Its 2-0 victory over West Indies in the three-match series takes it atop the MRF Tyres ICC T20I Team Rankings

New Zealand have returned to the top of the MRF Tyres ICC T20I Team Rankings after winning the three-match series against the Windies by 2-0.

New Zealand had entered the series against the Windies in third place behind Pakistan (124 points) and India (121 points) on 120 points.

New Zealand moved ahead of India after winning the first T20I by 47 runs and then leapfrogged Pakistan into the number-one position after clinching the third T20I by 119 runs. The second T20I was rained-off.

New Zealand are now on 126 points, while the Windies have dropped from 120 points to 115 points in fifth position.

New Zealand had last held the number-one position in October 2017, before they slipped to third following their series loss to India in November.

New Zealand will now put their number-one ranking on the line when they will take on Pakistan in the three-match series to be played on 22, 25 and 28 January. To retain the top spot, the

Blackcaps will have to beat Pakistan by 2-1 or better. Their failure to win the series will mean Pakistan will be back at the top of the table.

Clearly deserve it. I expect us to get it back. If Imad Wasim is fit in time for the T20I series, I don't expect the New Zealandars to play him too well.

Thoroughly deserve it.They are the better team.pakistani team with this batting line up will surely lose to this kiwi side.

Pakistan ranked too high in T20, Apart from Fakhar Zamaan we have no hitters in the top 6, it's a recipe for disaster.

Not too fussed, adds a bit of context to the NZ Pakistan T20 series, can't wait!

Actually, this is great for the series.

#1 ranked side vs. #2 ranked side.

Has there ever happened before in T20I?

Congratulations...
It's gonna be No.1 vs No.2 now in T20Is... mouth watering prospect....
Only thing that can blow away Pakistan in T20Is vs NZ is Colin Munro

Don't forget Guptil and Williamson, feel like both love to bat against Pakistan.

In the bowling department, we have struggled to play Tim Southee in the past as well.

NZ is a good team overall but Munro is in beast mode specially in T20Is.
3 T20I hundreds and all in last one year.

Munro is in crazy form, scoring runs for fun. Lets see how we cope with him.

It seems like if you can retain the T20 no.1 ranking for about 3 months it's a big deal
