What's new

Pakistan (138/5) edge past Sri Lanka (133/8) by 5 wickets in Super Four clash of Asia Cup 2025

Wasim just said, “from srikankan point of view, 10 runs an over will take them to 135. Will that be enough? Time will tell”

Talk about getting paid for doing zilch!!!
They get paid for their name, I think Malik is so much better at analyzing than most but definitely has bias.

SL need to score 25 in the last 2 to make a match of it. Pakistani openers Fakhar and Farhaan are in good form

Is Wasim any better? 90s was so much better at commentary, before that it was too robotic and after that too stimulating
There's one Pakistani commentator who is pretty good. Can't remember his name. Bazid maybe. Not sure.

90's was a legendary period. Commentators were good. Movies were good. Games were good. Sports were good. Cartoons were good. Everything felt classy and natural.

I am grateful that I got to witness 1990's.
I’m sure it’s bias too but best time for Basketball as well Jordan era, absolute dud now.

I think a mix of tech and real life is best way to go.. 90s was a mix

Agha's tactics are pretty strange sometimes. For instance, why no overs from Saim and Nawaz when Abrar returned figures of 1-8? Why is Faheem bowling at the death? Why Talat didn't bowl out despite being the best bowler tonight?

Yes but BD has gotten way too many times better of Lanka for me to not consider them as equals in LOI.
Them getting the better of Lanka means nothing when Lanka has consistently defeated stronger opponents then Bangladesh in multiple dens.

While both Bangladesh and Afghanistan need very very very specific and favourable conditons tailored to them to upset SENA teams.

Its also why they cant beat India cause India is used to Asian tailored pitches while Sena batters are obviously weaker at it.

All it means is that Bangladesh is better vs Lanka as Bangladesh happens to be their krypotnite.

NZ has consistently consistently gotten mauled by Australia on every occasion even during times when NZ was objectively stronger then Aus.

NZ in 2021 and 2023 on paper was stronger then Australia at the time. Aus was the 4th strongest odi team in 2023 and was in no condition to win the 2021 wc.

Yet Aus has consistently mauled NZ regardless of the bench strength. Likely cause Aus knows NZ like the back of their hand and understand their playstyle better then any other team.

Music was great too, real estate was afforadable and Richie Benaud was alive

Yup.

I still remember legendary commentators like Tony Greig, Michael Holding etc.

Even umpires were legendary. David Shepperd, for example.

1990's was full of life. Modern day feels soulless and lifeless.

Waqar should get a pay cut after a poor show as a commentator
Poor commentator. Was calling the AFG umpire first Azmatullah and then Izmatullah. His name is Izatullah. Wasim is bad as well. Just like me language limitation stop them to express themselves freely. But both live in AUS no? So should do better.

Bazid Khan, I like S Malik’s analysis too, every show he has been on its good.
Yeah Malik is good in shows. But I haven't heard him live. That's a different ball game - I bet even Sachin would be good in a postmatch show :jimmy. I would randomly bet on Malik though over SRT live.

Your NZ AUS analogy is exactly the reason why I think BD and Lankans are equal.. Lankas are strong on paper and yet lose to BD consistently.

BD also has done well recently against other teams, currently I do think they are equal(in this 2025 phase), just my opinion

That was a good yorker. He needs to bowl it more. His pace has gotten back but swing is still missing.
He won't perform against big teams if he doesn't get that swing back.

That’s probably true Gavaskar is someone who regressed, I agree its a diff ball game, I’m actually interested in seeing how he does in a live setting

Peak was calling Rachin Ravindra, "Rachindra Jadeja"

Reactions: IAJ
Fighting knock from Kamindu comes to end.. still not good enough he should have scored big in the last 2 overs

Last 2-3 years, BD have eliminated SL from quite a few competitions.

BD and SL are similar in white ball cricket based on results of last 2-3 years.

What are you talking about? He only looks good when there is swing on offer. Looks like a trundler otherwise like he did in the last match where there barely any swing to speak of

Shaheen has bowled mostly at 137-141 ks. Good pace.

He's also worked on his variations, seems to have developed a handy back of the hand slower ball too

only issue is that swing is still lacking. but at least good to see his pace up

He did bowl quicker today, could be he is getting his pace back but Dubai is not a place to judge Fast bowlers, it’s definitely a place to judge spinners, Abrar wannabe Hassaranga was trash last game.

He bowled wayward in the last match. He didn't bowl good lines and lengths. He should have gotten Abhishek Sharma out he induced that top edge but nawaz couldn't hold on to it.

Pace wise he is getting there but his big swing is still missing.

Had they bowled Nawaz, they would have bowled their overs in time and you wouldn't have the extra fielder inside the circle

Gavaskar's biggest achievement as commentator was that he was the flagbearer for Asia in Western countries. He used to take them down mercilessly, never awkward to out their double-talk, hypocrisies and poor manners when it came to Asians.

But then the IPL happened and they changed and he had nothing new to offer. He's also incredibly biased towards India which is painful to listen to sometimes. For me, Shastri has grown over the years. I'm not sure if he improved or I changed my biases towards him that made him more appealing.

Shastri and Tony were a great duo in 1990s.. I always liked him, he does geg little hyper but is good live.

I like Shastri's commentary. Possibly the best commentator from India.

Tony Greig is the best commentator of all time in my opinion. ATG.

Not Zimbabwe level. They are a mid-tier team.
They’re around our level.

Because the chasing sides are so favoured they’re under pressure to hit out to give them a huge total. As it’s hard to defend anything chasing.

Didn’t work for Sri Lanka today though.

I don't think pace is the issue for him in white-ball. He just bowls terribly when the pitch doesn't offer much help. Last match he was just bowling gun barrel straight, and got plundered mercilessly

Lol i always like whenever haris rauf gets a wicket. He is the proper fast bowler in the team and fastest in this tournament

We got lucky that Kusal Mendis got our early. he's a beast
