Hello,

I have a (half a decade) old laptop Dell Inspiron N5110 that is rocking a gen 2 i5 with 6 GB DDR2 RAM and running Windows 7 Home Premium as it's operating system. The graphics is Intel Integrated Graphics 3000 series. (Yes I agree pretty low tech).

About a month ago I had this problem where my built in speakers were sounding very low volume and I had difficulty hearing anything I could play on Youtube or even any other website for that matter ~ I always almost had to plug in my earphones to listen or watch a movie successfully.

I googled this problem and from the official Microsoft website I found that if I enable the sound enhancement for my playback devices and use the Loudness Equalization feature, the sound of my speakers in the Laptop would exponentially increase and for 4 weeks I enjoyed surfing the web without any problems since all videos had decent volume coming out of them due to the mentioned enhancement.

Today I just found out that enabling this enhancement on my playback device actually increases the sound of the system (so online videos and clicks/ notifications) however any mp3, mp4 or any sort of media on the PC when I run using any Media player (Itunes, VLC, Windows Media Player, MPC) has no sound whatsoever. When I close the enhancement I can play media on my PC with sound perfectly but the minute I open the Loudness Equalization sound on Local Media using any Media Player will disappear.

Any workaround for this problem guys? I need good speaker volume on System Sounds and online video + the ability to play Media locally as well.

On most laptop many youtube videos are barely audible , the best option is to use external speaker. A decent 2.1 speakers delivers much better sound.

Alternatively you can download youtube video on laptop and play it from there. Most software players like mpc-hc , vlc can boost volume upto 4 time.

Downloading youtube Videos is a hassle brother, I know local MPs can boost the sound like VLC and MPC however, what if I am watching a Twitter Video or not Youtube for that matter then what do I do, the Loudness Equalization actually enhances all online sounds since it increases the base volume of the speakers which control notifications and sound coming from your card.

However, the problem is that this enhancement disables me to play any Media locally on my PC, which is why I need a workaround to increase online sound and computer notification while all the while being able to play local media as well (without any problems)

Any suggestions on how this could be done ??
