This aint gonna stop. It will continue. Overseas will continue to send money to their families no matter what nothing can stop this unless embasseys are closed.

Besides, in terms increase mnas, we have mor important issues than overseas. Like doing population count and adjust mna seats on those basis

And what then? Expats watch and rejoice seeing their families starve to death?! People need to get a reality check.

Individuals fly away from their families and work in godforsaken conditions in places like the Middle East for a better way of life, not because whichever leader is having a fit over political rivalries.

New saviours come and turn into incumbent despots before being thrown out by whatever means. Then the cycle repeats itself.

Irrespective of whose in power people continue to work and survive.

The minister told reporters that the cabinet approved the revocation of multiple foreign passports under Passport Act, 1974. The ministers stressed that such passports should not only be revoked but also a strategy should be formulated to prevent their use in future, she added.

“Last date for the cancellation of dual foreign passport is December 31 of this year. Till the date all procedural and administrative arrangements will be finalised to take legal action against dual foreign passport holders,” Aurangzeb said.

Overseas Pakistanis send money to their families; not to do “ehsaan” on Pakistan’s economy.

So they will continue to do that regardless of who is in power.

Ok so this is progress.

Overseas Pakistanis help their families to the tune of $32Bn, they therefore hold some stake in this country too.

But it does do "ehsaan" on the economy whether intended or not. All that cash ends up being spent in Pakistan for the most part, and that money circulates throughout and impacts businesses and livelihood through every level as a result. Don't think it goes unappreciated either, the vast majority of people in Pakistan aren't there to sing and dance hymns to India and Arsenal.

How many lives in Pakistan are effected by these contributions? I can understand the panic amongst the corrupt.

Overseas Pakistanis do not send money to boost the forex reserves, they send it to help their families. That is their intention and motive, and the fact that it is benefits the economy as well is a by-product.

If you are not living in Pakistan, you do not deserve to have voting rights. It is impressive to disenfranchise them.

If the government of Pakistan calls their bluff and scraps the dual citizenship policy, these fake Pakistanis will be exposed.

Hardly more than 10%, including the ones on this forum, will pick Pakistani citizenship over their foreign one. They claim to love Pakistan but their love is their foreign passports.

So if your loyalty and preference is another country than you clearly do not deserve to right to vote.

Secondly, we need to understand that remittance is just a first or second generation thing. If you moved to the west or if your parents did, you will have affiliation with Pakistan and will send money to your family back home.

However, your future generations will not be bothered to follow your footsteps because they will have no allegiance to Pakistan. They will be as interested in Pakistan as the Americans are in their European ancestry, so do such people deserve voting rights? Definitely no.

Just to be clear, I don't want any vote in Pakistan, whether others do that is their business. I am just calling you out on this crap about our money not being some "ehsaan" for Pakistanis, it clearly is, whether you like it or not. Even if it is only family members who get to spend the wealth, they are still Pakistanis, and it is still your country where that wealth gets distributed, and most will appreciate it - even those who self confessedly hate their own country don't.

When a person have ZERO info of how economy works, pure example.

But the people who spent their whole lives in London, US, Saudia deserves to be made ministers in our country :))

Makes perfect sense.

When a person have ZERO info of how economy works, pure example.

When a person cannot understand simple English.

I am not talking about the impact of remittance on the economy; that has been discussed already. My point is that overseas Pakistanis do not sense money to Pakistan to help the economy - they send the money to help their relatives.

Yes that money is circulated within Pakistan and helps the economy but that is not their intention or their motive. Their intention is the well-being of their family that they have left in Pakistan. Henceforth, there is no need of doing “ehsaan” on the country.

Furthermore, these overseas Pakistanis (excluding the poor and majbur laborers in the Middle East and the taxi drivers etc.) have taken their skillsets, knowledge and expertise to benefit another country and do their ghulami, so sending money to Pakistan is the least that these doctors, engineers, accountants, bankers etc. can do to help their homeland that they left.

Think about the thousands of doctors who have graduated from public medical colleges in Pakistan and then settled in the West for good because they make more money.

The government of Pakistan spent money on their medical education only for them to provide their services to NHS or the US healthcare. So what was the point of spending money on them if they weren’t going to work in Pakistan?

When these people send money to Pakistan, they are not doing any favors, they are only repaying their debt.

Makes perfect sense.

Not to mention, looted the Pakistan treasury and used it to buy their vast estates in London and Dubai, most of these assets which will probably get frozen should they ever go against their masters in the west.

You have spoken true words, writing long essay wasnt even necessary :) Their money HELPS our economy and thats the point. Whatever is their intention, is doesnt bother. For example, PDM intentions are to safe Pakistan, but what is reality? LOL intentions.

And han lastly, no need to poke fun at those people who study in Pakistan but find jobs in abroad, and no need to call them Ghulam as well janab, because you were once in foreign too and you yourself mentioned it.

So better, dont try to give certificates of Ghulami to others. And btw, you are against Ghulami but you are in favour of your beloved leaders too :))) Irony...

Remittance flows to Pakistan increased at an impressive 20 percent in 2021 to $31 billion, while in Bangladesh remittances grew by only 2.2 percent to $22 billion.

Growth in remittances was powered mainly by government incentives, support from migrants to their families back home, and inflows intended for Afghan refugees in Pakistan. High-frequency monthly data has marked a consistent downward trend since September 2021. Formally recorded remittances to Pakistan are likely to grow at eight percent to $34 billion in 2022.

SC calls for speedy justice for overseas Pakistanis
Suggests a separate judicial system be established in the federation

ISLAMABAD:
The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that special steps should be taken to address the rights and legal grievances of overseas Pakistanis.

Justice Yahya Khan Afridi issued the directive while hearing a petition of an overseas Pakistani against the Peshawar High Court's judgement in a property dispute.

In his judgement, Justice Afridi observed the need of putting in place exclusive measures to dispense justice and removing the obstacles hindering the ability of overseas Pakistanis to pursue their cases effectively.

He regretted that the Pakistani nationals living abroad suffered greatly due to delayed justice as recourse to the legal options was not immediately available to them.

The judgement further suggested that the federation could set up a separate judicial system similar to the one established in Punjab, citing the example of Lahore High Court’s (LHC) special cell to address complaints of overseas Pakistanis. It added that the model could be replicated in the federation as well as in other provinces.

The steps taken by the LHC and the Punjab government are commendable, the judgement said.

“Therefore, we expect the federation and other provinces to take similar steps as the Punjab government,” the judgement said, directing that a copy of the order be sent to the registrars of all the high courts for appropriate action.

A copy of the decision would also be sent to the federal and provincial secretaries of law.

It is pertinent to note that last year the Punjab government decided to set up special courts to ensure that justice may be dispensed to the overseas Pakistanis at the earliest, besides considering proposals, including allowing them to record statements in their cases through video link.

The special courts were aimed at ensuring that the cases of overseas Pakistanis do not go through any inordinate delay and there will be a specific time frame for deciding each case.
