Not only Rizwan... in 2007 t20 WC final when India beat Pakistan, Shoaib Malik said at post match presentation "today we lost final to India, we apologise to all Muslims in the world. At that time, Irfan payhan's parents were very angry on shoaib

OK but if Pycroft is still the match referee what did the 1 hour delay achieve for Naqvi/PCB , have they at least been given assurances that Pycroft won't officiate on Sunday ?
 
If Pycroft remains, icc must have threatened pcb with financial implications to the their line.nothing else after this much drama .

ICC just needs to say, it was all India's doing, Pycroft did not instruct them not to handshake. He probably just said to Agha that if you don't handshake this is fine by me on this occasion, we will not blame you.
 
Hope PCB learns a lesson about what the role of a referee is and doesn't try to pull off stunts like this. They have better things to worry about like restructuring your domestic set up and try to become a force again. Hardly pak fans follow pakistan cricket these days .
 
Any way this is presented, it's hugely embarrassing for the PCB and Pakistan cricket. It's shown they have no power or authority in international cricket.

You needed this episode to know this? cricket is run by only 3 countries, with India almost all of the financial muscle, 5 year old child knows this.

They don't know how to handle crisis. Why did they cancel Salman Press conference after india game. He should have gone and said some **** politics talk too to counter this joker Surya.

If getting humiliated is an art Pakistan is the Picasso of it..🤣🤣🤣ICC should cut the expected no of overs delayed by Pakistan and only make them play remaining overs..they have created unnecessary burden on UAE players for the fault of theirs..
 
match referee mingled with india that was not gentlemanly but to boycott match over this is not good. Think of public as well. We want to see the match

Exactly. This should have been the course of action but Naqvi thought he could bully ICC like the way he does in Pakistan.

One can understand if he took a moral stance against Surya's antics although even that would have been over reaction but going after match referee is plain stupid.

I certainly didn't need to understand this but clearly the PCB needed this reaffirmation since they pulled this stunt without any self awareness. You would hope they learn from this and don't make a fool of themselves again.
 
PCB has managed to do what BCCI could not do - embarrass itself thoroughly. Now suddenly the narrative has shifted from the handshake to PCB failing to hold ICC at ransom.

Thankfully sanity has prevail and pak are not boycotting otherwise dictator naqvi was on the way to bankrupt pcb first with costly stadium renovation now denying much needed money from acc

Really hope we see these players play their natural game and get results tonight.

Not once have we seen a flying start since the Bangladesh series at home. Seems the plague of playing for your own place is ingrained into Pakistan cricket and there’s no running from it.
 
Naqvi is one of the worst chairman pcb has ever had.

He stopped Salman agha's presser just to throw these tantrums. Salman's presser was the only viable venue for a protest targeting surya, bcci and pycroft.

This is truly embarrassing moreso now with pycroft still in charge
 
The poor match official had nothing to do with this handshake fiasco. If the opposition didn't want to shake hands, what exactly could he have done - the game was played within the rules set up by ICC. It's not sportmenship like what India did but why go after this guy? If you really have balls, go after BCCI and go demand wtv you want with them. This whole thing makes pakistan look like bratty children. Honestly am all for no more Pakistan and India in any asia cup going forward. So much drama with these two, its freaking annoying.

Regarding a few Indians who are here just to troll—I even saw some posts in the Handshake thread.


To be honest, I actually feel pity because you guys are celebrating a small lollipop handed to you by the BCCI. At first, your entire nation was adamant about boycotting, but of course, India had no choice but to play.


When Surya met Naqvi, he faced tons of criticism and even death threats to his family on social media, so naturally, the team and the BCCI had to do some damage control.


But the reality is, the damage done during a skirmish can never be undone by such Bollywood-style tactics. And that’s a fact.


We Pakistanis should also understand this instead of showing disappointment over the handshake issue. Maybe In India, cricket and bollywood is solution of everything. Kek
 
The ICC’s match referee, Andy Pycroft, has apologized to the manager and captain of the Pakistan cricket team.

Andy Pycroft had barred the captains of India and Pakistan from shaking hands during their match.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had strongly reacted to Andy Pycroft’s actions.

Andy Pycroft termed the September 14 incident a result of miscommunication and apologized.

The ICC has expressed its willingness to conduct an inquiry into the code of conduct violation that occurred during the September 14 match.
