The master leg-spinner who pretty much put the art of leg-spin back on the map as an attacking option. He represented Pakistan in 67 Test matches where he took 236 wickets and 104 ODIs taking 132 scalps during a career which began in 1977 and ended in 1993. He also had the honour to captain the Pakistan cricket team in five ODIs.
Regarded as a top spin bowler of his generation and was included in Richie Benaud's Greatest XI shortlist of an imaginary cricket team from the best players available from all countries and eras. Former English captain Graham Gooch also said that "Qadir was even finer than Shane Warne".
