Negative Talk? "We're not going to get Warner and Smith out for five runs again" : Mickey Arthur

I am all for a realistic assessment of problems but saying this in front of media is throwing in the towel! We have 4 matches to go, and the message should have been, we got you once Warner and Smith, we will get you again.

Whilst Pakistan will of course not give up and his advice to his team behind closed doors would be very specific, but pressers are meant for public consumption. They are meant to send messages to the opposition and reassure the fans.

They arent meant to be "bare it all" sessions which one would have with their analyst!

Yes journalists will ask what they like but experienced campaigners/media staff should be clear about their objectives when delivering their messages in press conferences.

He meant Amir will get a hattrick in the next match and Australia will lose Warner, Smith and whichever loser comes after them for zero runs.

I think he meant that Pakistan won't be lucky to get them out cheaply all the time.

Rightly so.

He meant Pakistan should cash on occasions in which they manage to displace both the batsmen quite cheaply.

It's almost impossible to get them out cheaply 5 times in 5 games.

It obviously wasn't meant to be taken literally. He was making a point that they let an opportunity slip.

If you can't chase 260 ODIs in this era, and act like this is the 260 of yesteryear, you shouldn't be playing ODIs anymore.. better yet we should just stop playing this format

He was spot on. They are Aussies best batsmen and at home they just destroy oppositions single handedly. Pakistan got them out cheaply and exposed their inexperienced middle order and out of form players but only to give 200 runs for last five wickets. It's an opportunity missed.

I am still puzzle about what people see in mickey Arthur.

He was ultimate failure as a coach. Even now, he's failing again and again.

All the blame, he pushes away to others.

He even developed the bad habit of putting dirty laundry in front of public.

When there is someone inside the house exposing all the bad things to make it in order.. It will be hard for everyone inside and outside to swallow..

In this case he was marking the point that an opportunity was missed at the players.. warner can decimate the opposition even in tests going at 10 RPO.. Smith will grind the opposition makes a run a ball 80 or 100 to set them up for a 350+ total.. Both gone cheaply and they couldnt make 270 and they are 100 runs short of their plan A..

Asking players and the captain to cash in on occasions which MSD does the best...I dont see any negativity in the statement rather what pakistan did was a negative approach brushed along the side of MISBAHICS

I think he is being positive here.
He means to say Pakistan will get smith and Warner out for ducks in the next games.

Who is being negative now? :yk

last time he said "bowlers are tired" in middle of Sydney test match and then in 2nd inning bowlers went at RR7.5 :afridi1

Nah

He's basically saying we messed up hard by letting them get 200+ considering how well we bowled early

Not only is he incompetent and frankly out of his place he is also Captain Obvious

This statement in my view is not Negative.

It cannot be taken literally. It just means that this does not happen everyday.

Our bowling attack is not worldclass so we were able to dislodge their best two batsman for 5 runs, we should not have allowed them to go past 200.

Just don't let them have a 100+ run partnership. Or get both of them out before 50. If one of them sticks, then everyone will bat around them. Which sucks, since their whole lineup is full of hitters.

Indeed, two world class batsmen aren't going to be dismissed so cheaply in the next four ODIs so you have to make these opportunities count which of course we didn't.

But this is Bash Arthur season so his critics will pounce on anything really.

He has a point, smith and warner are gun odi players especially in Australian conditions not many times will you get both out for less than 10 and than have Australia at 79-5. In that position it's imperative Australia are dismissed for less than 200.

Arthur is known for screwing up things for the home team through his action s and statements in the middle of tournaments and thus ends up making it easy for the opp camp.
