My state Assam has produced very few famous people. It's something that we have always regretted.

But this is something that has made all of us Assamese people proud. In fact this is the proudest moment for all of us Assamese people.

Bhupen Hazarika, the son of our state, has been announced as one of the 3 inductees of Bharat Ratna award this year.

Hearty congrats of Pranab Da and Mr. Deshmukh as well.

Congratulations to them all especially former President Mukherjee - a 2 x finance minister, defence minister, foreign minister, the 13th President of India and someone who is admired across the political divide. It's a shame he never got a chance to become PM.

First time I heard about Bhupen Hazarika sadly was AR rahmans version of national song, he stood out the most.

In those times got to know about his life, he has lived a very progressive life keeping culture alive, one of those progressive voices of our country which we don't have anymore.
