Tareen cannot be termed 'honest and sagacious' and stands disqualified for life as per Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution. It also said the PTI leader used suspicious terms in his statements to the court, besides not declaring his offshore company.

But on Saturday, Khan said that no financial wrongdoing was found against Jahangir Tareen and that he was disqualified "only on interpretation of trust deed".

In a tweet, Imran remarked: "Diff[erence] between JKT [Jahangir Khan Tareen] & NS [Nawaz Sharif] is stark in JKT's principled position & NS holding on to party office. Also unlike NS who is guilty of corruption, money laundering, tax evasion, concealment of assets; no financial wrongdoing found ag JKT - disqualified only on interpretation of Trust deed."

Imran further said that the difference between Tareen and deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif is stark, as Nawaz is guilty of corruption, money laundering, tax evasion and concealment of assets.

He added, "JKT you have shown unswerving commitment to the cause of Naya Pakistan & worked with utmost dedication for our cause. For me it doesn't matter whether you hold a position in PTI or are in Parliament, you will always remain right next to me as we build Naya Pakistan InshaAllah."

I wonder what Nawaz means by 'movement for justice', says Khursheed Shah

Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah said on Tuesday that only Nawaz Sharif could explain to everyone what he means by a 'movement for justice'.

"Is he planning to create a new political party and call it Tehreek-i-Adal to face off against Imran Khan's Tehreek-i-Insaf," Shah quipped while speaking to media representatives at the National Assembly.

"We have always advised Sharif to not start altercations with institutions. The parliament is also an institution which all other institutions take help from,a war between our institutions will not work in Pakistan's favour," Shah warned.

Commenting on the army chief's presence at the Senate this morning, Shah said, "There is nothing out of the ordinary about this and the army often takes the Senate into confidence, even the former army chief Gen Raheel Sharif briefed us in the past."

"Briefings from the army leadership are a welcome development for the parliament, which is why a joint session should be called for such occasions," Shah concluded.

Earlier in the day, Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Jawed Bajwa briefed the Senate Committee of the Whole House on national security during an extraordinary in-camera session presided over by Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani.

Speaking to the media after the briefing, Director General (DG) ISPR Asif Ghafoor said that the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Maj Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza "talked about the geo-strategic environment from a security lens, informed the Senators about threats to national security, gave an update on the war on terror and future plan of action."

He said that the briefing went on for an hour and a half, followed by a "very candid, very free, very frank, very objective" question-answer session.

"When we are together, no one can defeat us," DG ISPR said.

However, he refrained from making a detailed comment on the briefing and said that a detailed press conference will be held in the next few days.

Oh, the irony...I mean does he not feel ashamed at all? I mean how can PMLN supporters even justify this?

Shame? If you follow the events on social media, Nawaz Sharif has become revolutionary hero of our highly educated liberal group. He is seen as innocent victim of conspiracies by evil nexus of Army and judiciary. The way he has fooled these so called enlightened people using his paid media houses is best example of how mafia operates.

Geo has been working overtime justifying these attacks on judiciary mocking judges and they have successfully convinced PMLN supporters and liberals that Imran's case was far more serious corruption case than Nawaz Sharif.

Wasn't it PMLN who attacked Supreme Court in 1996-97 i think and judges had to ran barefooted in order to save their lives?

Not just that they also used money to buy judges and rule fo law in past.

They ran down a list of decisions yesterday which favored Nawaz, from forgiving his billions worth of debt, to closing old cases prematurely. The guy was corrupt beyond words. Do you remember the phone from Shehbaz to the judge telling him to jail Benazir for 7 years :))
