"Our cricketers who play all 3 formats of the game are starting to feel the fatigue" : Mickey Arthur
Mickey Arthur at a presser today:
"I was talking to Shinwari in the timeout as he is an international-class bowler and I think he's a very good bowler, he didn't bowl one ball over the wicket"
"His strength is running in and coming over the wicket and taking it across the batsman, but he bowled all his overs around the wicket into their hitting area"
"The expectation from me from international cricketers is that they just know what they need to do"
"His variation ball is the one where he comes around the wicket and that his how we work and train everyday with Pakistan"
"He did not come over the wicket, and not start over the wicket at all"
"So by default he is coming straight into their hitting areas and the margin for error becomes that much smaller"
"I just couldnt fathom that out and I wanted an explanation, I wanted to know why he did that"
"I will tell you one thing which is a bit of a worry for me and that is our players who play for Pakistan have played 4.5 months solid and we are starting to see that Shaheen Shah Afridi pulls up - that's a bit of a worry"
"Babar Azam's got a little bit of a niggle and that's a little bit of a worry"
"Shadab Khan's groin is starting to play up"
"Those are things that are starting to worry me and I am talking without my Karachi Kings cap, as a Head Coach of Pakistan"
"Because we have some tough cricket [coming up], we have a series against Australia and I am not talking out of school here as Inzi and I have been talking very very closely about it, that we are going to test our bench strength because we just need to find some time for our players that play all 3 formats to have a break, to go away and refresh themselves, otherwise, when we get to the World Cup and our key players for the World Cup start breaking down because we've played too much cricket so that is a worry"
"So I think we are seeing our cricketers who play all 3 forms of the game just starting to feel the fatigue"
"That's mental fatigue and physical fatigue and because of that, their techniques are suffering just a little bit"
"So the key [for KK] is to find that momentum and finding that winning combinations and form at the backend [of the tournament], so you slip right through and that often happens; you saw that in the BBL, with IU a couple of years ago, that's what kinda happens in this competition, so as I say 'Inshallah' we will find it very soon"
"Amir's been off colour and he is possibly in the same boat as everybody else due to 4.5 months of continuous cricket for these guys and we are going into the 5th month"
"The guys are starting to feel jaded, Amir is starting to feel jaded"
"We will freshen him up and we will get him ready as there is a big prize for us as we are a very proud franchise"
"Babar is a quality player and what I am now working on is to make sure he doesnt get run out"
"Its a real waste for all of us as he is such a good player"
