Use my new SS ranger yesterday in the nets for the first time and a full toss hit the edge. There is a crack now . Adding the pics.

Any advice on how to fic this. I have the face sheet on it right now.

Didn't you knock the bat before using?

I think sanding over the crack and then taping it with fiber tape could help but I am not too sure..

Hmm it doesn't seem to be a serious crack to be honest.

I mean you can't even put the glue through that as crack/hole is not big/wide enough

Is there enough room for glue to go in?

If no then sand it down and use fibretech edge sheet.

One of my bat cracked like that right from start (knocking days).

Probably not the best time to ask this but....how is the ping of the bat? SS Ranger has massive 40mm edges...what weight is your bat and how is the pick up?

I have a face sheet on , so i'll have to remove first and that can be tricky. I think i'll cut the side of face sheet, sand , put some glue an then put the fibretech edge sheet. How does that sound ?

:) true i still have get over the feeling of this damage.
Anyways , the bat is 2lb 10 oz, 38 mm edge, its the new 2012 ranger.
The ping was awesome even before i did the knocking. The weight is more towards the bottom but i loved the pickup when i was using it yesterday. Will post pics of the bat after i repair it .

Would love to see it after repair, cuz same thing happened to my SS one. I took it to the shop for repairing, and they need 2 days for it. So, I didn't give my bat, in the fear of they might damage it. And, if it works for you, I'll go through the same process.

Salam - 2 -3 hours is not normally enough for a fresh bat...but as people say you need to take the anti scuff off and then sand it down.

There is no need for glue etc, and personally, if it was my bat, I would oil it and then put a new scuff sheet on....

I wouldnt take sheet of as it may peel wood from that are i would just wrap the crack and surrounding area with edge tape

As other have said if you peel off the scuff sheet lot of wood would come off along the sheet.

Happened to my new bat, it was Redback. I knocked it for a bit then peeled the scuff sheet off as I feared there is a crack so wood came off along it :))

So won't suggest that :)

Since it had a scuff sheet for a while, residue would be still there once you peel the scuff sheet.

Fix in progress

So after all the expert advice i got, i tried to remove the scuff sheet ( I guess CD bhai i already before u replied)
Since this is a brand new bat the sheet was put only 1 week back after knocking was done so luckily it came of easily. As suggested remove sideways 90 degress to the grains.
I did sand off the crack : here are the pics

There gap was enough to put the famous (in US) Gorilla glue . So just added a little bit and now its on a 24 hr rest period.
Pics after the glue and also pics of the bat:

The bat looks really good and the edges are massive as well!:19:

I would suggest to oil it a bit more as SS bats are slightly drier than rest, hence they easily crack.

After oiling on edges I would suggest you to put edge tape and then regular scuff sheet on top of that.

Should have used PVA glue, it can flex.
Gorilla glue is not good, too brittle.

If you are in the US and you bought it from a US retailer then the repairs might be covered under warranty during the first six months. Where did you buy it from?
