Shaheen

Harris, Malik, Wahab and Hasnain on the bench for the first game.

However, we will need to manage our players intelligently through out the games to minimize risk of injuries and keep players fresh.

Alhumdullilah we are in the fortunate position that everyone who played in the England ODI series seem to be in some sort of decent form, so we do have a reasonable bench strength.

Maybe switch Hafeez and Sarfraz batting position according to situation...Otherwise strong team though.

From the final 15 squad. this would be my lineup for the first game against West Indies:

1. Fakhar Zaman
2. Hafeez
3. Babar Azam
4. Haris Sohail
5. Sarfaraz
6. Asif Ali
7. Imad Wasim
8. Shadab Khan
9. Hassan Ali
10. Amir
11. Shaheen Afridi

Hafeez is not an opener. He will last any overs. He should bat at no. 6.

1. Imam
2. Babar
3. Fakhar
4. Haris
5. Sarfraz
6. Hafeez
7. Malik
8. Imad
9. Shadab
10. Hasan
11. Amir

It’s a batting heavy line up for 2 purpose - 1. To make sure that batting is absolutely full proof and top order (including Hari), doesn’t have any excuse to play slow and consolidate. RR must be above 5.5 within 5 overs and reach @6 by 20th over - even for the loss of 3-4 wickets. I want to make sure that Imam doesn’t need to safe guard middle order, rather focus on utilising the power play.

2. One bowler (pacer) is short, but WIN is the team for this combination. Malik, Hafeez, Imad, Shadab & Haris should be ready to bowl 35 overs. I have seen WIN struggling big time against spin and there is no reason not to expect that again.

Malik comes over Asif for his bowling. He is the only classical finger spinner (offie) in this side and WIN will play at least 5 lefty in top 7. For last 2-3 series, the way Miraz has troubled their left-handers, I expect full 10 overs from Malik, sometimes with a slip and he should get a 3for here.

Hasan must not open the bowling in any case - that means with Gayle playing, PAK must open with Amir & Hafeez in power play. Hasan should replace Amir after 12 overs and bowl in 3 spells - between 13-20, 30-38 and 45-50. Amir in 2 spells - 6+4.

This combination takes Toss out of equation - PAK should win batting first or second.

Honestly the only team more unpredictable that Pakistan is West Indies. In a bilateral series we would have them for lunch, but in a world cup? difficult to say.

Yup will need a bit of flexibility in the batting line up depending on the situation.

Inshallah our top 3 who all average 50+ can give us strong starts at a good run rate

Fakhar will definitely be dismissed for less than 10 at least 3 or 4 times. Let's hope someone else fires in those games.

Malik can carry drinks throughout

I need Haris at no.4 and Hafeez at no.6 and Shadab and Imad both playing.

The rest of the squad picks itself
