Fell out of form and favour during the last T20 world cup. Selectors have decided that Conway's good enough with the gloves and they'd rather have an extra batsman. Allen is raw, but he's also young and obviously full of talent, and given that Guptill is looking to be on his last legs they're clearly backing him to be a long-term part of the side.
