Decider set up for Sunday. Should be a great game. Pakistan will be high on confidence now. Will we win 2-1 or will we lose 2-1?

Amir Yamin or Harris Sohail for final T20?

I feel like Sohail bats too slow for T20. And we dont need a run a ball 50 there. Either our batting order will collapse or the few will take us to the end.

If we add Yamin, we can have bit of both. And he can be faheemish with thr bat, a thing that can be needed in final t20.

Should we drop Haris for one game?

No Haris is our safety net... this was one game. If tomorrow we are 50-4 after 10, I'd much rather see Harry walk out than Yamin.

cannot play too many bits and pieces players aka alleged all-rounders; Haris should play

I expect them to play the same squad. Umar Amin should be happy with how things went yesterday. In his case, his degree of exposure is inversely proportional to the probability of being dropped.

It's okay. He is at #6 so probably won't bat that much, but I'd have him over Hafeez because the latter demands a spot in the Top 4 and is a worse fielder with more ego.

Taylor replaces Munro for final Twenty20

Colin Munro will not be available for the BLACKCAPS deciding T20 match against Pakistan in Mount Maunganui on Sunday, after suffering a mild hamstring strain in his right leg.

BLACKCAPS Selector Gavin Larsen said the long-term prognosis wasn’t bad, but Munro would be replaced by Taylor for the match.

“Colin picked up a minor injury during the match at Eden Park and with a busy schedule coming up, we want to make sure he gets it right before getting back on the field,” said Larsen.

“We’ll assess Colin ahead of Monday when we announce the squad to go to Australia and at this stage we are optimistic he’ll be available.

“It’s a luxury to be able to to bring someone of Ross’s experience into the squad as his replacement.”

The BLACKCAPS travel to Tauranga today.

Oh no

Now when we win it will be branded as the biggest fluke of 2018 because NZ were missing a key batsman and we don’t deserve our #1 T20 ranking and we are due a reality check because teams like NZ will beat us 8 times if we play them 10 times

Don't know why many believe Haris can't play the shots? I heard the same from some for Babar, but when the situation allows it, both play a lot of shots. Next match will hopefully confirm this.

Pakistan winning the 2nd T20 was already one of the biggest flukes in the history of mankind... only surpassed by Pakistan's wins over India and England in the CT.

Isn't all of Pakistan Cricket Team's history a fluke as well?

I think the word fluke was invented after somebody saw Pakistan play

Lol Pakistan are the only team that can fluke games. Every other victory is well deserved if it isn’t Pakistan’s.

Is the number 1 ranking on the line?

I'd like to think we will win, but it seems highly unlikely.

Also, Munro getting injured is a bigger loss for Pakistan as he is a bit of a hit/miss player.

Haris should definitely play - need his stability in the middle order if things go sideways.

If we get off to a good start - should send Faheem or Hassan up the order.

Good performance by Pakistan makes the 3rd T20 interesting. Hope they can follow up with another good performance

P.S. We might need to replace the flukemeter if we somehow win the 3rd T20 this Sunday :P

Blundell replaces Phillips for deciding T20

Wellington wicketkeeper Tom Blundell has been drafted into the BLACKCAPS T20 squad ahead of the decider against Pakistan on Sunday.

Blundell comes in for Glenn Phillips, who BLACKCAPS Coach Mike Hesson said would return to play in the Ford Trophy.

“After discussion with Glenn, we felt he’d benefit from going back and continuing to evolve his game with Auckland,” said Hesson.

“Glenn has a big future, but at this point in time we both think continuing to get experience on the domestic scene is the right move.

“Tom’s ability to slot into the middle-order made him the right choice to come into the squad.

"Looking beyond Sunday’s game, we have a top three who are very set, so it’s important Tom can come into that middle-order and do a role for us.”

The BLACKCAPS play the third and final T20 against Pakistan at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. The side to travel over to Australia for the T20 on February 3 will be announced on Monday.

Colin Munro injured; Glenn Phillips replaced by Tom Blundell

The Black Caps won't have their best Twenty20 batsman on hand for Sunday's series decider against Pakistan and have also changed wicketkeepers.

Colin Munro has been ruled out with a mild hamstring strain and will be replaced in the squad by Ross Taylor, while Glenn Phillips has been released back to Auckland and replaced by Tom Blundell.

Munro has scored 41 per cent of the Black Caps' T20 runs this summer, even after only making one in Thursday night's loss at Eden Park.

His innings have played a big part in all four of the team's wins in the game's shortest format, and he will be sorely missed as they seek to claim the series.

Four other Black Caps have made a single score of 30 or more this season - Phillips, Martin Guptill, Mitchell Santner and Ben Wheeler - while Munro has four such scores on his own.

That is partially a product of the format - the Black Caps' middle order have often come in with a platform set, and a licence to go for broke - but it does mean a new source of runs will have to be found if they are to win the series.

Wheeler made 30 off 20 balls on Thursday, coming in when the Black Caps were reduced to 64-6 early in their innings.

He has batting ability that none of the Black Caps' other fit seamers have, and it could be a feather in his cap, with the squad for next Saturday's tri-series opener against Australia in Sydney to be named on Monday.

The Black Caps selectors are optimistic Munro will be able to make that trip.

Wheeler will hope to get another run on Sunday in Mount Maunganui to press his case, and to shake the unwanted tag of being the only Black Cap not involved in a win so far this summer - Thursday's match was his first, and the team's first loss.

He was pleased with his individual effort - he also took two for 36 from four overs with the ball - but said it would have been more satisfying if it had led to a win.

"It'd be better if you're contributing when you're winning.

"It was nice to have good hit out, but the win as a team is the most important thing."

Wheeler has been in and out of action with injury since making his Black Caps debut in June 2015, but has been a regular for Central Districts since returning from a hamstring injury at the end of November.

He said it was great to be back with the national team, having last played in a T20 loss to South Africa last February.

"It's always nice to get back in the squad and just be around the team and coaches and all that. You can get a little bit lost in the domestic scene at times.

"It's coming out of the hand alright, the body's in a good place at the moment, and I've got a bit of rhythm, which is nice."

Wheeler's batting was one of the few bright spots in the Black Caps' losing effort on Thursday, and included a sweetly-hit six straight down the ground.

"It's something I've always sort of wanted to have, and it's been there but it hasn't quite sort of clicked at times," he said.

"The more time you spend playing and the more chances you get batting, it's going to improve, and it seems to be going alright at the moment."

PHILLIPS RETURNS TO AUCKLAND

The Black Caps announced on Friday afternoon that Phillips would be replaced by Blundell in the squad for Sunday's game.

"After discussion with Glenn, we felt he'd benefit from going back and continuing to evolve his game with Auckland," coach Mike Hesson said in a statement.

"Glenn has a big future, but at this point in time we both think continuing to get experience on the domestic scene is the right move.

"Tom's ability to slot into the middle order made him the right choice to come into the squad.

"Looking beyond Sunday's game, we have a top three who are very set, so it's important Tom can come into that middle-order and do a role for us."

The move puts Phillips involvement in the tri-series with Australia and England in doubt.

He has been named in Auckland's squad for the fourth round of the Ford Trophy on Saturday.

Damn, the last thing we needed was losing one of our power hitters.

Too many slow players in the team now...

This will likely be the XI

Guptill
Kane
Bruce
Taylor
CdG
Blundell
Santner
Southee
Wheeler/Rance
Ish
Boult

No, it's a huge loss for us as he's one of our best and has been in great form. We've also replaced him with a slower player who significantly decreases our top end scores.

Looking forward to a win in the T20 series now that Munro is injured, he is a devastating player.

KW and Guptill opening the batting will be dangerous.
Nope, Amir can shut down Kane quite easy and Guptill has been on and off. I see both struggling to score early on and being dismissed cheaply. Munro would take pressure off both of them.

You're favorites now, we're replacing him with Taylor :))

Taylor is another Kane thesedays, he's lost his ability to destroy attacks.

Munro has scored 41% of our T20 runs this summer :)))

He's a huge loss that you shouldn't downplay.

A true no 1 side would not rely on one batsman. :shh
T20 rankings mean nothing, they change all the time.

There's no real things as a number 1 team in T20Is, the fact NZ and Pakistan are fighting over despite not being the two best says it all.

Munro is a hit or miss to be honest. I don't believe he will be in the team come next year, you are free to disagree with that viewpoint. Guptill needs someone like McCullum opening with him, not a one trick pony like Munro. Williamson is quite good in the powerplay where he finds the gaps with good consistency, so he's alright as a stop-gap. I remember Guptill and KW absolutely destroying Pakistan in 2016 in a couple of matches.

Just one match before this hellish tour is over.

Hopefully we can sign off with a win and not return home empty handed.

The last match shows we are more than capable of coping without the Sainted Seniors Malik and Hafeez.

avrege score in this ground?

Don't know the exact average score but the scores in T20Is in this ground have been very high. So run making shouldn't be too difficult.

Pakistan should replace Umar Amin with Aamer Yamin. If Amin isn't gonna bat in the top order, he is wasted as he is not really a finisher - Yamin suits this role more. He can also bowl so the team should be:

1) Fakhar Zaman
2) Ahmed Shehzad
3) Babar Azam
4) Haris Sohail
5) Sarfaraz Ahmed (C) (WK)
6) Faheem Ashraf
7) Aamer Yamin
8) Hasan Ali
9) Shadab Khan
10) Mohammad Amir
11) Rumman Raees

Yamin for Amin and rest is same. It's unfair to Amin, but that's his fate - had he somehow managed few runs, it would have been misfortune for PAK. But, all this because Ul Haq sent his nephew to cash on SRL in UAE, when Amin should have been ODI opener while Maqsood, Mukhtar, Umar should have been in NZ for T20.

Anyway, still 2-1 for the hosts, but it'll be worthy of a contest between No. 1 & No. 2. Despite being No. 5 vs No. 6; ODI ended like men against boys.

Mt. Mangunui is close to Tauranga city, on the north Island near Auckland. Have a feeling pitch might be similar to 1st T20i, but hoping against it. Pakistan after the win should just concentrate on playing their fearless brand. New Zealand will come down hard especially Guptill and again strangle Pakistan for runs, to take the T20 series. Yamin and Nawaz should play although Pakistan would be unwilling to change winning team.

Harry trying to hide his massive belly by folding his arms but charbi always finds a way. Bobby Bhai also displaying a massive belly. Pakistani mentality pait nahi tou sait nahi.

10 years retired Azhar Mahmood is looking fitter than both.

That also isn't a sukhi aadmi ki nishani charbi but more like a grandma with loose skin charbi. And these guys are our professional athletes. I just hope no ghosts show up in the hotel room before the third T20.

India retains the mace yet again, arguably the most prestigious award in Cricket. Here we are chest thumping about a potential #1 finish in T20s.

yeah by bullying teams at home?
first victory outside Asia (excluding WI zim obvio) in 4 years 2nd in 7 years..they are far from a great side..we drew 2-2 in England lets see what india do..we have lost our 2 best batsman in test what do u expect ? they cant be replace over night ..
and as much as prestigious the test mace is , if u offer any (unbiased) Indian to give up the test mace if it reverses the embarrassment of 18th june they will take it in a heart beat
