No way hes 39 thats for sure. That would mean he retired at 31. Dont buy that one bit. That means hes only 3 and a bit years older than Shoaib Akhter

When I was a Kid I saw him debuting for Pakistan in Sharjah. Happy Birthday Vicky but come on he may be 45 but not 40.

It's no exaggeration to say that we may not see another bowler of his quality in our lifetimes. A true great of the game. Some of the deliveries in the video are simply breathtaking and bring back great memories.
 
Happy Birthday Waqar! Man, I can't believe he's just 40. I think he retired prematurely. He was a class bowler, and even though I didn't want him to succeed against India, he and Wasim gave me goose bumps bowling in tandem. I have watched several matches and clips against opposition other than India and have found that Waqar was among the deadliest bowlers ever. Thank you for all the memories, brother; you were an awesome bowler.

A lot is posted about Waqars Sporting Career on PP even now and before, so not a bad time to know a little about his life beyond cricket.


Younis was born in Vehari, Punjab in a Jat Muslim family in Pakistan. He was educated in Sadiq Public School in Bahawalpur in Pakistan, the Pakistani College (Pakistan Islamia Higher Secondary School) in Sharjah and the Government College in Vehari. He was raised in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, where his father was a contract worker. He returned to Pakistan during his adolescent years and there, he started playing cricket.

He is married to Dr. Faryal Waqar Younis, a Pakistani Australian. They have a son Azaan Waqar and a daughter Maira Waqar and now lives in Castle Hill in Australia.

if waqar and wasim heck even imran khan could do better then trundlers like :sami :sohail if they were to play in the next series
 
On This Day November 16th, 1971: Waqar Younis was born

Former Pakistan captain, coach and legendary fast bowler Waqar Younis was born in Vehari on this day. He turns 42 today.

The 'Burewala Bombshell' as he was known re-defined fast bowling and reverse swing. In effect, making him unplayable during his prime! To put things into perspective, more than half of his wickets were 'bowled' out, which in itself speaks for his ability to consistently to target the stumps.

It may have been well over 10 years since Waqar's last international game, but his bowling spells are pleasing to the eye.

I think his age was a lot older. Take his bday to 1966-67.

Punjab's legend - Waqar 'Vikky The Jatt' Younis is a genuine legend of the game.

Much respect from across the border from another Punjabi.

Never forget.

His in-swing was even more lethal than my ex's mood swing and thats saying a lot.
 
His brother Faisal let it slip on air today that Waqar is 52 right now! I guess that seals it — 3 years of fudging. Not as bad as I expected!

He was commentating during the Quaid e Azam trophy match live with Sikandar Bakht, and there was a conversation about whether he faced Waqar Younis in the nets. He said “unfortunately only at the twilight of his career, since I was too young and even now, I’m 36 and Waqar is 52.”
 
Thanks to God / and in whichever name he/she/unknown is or could be known to many communities across the world for giving us the gift of Vikki.

We asked for Killer Vol 2.0 but instead we got even better, a cross between Killer and Hadlee, talk about every man's fantasy from the 1970s.

Hard for some people to accept this fact but peak Wikki was and is the greatest sight of a fast bowler ever.

Having said that, Allan Donald the White Lightning is the greatest fast bowler ever.
