Next generation of batting talent in India

Fans view these generally as an audition for national team. If there is no reward , what is the motivation to watch !!

Well, there is motivation. Especially for the no.4 slot.

If not now, then in one years time, no.4, no.5 and WK slot will be open. Consistent performers will get rewarded.

Good idea but it will dilute the competition somewhat. I would have loved to watch Nagarkoti and Mavi some more though.
Nagarkoti has really rough path in Rajasthan team. They have arguably best/fastest bowlers in Indian circuit.

Yeah, due to Nagarkoti, Mavi and Porel, I thought that an U19 team would have been good.

With just 3 teams i think quality wise these India A and India B matches are better' than all other domestic tournaments (so many teams with state wise and zonal wise)

Even India seniors team used participate as 3rd team in 2000s ..now they have changed the format with winners of VH trophy as third team

Vihari is from the 2012 u19 lot and has really taken off in the last 12-24 months. Shows the importance of getting at least a couple of seasons of FC cricket under the belt.

Any players with potential at test level?

Pant and Shaw in test team already.

Shortly Shubham Gill should also join them.

Great signs for Indian cricket. These truly are fine days.

Ankit Bawne and Shreya’s Iyer will be the next on the list to get their chance.

Add another name to the list - 20 year old Anmolpreet Singh. Has been in blazing form for Punjab since his debut last season. Another good FC season this year and he will be knocking the doors.

Glad to see someone finally mention Bawne. He's a solid batsman. Hope he plays for India.

Two youngsters have really impressed me in the last 12 months:

1. Anukul Roy - good SLA bowler from Jharkhand who is no mug with the bat

2. Abhishek Sharma - this kid from Punjab really has it in him to be big. He's going to be a fantastic LOI player for India someday.

Need to do well in the A tours now to get into Indian team.

Pawan shah and yashaswi jaiswal looks top prospect from bowling point of view Mohit jangra and yatin mangwani, watch out for anmolpreet singh from Punjab that guy is supremely talented too. Ankit bawne is smoking lot of runs.

Their is this Seth guy from Baroda who seems to be a very good and handy option for us can bowl at decent pace and a pretty good bat as well, abhishek sharma reminds a lot of yuvraj a very good striker of ball has got a good technique an excellent fielder plus a handy sla

Vihari should've been played in place of Rahane. Looks unflinched and solid.

Abhishek SHarma is one good IPL away from finding a spot in T20 team. He is super athletic and reminds a lot of young Yuvraj. Next year IPL is very crucial for him.

Anmolpreet numbers are indeed incredible.Though its been only 7 FC and 5 list A games.
Next FC season and IPl will be crucial for both anmol and gill.
Another big hope might be the next yuvi -abhishek sharma.Punjab really turning up some real talent atm.

Not sure if Iyer is anything special. He didn’t look that great when I saw him in ODIs and IPL. But India are blessed with some great batting talent. Shaw and Gill should serve them for years to come.

Fantastic range of strokes. But i don't like the stance and backlift,a bit awkward.Strokes all round the wicket though.Definitely a prospect.Looking forward to see more of anmolpreet singh.

Iyer isn't anything special,he could be a LOI specialist in the middle order at best.
Gill and Shaw are 2 big guns.Anmol and abhishek sharma are also great prospects.
Sarfaraz khan has fallen away with fitness issues.Armaan jaffer mediocre so far, didnt translate his u-19 talent to FC cricket.
Mayank,Pant,Shaw,Vihari are already in.Lets see.

Iyer is a special talent.

If he ever actually gets a proper run in the playing XI, he will become one of India's most prolific scorers. Mark my words.

Iyer deserves to play ODI and T20 series vs WI. He's been judged based on his T20 performances last year. He's played lot of A cricket since then and scored lots of runs.

Hopefully some of these guys will get their chance in the odi team after the WC.

Get rid of the dead wood and give these kids a chance.

It's not like India didn't have good batsmen before. They had Tendulkar lol. But it's good for them that they're consistently producing batting talent.

You know one is getting old when players like Dhawan/Sharma/Kohli/Dhoni are considered dead wood.

Still remember when Sehwag/Gambhir/Ganguly/Dravid/Laxman in ODIs were discarded.
