We really dominated from the word go, and Wajahatullah Wasti played one of the better innings of his career as well.

Highlights of the match were Akhtar and Razzaq's yorkers to Fleming and Horne respectively. What a bowler Razzaq was at that time.

250 didn't seem so easy at half-time, considering how poor out batsmen had been, in particular the openers had been.

NZ is a lucky side for us to meet in a WC semi-final. In our four final appearances, NZ has been the semifinalist 3 times. While in the fourth one, we beat them in super-8 stage.

Same can't be said about Champions Trophy though :yk :gul :rana :malik

Who is a better Pakistani ODI batsman?
Apart from Zaheer abbas

We are yet to find a opener of Saeed Anwar's Calibre.

On this day next year Pakistan will defeat India at Old Trafford with Fakhar Zaman to score a big hundred and Hasan Ali to rip through India’s batting.

India’s poor batting can not survive against Hassan and company.

Our ODI team was at its absolute peak. That was the finest squad we have had in our history. What a shame it didn't achieve what it should have.

One of the most one sided semi finals I've seen. However with hindsight it papered over the cracks.

The batting was dependent on an ageing Saeed Anwar and Inzamam-ul-Haq who had a poor WC record, along with some lusty lower order hitting from Moin and Wasim. In seaming conditions the batting was exposed, notably against India and Bangladesh, and in the final.

The bowlers carried that team, with Akhtar making himself a household name in the first half of 1999.
