Regardless of performance, Younus will play. The only reason he is selected apart from his blackmail to PCB through public media, that he can take in charge of one down position.

Maqsood is not suited for one down position. It is indeed between Maqsood and Umar Akmal. That being said, Misbah's influence cannot be underestimated.

Maqsood is 10000% more suited to number 3 then YK

Why is Maqsood not suited to 3? pls explain.
 
This is a warm up so hopefully improvements will be made as players adjust, but main problem is our batsman struggle to bat 50 overs on most days. So its impossible to score at a SR of above 90 for the middle order unless we have a great start.If misbah can get his strike rate to 80 and maintain his average then that will do for me.

Wahab is at 9. The batting order can not possibly be any longer than this. Bowlers need to play too. If it's not enough then that is on the batsmen to rectify. In other news, Afridi 0(1) has returned. :kakmal
 
Maqsood tries to pull frm the front foot and tries tmm many ariel shots, therefore an iffy prospect at 3

Including this game we have 6 games to adjust to conditions, acclimatise etc. Thats a good amount of games.
 
Misbah has done well in New zealand wen he has played.His unbeaten 96 to help us chase 280 odd was a great knock.
 
Watching ross taylor happy and scoring iz really irking me. After all he is the reason why we'll hv to contend with smiley man for the cup
 
I hope Shehzad, Nasir, Sohaib, Haris, Alam, etc. all score centuries here.
 
Afridi just a 100 short of the fastest century, no big deal.

Ahh, Misbah, second hundred he's scored in a practice tour game, I seriously hope he scores one when it matters either in the NZ jamodis or in the world cup.

Sarfraz gone for 19, depends if that was an edgy 19 or a 19 in which he looked confident. Still, just the opening game, has time to prove himself.
 
Sohail khan , Wahab riaz , Ehsan adil - These three are those bowlers who can score some quick runs too :D does that means that our batting is upto 11th ?
 
Yk is going to play the whole World Cup no matter what so pray he finds form and scores in every match from here on.
 
Tail is wagging. Glad we took Wahab / Adil over tool kit. That hack who calls himself self an "allrounder" couldn't crack 2 runs against Murali Maxwell.

We dropped shoaib akhtar in WC who was a bigger superstar in Pak and world cricket then him :) surely we can drop Younis 'useless' khan too

Misbah shouldn't be bashed for the sake of it. I think he is a poor captain and I am not really a fan, but today he did okay in the end and played according to the situation. Though finisher he ain't'.

Judging by his technique and his style of playing, he will be more comfortable as middle-order batsman, but i could be wrong. I would prefer him over Younus at one down position. But PCB will prefer experience considering a major tournament ODI WC is at play.
 
suddenly gone all quiet in this thread after the children finished playing in the puddle and noticed all their clothes were dirty.

misbah outscores everyone yet again whilst the other 'batsmen' were failing all around him yet again, and yet still he cops the blame from starry eyed fanboys with adverts of 'head and shoulders' constantly playing in their minds on loop.

As usual Misbah the only reliable batter, scores 100 when everyone else fails, Pak manage to make 300 and posters on here bag him. Lol.
 
Sir, he also scored a 100 against bangla boys before 2011 cup n that do of some 70 odd balls. What did we achieve with him in such great form when we actually needed him against india. This was a club lvl attack

Do u think this ton has made me change my opinion. Heck, even team man scored that beauty of a hundred last month against an international side. I wud hv happily accepted misbah, with all his negatives had he had the guts to oust smiley man. As it turns out he didnt n now we r the ones who r gonna suffer

It's not Misbah's job to exclude YK from the squad but selectors' job.

You keep saying the same thing over and over again and your 'sarcasm' is a bit repetitive. Maybe it's because you're new. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt due to the decent response. But everything isn't always Misbah's fault. Earlier your problem was that he wasn't scoring runs. Then when he is scoring, the SR is a problem. Then when the SR is 90, the problem is that he couldn't finish the match in Mohali. And on top of that, he is somehow solely responsible for team selection. Really? :misbah
 
Dude this is pakistan nt england. The team management selects the team. Ok If I agree with u for a minute, why was it his job to add malik to the squad against england, after the squad had already been announced. He also had a role in retaining sohail tanvir for the odi's against sri lanka in 2012. after all It was his last odi assignment, if he could nt take a stand now, when there was nthing to lose then he simply doesnt deserve to be the pak skipper
 
Most of these pacers are bowling in New Zealand for the first time, it will take them a bit of time to get adjusted to the conditions.

Wahab and Afridi have bowled here, Adil probably has in the U19's.

Afrid isn't a pacer. Riaz is probably the only pace bowler in the squad who played in NZ before, not sure if Adil played there before.
