New Zealand v Pakistan | 1st Test | Christchurch | Nov 17-21, 2016 | Day 2

Beautiful day

Dah Cricket is On

Thah Puss Space Cat is Out

Life is too sweet, the bear is blessed. I Believe in the Teesra

Can't wait for the game to begin, will be interesting to see our combination given the time which has been lost

Let's go baby. Finally some cricket. Screw all these other series. Pakistan v any team is where it's at.

In about 2 hours and 45 minutes time there will be play hopefully

I think it's gonna start early today at 9:30 Uk time to make up for the lost time and the toss will be in an hour 15 mins from now. If i am correct.

Are you sure? that would delightful, best to get some work out the way now before the game begins. It's great that we don't need to stay up from 1am although the time will be very inconvenient for us when AUS tour begins

If the weather is clear and outfield is ready then we should have a 21:30 GMT start, which is an hour and 36 mins away.

Hope we win the toss and bowl first. Cant wait to see what Amir will do on this track.

Game should be starting early today so just over 1 and a half hours left.

Game will start at 10 30 local time in stead of 11 on the remaining days. Toss is an hour

Finally..waited all day yesterday and kept checking Christchurch's weather. Things looking much better today and don't see any rain coming. Less than an hour to go for toss

For these conditions Amir yamin at 7 and fahim ashraf at 8 would have been perfect. Would have gave us the batting depth which we need and also 5 bowling options.

Wonder what the think tank has got up their sleeve?

possible top 6 combos:
[1]
Aslam
Azhar Ali
Babar Azam
Younis
Misbah
Shafiq

[2]
Sharjeel
Aslam
Azhar Ali
Younis
Misbah
Shafiq

or no [1] with Babar and Shafiq swapping positions

On the bowling front Yasir and Amir are a given, I'd go with Rahat Ali in addition plus either Sohail or Wahab. They will probably go with Wahab after getting a fifer in the his last match.

I should have slept in the day to stay fresh and in senses to enjoy this match. Now it is like I am torturing myself by waiting still........

So how long left?

It's 120 am here. Dunno whether I should stay up and be disappointed with rain. Or I'll sleep and watch second session

God I'd forgotten about the trails and tribulations of following Pakistan tours to Oceania while living in Pakistan

if it starts on time then it's 1h 10m away.

Random names much?

Where do such left field ideas come from

Why do you think a Pakistani all rounder will succeed as a batsman in green New Zealand conditions

Also what about Cajun Ashraf? Bus kuch bhi?

So MR can you give us your names please. They might sound unknown to you but not to me. Fahim ashraf has got 2 fc century and a bettter bowling average then wahab and i am not going by stats i have seen him play and there is no reason why he shouldn't do a decent job at 8. Plus you need 5 bowling options hence why we should have taken them as they are both fast bowling all rounders.

Toss will be crucial.

I'm guessing It's bowl first at all costs.

Try being a NA Pak fan. We've got it worse. These Oceania tours come as a respite :inzi

The weather was a little better this morning, but not anymore. It's not raining at the moment but definitely not sunny. It's quite cold and can see some fresh snow on tip of the mountains.

Team fielding first would definitely struggle.

New Zealand is a beautiful country with very picturesque grounds, and I hugely admire what our Test team has done.

But the time zones make following AUS/NZ Test cricket almost impossible for us Northern Hemisphere folk unless you're willing to sacrifice a lot of sleep.

Azhar will be the key here. Needs to be solid at the top if we are to have any chance.

We finally won a toss.

It would be embarrassing if he lose from here... unless this truly is a green top..

No Matt Henry on this and Henry Nicolls gets another international cap :)))

The XI: Sami Aslam, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq*, Babar Azam, Sarfraz Ahmed†, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Amir, Yasir Shah, Sohail Khan.

Just get to 300 somehow.

A lot depends on the tip 3. Batting will not be easy for the first 30 overs. Azhar and Sami will have to apply themselves like they did so well in the 3rd Test against england

*** why is colin de granhomme playing
He either gets out quickly or scores quick runs.. judging by some of the comments I've seen by Kane, they're going to attack like McCullum did rather than back their techniques..

"the fact that NZ won the toss is good enough for me, don't mind the outcome of the test so much now."

Now at least we're guaranteed to have won one thing this Test :)))

Hes prob a useful bowler on thos wicket.

Well the toss happened but they didn't show it :/

Sky's coverage for non-England games is pretty disappointing tbh. They've got rid of pundits and just have a guy speaking in the background, putting the game on 5 minutes before the start time.

I don't think before Misbah retires, we'll see any impact of Arthur in PAK Test team. On NZ wickets, in a rain shorten game, I don't see any reason why Wahab should play ahead of Rahat; but Misbah is someone comfortable with his settled team. It's not that he is against Rahat or Imran; but he will hardly do any experiment. PAK will bat 1st, therefore Yasir & Wahab may edge past the selection, but had PAK been bowling first, it would have been a poor attack. In any case, on greenish tops, Wahab should be behind Rahat & Imran - wish he performs.

it's a good call. Wahab will a spray gun and he will be a waste in these conditions. Rahat is the best choice.

No Wahab? Really? This is amazing.... Rahat has to make this count

I like the 11. Wouldve liked Rahat on this surface but oh well. Batting looks good

Good that riaz was dropped and management selecting the 11 according to the conditions, but why rahat?

Even though it is a green wicket, I would still prefer Wahab over unlucky rahat any day.

Should have picked Imran!
