Saeed Ajmal speaking on FaceBook:

"I did really well in the last domestic T20 tournament and I am hopeful that I will perform well in the upcoming PSL 2017"

"New Zealand is a great place to tour; people are really nice and its a good place to see as well"

"There is no batsman who has troubled me except for Sanga in Tests; although there is one other batsman who gave me a tough time in One game and we all know which one that is"

"The talent will never dry up in Pakistan but in the current situation, talent is coming up slowly for sure"

"PSL is great for our youngsters as its almost like playing international cricket which will make their transition to international cricket easier"

"You can enjoy fame but never feel pride and always respect players who are junior and senior to you"

"We dont have an all-rounder of the calibre of Abdul Razzaq or Azhar Mahmood at the moment, although in Imad Wasim and Mohammad Nawaz I see some hope"

"When I started off I was told that my fielding was weak so I worked hard with my coach so that it was rare for me to drop a catch"

"I am very happy that the PSL final is being played in GSL and I also hope that international cricket also returns here; I also hope that when the PSL final is played here, the ground is jam-packed as that will show how much we miss cricket in our homegrounds"

"I have always believed in hardwork and with God's grace you will see the same Saeed Ajmal that you used to see two years ago"

Wow Saeed Ajmal on fire!

That ONE other batsman must be Hussey :)

Kohli played him well. But Ajmal doesn't really have any legacy given why he left the international scene.

He must have forgot the hammerring kallis gave him in 2010 series in UAE.
Though he was a great LOI bowler and very hard to scoring run..

I also remember Yuvi hitting nearly every one of his balls in a T20 game. He just got owned.....

I think people are missing the point here. He may have been taken apart by AB, Yuvi or whoever but he did not feel difficulty bowling to the. :shafiq2

People are missing the point here , every bowler gets beating, has off days but it doesnt meant that he feels difficulty while bowling to that typical batsmen
Razzaq hit 5 fours against Mcgrath, it doesn't mean that McGrath felt difficulty bowling to him and there are many other cases

AB de Villiers, Hussey, Clarke et al.

Besides, he was a thrower and not a bowler.

Oh, look at how humble and down to earth he is! Always plays the game with a smile on his face, on and off the field!

How can a batsman be expected to get on top of a bowler when the bowler is throwing?

He was a chucker yes. But pak fans should show this guy some respect. Helped us win many games chucker or not.

Regardless of Ajmal's "bowling" skills, it was clear how tough he was to face. Sangakkara dominated him so many times, great batsman.

"We dont have an all-rounder of the calibre of Abdul Razzaq or Azhar Mahmood at the moment,

they stopped playing long ago especially azhar mahmood.. Razzaq wasnt in the time since 2011 CWC.. was only here and there making comebacks and got owned by tahir's googly and never returned lol...

"PSL is great for our youngsters as its almost like playing international cricket which will make their transition to international cricket easier

then y r u playing and still torturing... Tell ur friends AFRIDI, MISBAH and take them along with you... We have seen enough of you all, so please retire..

People who are mentioning other players name here need to remember that every player is able to get a good game or two against ajmal.

However, i remember clearly that whenever Ajmal would be bowling to Sangakara, sanga would manage him properly, and would never seem to bat as if he was being threaten by Ajmal.

ANd you really have to admire Sanga for dominating against a chuker

exactly!

This is why i stopped glorifying ajmal. It was unfair to the batsmen whos career he ended and the legal bowlers whos place he took

"When I started off I was told that my fielding was weak so I worked hard with my coach so that it was rare for me to drop a catch" -

And yet you ended up playing international. Just shows the standard of our sports. You dont even need any athleticism to play at the highest level

*cough* Mike Hussey *cough*

*Sneeze* he did mention him *Sneeze* ----

"There is no batsman who has troubled me except for Sanga in Tests; although there is one other batsman who gave me a tough time in One game and we all know which one that is" -

I'd say the Bangladeshi batsman who smashed him round the park when he started bowling gave him lots of trouble.

Its almost like Sanga got to practise against a chucker so he knew how to handle them. :)

Greatest spinner since Warne and Murali and none of the current lot come close to him across all three formats. Had he played for a few more years, he would have gone down in the annals as the third ATG spinner.

Regardless, he gave us a lot of good moments and memories and is still a great spin bowler, especially in ODIs.

He's right in saying that apart from Sanga, no other batsman consistently got on top of him. He was on top of them most of the time!

Could have been an ATG,but he used to chuck and lost many a year before getting in the team a lot later than he might have deserved

Do you genuinely believe that his reputation and achievements are not deeply tarnished and largely bankrupted?

Nope. None of his records were forfeit, he was bossing it as the #1 ODI bowler for months after the ban. All of which tells any educated person with decent comprehension skills that the ICC accepts Ajmal's bowling as totally legal since they were the ones who let him do it in the first place.

People with agendas and trolls with nothing better to do will keep bringing up the "Ajmal chucker not bowler lolz" argument but you can't really help the stupid.

Just because people don't agree with your opnion there is no need to call them stupid or uneducated. If you watched him closely during his best years you could clearly see his action wasn't legal. He was very fortunate that he wasn't called earlier.

Yet he was cleared by the ICC. His action was 100% legal until 2014. The ICC determines who is legal and who isn't, not me and you.

I did not call people who disagree with me stupid.

Was surprised to see him getting badly manhandled by the Bangladeshi batsmen which also raises doubts if he was ever good without chucking.
How's he doing in domestics these days? Heard he was back in form a few months back.

well once you started bowling every batsman started smashing you. pre 2014 i remember only a few batsman getting the better of him. Sanga and Kallis played him very well

So a chucker who never played in India and got ripped apart outside Asia was the 3rd greatest spinner? :))

He destroyed India in India during the Aaney do series and averaged in single figures, lol. My post was about all formats so yes, he was better than his peers, Swann and Herath and much better than Ashwin and Yasir.

Why ignore the Anne do series? I remember Ajmal got 3 out in one over. The next game he got 5/25 of 10 overs. Lmao, he took the money from that series and got himself a hair transplant. Ajmal started regressing from 2014 onwards so it doesn't matter if he was not called for an illegal action. The only person that can compete with Prime Ajmal is Saqlain in limited overs. The ICC called his action illegal after clearing it so his achievements in between those calls are valid. And as for as we are talking about questions over chucking, let's not forgot Harbhajan " Chuckinator " Singh who despite his obvious bending got smashed for four sixes by Afridi of all people. 😀

This is exactly what's going to bring down Pakistani cricket (not that its not down now), grandiose Trumpian statements and support for chuckers and cheaters or maybe in alternate fact language ATGs and GOATs.

Being candid, I would say that you are somewhat delusional on this subject.

He was phenomenal during his career. Very few batsmen got the better of him during his career which is a testament to his magical ability of dominating batsmen in a McGrathesque fashion. His unique ability was that his balls had a certain zing to them unlike the normal loopy deliveries of other spinners, they many times looked like rockets launched from a bazooka and batsmen had no clue which way those rockets would turn. No wonder he was called during his prime as the magician.:ajmal

Mr. Chucker Extraordinaire. The one who redefined the art of chucking. It's a disgrace to all legitimate spin bowlers of his time that he was allowed to play alongside them. An absolute insult to the art of spin bowling.

To be able to cheat his way through for so many years is indeed nothing short of magic.

Give a batsman a 12 inch wide bat and let him play. I guess the record will be pretty incredible, or say magical indeed.

Once again demonstrating how awful he is when he 'bowls'. A disgrace who cheated his way to the top.

Time for him to announce his retirement from international cricket. Simply cannot bowl at a good level and it is easy to see why he was ordinary till his 30's. He wasn't able to fully master chucking in his 20's.

Why you bumping this thread to have a go at poor Ajju?

Is there some current game going on?

too bad Kami didn't face him much in the 3rd over otherwise his figures would have been much worse. Looked literally hopeless against Akmal.

Seems as though his chucking hid the fact that he was an average bowler whist bowling legally.

Yep, is very mediocre when bowling and not throwing.
Bilal7 - still not convinced he's poor when he's asked to bowl?

Not so easy to put the ball in right place when you actually have to bowl and not throw. I guess these thrashings will help Ajmal realize that and help him take a call on his future.

Such a delight to see him whooped. This is what you call sweet justice.

Looking forward to more humiliating performances.

Last time it was jr who give him a phainty, akmal destroying ajmal

Uh, no. He's easily one of the top four spinners in ODIs ever, was an outstanding T20 bowler and a very good one in tests as well.

Now, he is 40 years old and these performances tell you absolutely nothing.

Kallis smashed him way back in 2010 when :ajmal publicly claimed that he was gonna target kallis. Hussey has smashed him. AB absolutely murdered his chucking around 2013 and Kohli too has played him with relative ease. Clarke and Symonds as well. This guy had the audacity to indulge in 40 degree chucking and still talks big? :)) A liar and a cheat and some think he's a nice guy :yk

I am quite sure that he wanted to say nobody troubled him. Just to give some touch of fake reality he picked a random name from players who dominated him which happened to be Sangakkara.

He is chucking again. What is this nonsense? This is not acceptable.

Shahryar and Sethi need to get serious about chucking as well and should have a word with the umpires. It's ridiculous that Ajmal is getting away with it.

This guy is getting destroyed. Even chucked a few. His wicket against LQ was lucky. Ajmal is nothing special with this action.

He's chucking even in PSL? That is disgraceful to be honest. And then there are those who believe that Ajmal never chucked knowingly. :)

In both matches, he started throwing out of desperation but still got whacked. He is terrible these days, and has as much of chance of making an international comeback as Saqlain Mushtaq.

Blame lies with Misbah who is continually selecting a 39 year old alleged chucker who is getting smacked to all parts. However, a young guy with potential is dropped after one match (despite doing better than Ajmal)

Looks like Misbah is sympathizing with his old friend. Knows he won't play for Pakistan again and thus, selecting him out of pity. Hopefully Dean Jones and Wasim Akram will have a say soon.

Ajmal was bowling with different actions in one over..He should just quit or play fair. This is not acceptable.

Continues to chuck and continues to get thrashed like no tomorrow.

Time to retire. He has humiliated himself enough.

loool if it wasn't for his chucking he would have been hit for 5 consecutive sixes by Gayle.

If it wasn't for his chucking, he wouldn't have survived a year in international cricket.

Very unfair on Ajmal, give him a few years so he can get used to non chucking action
