Mohammad Zahid was born, on this day, 41 years ago. He has the distinction of being the only Pakistani bowler so far in Test history to pick up a ten-wicket haul on Test debut, a feat he achieved against New Zealand in November 1996. He is said to have been one of the fastest ever pacers, with Shoaib Akhtar claiming that Zahid was faster than him. He was 'unofficially' clocked at >100mph. His career was cut short by injury, however, and he sadly only played 5 Tests and 11 ODIs for Pakistan, taking 25 international wickets.

Really dont know how bad things were that we could not take care of bowler like Zahid!

A sporting tragedy that this guy did not fulfill his potential due to his injuries. Imagine Wasim, Waqar and Zahid at their peak in the same team??

Sad the way path this guys career went. We shouldn't underestimate the fact he was potentially a pace bowler faster than Shoaib Akhtar. Imagine having these 2-speed demons in your bowling lineup? PCB really let this guy down. If they would have given half as much care/attention to him as they did to Akhtar, definitely think it would have been a different story with his career.
