Sindhis beat defending champions Kerala Knights by 9 wickets with 14 balls to spare as they readjust their position after losing first match against Rajputs on Wednesday. Sindhis Captain Shane Watson scored an unbeaten 50 and in convincing partnership with Anton Devcich took off with wining strokes.

Sindhis’ man-of-the-match bowler Pravin Tambe stormed into Kerala Knights with smashing 5 wickets in 2 overs and 15 runs including a magnificent hat-trick to give the team a sold standing towards victory at the 2nd season of T10 League that kicked off at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Sindhis won the toss, chose the chose to bat first and won the match in 7.4 overs by losing just one wicket.

In response, openers of Kerala Knights Chris Gayle and Paul Stirling lost wickets on duck and 1 respectively, which tumbled Kerala Knights. Kerala Nights’ top scorer was Wayne Parnell, 59, and Sohail Tanvir, 23 but by that time, team position was too weak to win.

T10 League is the world’s first and currently the only professional ten-over format international cricket league backed by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC), governing body of international cricket.

The 2018 edition scheduled to start from November 21 and spread over 12 days, will have 29 matches as compared to a 4-day event in 2017. To meet this new challenge and also to keep the event clean, the T10 League management has made many positive changes to bolster the execution and operations of the 2018 T10 League tournament.

From T10 Media:

Punjabi Legends’ Chris Jordan rips apart Maratha Arabians’ batting order by taking four wickets for six runs that helped the Punjabi Legends restricts the Maratha Arabians to 78 all out with four balls to spare in the 2nd Season of the T10 League – the world’s largest formal ten-over international cricket tournament – at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday, November 22, 2018.

The fifth match of the tournament ended with less fanfare as the Maratha Arabians’ battling line continue to struggle amid continued pounding by Punjabi Legends’ focussed attack in which Zahir Khan took three for eight runs that triggered the collapse and saw the Maratha Arabians struggling at 44 for 4 at one point of time and kept on losing wickets regularly.

Alex Hales with 32 off 18 balls and Nazibullah Zadran with 17 runs barely managed to stand against the powerful bowling line of Punjabi Legends. The much talked about Rashid Khan flopped in both bat and bowl and was out without scoring and without any wicket.

Earlier, Punjabi Legends scored 121 for six in their stipulated ten overs, putting up a fighting score, powered by Umar Akmal’s quick-fire 31 off 18 balls while Shaiman Anwar hit two sixes and three boundaries to add 25 off 11 balls to pose a strong challenge to the Maratha Arabians.

Among the Maratha Arabian bowlers, Gleeson picked up three wickets by giving away 11 runs while Zahoor Khan picked up two for 29 runs. The Maratha lead bowler Rashid Khan gave away 15 runs without any success.

I didn't even know it has started and, so many games have already taken place. Would have watched some game "like cricket".

And, what's up with Shehzad's batting?

They say this is cricket. I was not pleased by just looking at the scorecard. Don't know how it would have been watching every ball going off the ground, off Shehzad's bat. And, who were those gully level bowlers?

It won't be long before this circus becomes the 4th format of cricket, recognized by ICC.

The gully level bowlers he smashed were Mohammad Nawaz, Joffra Archer, Tisara Perera and Fawad Ahmed. Clean hitting at it's best.

Why do people even follow this joke of a league. Last year I didn't check a single scorecard and I promise myself I won't follow this either this year.

Aamer makes history with four wickets in four balls

There is something about shorter formats of the game and Aamer Yamin.

In 2016, Aamer produced a stunning spell in Pakistan domestic T20 League.

Defending a small total of 118 in Multan, the medium pacer destroyed the star-studded Lahore Whites top order with four wickets for just five runs.

His victims that day were Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal, Salman Butt and Sikandar Raza.

But the man who grew up idolizing Wasim Akram bettered that record with four wickets in four balls against Northern Warriors.

Thanks to his unforgettable display, Bengal Tigers got off to a flying start in the second edition of the T10 League with a 36-run win over the Warriors on Thursday.

England batsman Jason Roy's 29-ball unbeaten 60 (6 fours, 3 sixes) and his 87-run partnership with West Indian Sherfane Rutherford (47 not out, 21 balls, 4 fours, 4 sixes) had already put the Tigers (130/1) in a commanding position.

Chasing 131, the Warriors were never in the hunt as Aamer wrecked them.

He dismissed Lendl Simmons (44, 28 balls, 3 fours, 4 sixes), Rovman Powell, Ravi Bopara and Hardus Vijoen in the first four balls of the ninth over, killing the match as a contest.

"This was special -- even though I have taken four wickets in a Pakistan domestic T20 match as well," Aamer told reporters at the post-match press conference at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

"In the Pakistan domestic game, I took four wickets giving away five runs. So this was the second time I have done this. This time I gave away only four runs," he added.

"It was a domestic T20 game between Fata and Lahore Whites. I was playing for Fata. That's a record in Pakistan Domestic T20 league. But to do it in four balls today was special. I am very happy."

The 28-year-old Aamer, who has played four ODIs and two T20Is for Pakistan, says his variations surprised Northern Warriors on Thursday.

"It is obviously very difficult for bowlers on this wicket. Plus, it's T10 cricket. Bowlers are always trying to save themselves from the big hitters. So it's important to bring your variations as a bowler," he said.

"I bowled a few yorkers today (Thursday). I read the batsmen's mind what they were going to do. So I bowled accordingly and it helped me today."

Aamer said he learned a lot just by watching his idol - Wasim Akram.

"He has always been my idol. I have learned a lot from him. Especially the yorkers," he said.

"It helps in shorter formats. And in T10 cricket, every batsman tries to hit every ball. So you need to bring your variations as a bowler."

With bowlers like Morne Morkel, Sunil Narine, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi in their team, the Tigers could trouble a lot of teams in this tournament.

And Aamer, who has an impressive domestic record as an all-rounder in Pakistan, says the bowling strength of the Tigers definitely gives them an edge in this tournament.

"Narine, Mujeeb, Nabi, they are all very experienced bowlers. It has helped our team. Hopefully we will continue to do well," he said.

The gully level bowlers he smashed were Mohammad Nawaz, Joffra Archer, Tisara Perera and Fawad Ahmed. Clean hitting at it's best.

It further adds to the embarrassment, that he's smashed International bowlers.

I personally feel ICC will add this as the 4th format and, hence they're supporting this circus.

Then, they'll have 1 ICC event every year(Eg: 2026: Test championship, 2027: WC, 2028: WT20, 2029: WT10, 2030: Test championship ). This way they are looking to fill their pockets.

Everytime I tune in to watch - theres a dodgy misfield/dropped catch. Considering where these marches are being played someone will be getting very rich!!

As of now this will be a laughable comment and prediction but in 5-8 years time, Afghanistan will come very close to winning the T20 world cup. The talent they possess is incredible and are going the Windies route - focus on T20s, do okayish in ODIs and leave the Tests.

They have enormous hitters in their ranks - almost everyone from 1-7 are big hitters: Shahzad, Zazai, Shafiqullah, Nabi and then Rashid is a good finisher as well. This is a very dangerous team. They just need to find 1 world class Test or ODI batsman and their T20 team would be complete. As of now, they have probably the best spin attack along with India in T20s.

Pakhtoon beat Sindhis in a very close encounter . Sohail khan bowled really well that game. As for Afridi he really looked bad fielding bowling and batting I think he needs to stop laying league cricket altogether

Akmal Junior run out his Captain Ronchi and get's LBW next ball. Punjabis playing test cricket in T10.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued the contempt of court notice to the controversial T10 league for disobeying their order to not use Pakistani cities’ name for their franchises.

It is pertinent to mention here that the SHC earlier this month forbidden the T10 League from using Pakistani cities’ name for their franchises.

The verdict from the Sindh High Court has been dubbed as a decision that will serve Pakistan cricket’s interest.

In return, the name Karachians was replaced by Sindhis which is again the name of one of the provinces of Pakistan.

The notice has been issued to the chairman T10 league Shaji-ul-Mulk, owner of Tensports Zahid Noorani, team owner Mohammad Imran and Junaid Khalil. They are asked to give the answer by November 28.

Earlier, PSL franchises had also expressed concerns over T10 League using the country’s cities’ names. They termed the move as “a mean attempt by a foreign entity to target Pakistani cricket viewership market,” though the league has no affiliation with the country. The PSL franchises have asked the board to pay attention to these problems before they get severe.

Furthermore, PCB chairman, Ehsan Mani had refused to issue Pakistani players No Objection Certificate (NOC) until he gets satisfactory answers about T10 League’s organisers.

India’s former captain and legendary batsman, Mohammad Azharuddin had refused to serve as the president of a talent hunt program in India for the ten-over league, citing reports surrounding the tournament.

The final between Northern Warriors and Pakhtoons has begun

NW are 12/0 * (1/10 ov), after Pakhtoons won the toss and elected to field

AD Russell c Mohammad Irfan b Shahid Afridi 38 (12b 3x4 4x6) SR: 316.66

Afridi the Olympian!

That's also the concept. Take out the middle overs so you only get to see boundaries.

They transformed the simple game of cricket into baseball.
It’s rubbish. A boundary is earned in a game of cricket, even T20s at times. This is like a bunch of madmen swinging their bat, hoping for the best. Play this at a recreational level, but international cricketers playing this devalues them IMO.

The shorter the format the more the entertainment. So this league is no short of entertainment. And it is fair to say Cricket itself will be dead if T10 gets success at the higher level (Which is likely it is going to happen). Less time, more entertainment = more money.

That's the thing. Players do not care they only see quick money.

Northern Warriors beat Pakhtoons to win T10 League title in Sharjah

A tournament dominated by big-hitting West Indian, English and Afghan batsman was finally decided by an unheralded Australian off-spinner, as Northern Warriors won the second T10 League title.

The side with the largest Caribbean contingent in the competition were indebted to Chris Green’s miserly spell of two for 11 from two overs as they beat Pakhtoons by 22 runs at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Given the high-scoring nature of the final, Green’s thriftiness was decisive. Pakhtoons had begun their pursuit of 141 to win optimistically, with opener Andre Fletcher striking the ball as crisply as he had throughout a tournament that had been a personal triumph for him. But when Green dismissed him, it drained the impetus from the chase.

Crowds of thousands had lined the streets outside the stadium more than three hours before the start of the final, with the stands inside already mostly full.

Before the gates had even opened, lines of supporters had snaked around the patch of land behind the petrol station, where the access route to the northern end of the ground is.

This being a national holiday, and with admission free to the two stands at that end of the ground, the mass of people was perhaps predictable.

Yes, there was a third-place playoff that preceded the final – which was won by Bengal Tigers against Maratha Arabians – but it was clear who the vast majority were there to see. The most visible shirt was the yellow of Pakhtoons – and, more pertinently, Shahid Afridi.

Afridi was successful in his first task for the evening. He won the toss, and gave Northern Warriors first use.

Chasing has been the preference for most captains on winning the toss in this tournament, but it still must be a daunting prospect when immediately faced with openers like Nicholas Pooran and Lendl Simmons.

Pooran has been in extraordinary form in this tournament. He came into the final with more runs than anyone else, and a strike-rate of 250.

His stay was only mercifully brief this time, but once he went for 18 from 10 balls, that merely opened the way for the power-hitting of Rovman Powell and Andre Russell.

Russell made 38 in just 12 balls, and was particularly savage on Liam Dawson, taking the Englishman’s first over for 27. One six would have endangered those still milling around on the road adjacent to the ground, while he also drilled a four straight back that knocked the bowler off his feet.

Powell was not out on 61 at the end of the 10 overs, and he hit the last ball of the innings for four to lift the Warriors to 120 for three.

Fletcher set off with full force, but fell to Green when he was adeptly caught by Khary Pierre running in from the long off boundary. That was the seminal moment.

Afridi, as is his wont, railed against the inevitable, hitting two sixes in a whirlwind seven-ball stay at the crease.

But when he was castled by a pumped-up Hardus Viljoen – which nearly sparked a confrontation between the two of them – it marked the end of Pakhtoons chances.
