Pakistan (165/4) defeat Zimbabwe (108) by 57 runs to win the 1st T20I

The innings proved how badly Babar & Rizwan were crippling the team by batting in the top order. Like the openers were much better equipped today but there are even better options for the PP, yet, these blokes who don’t mind freeing their arms, helped Pakistan to a competitive total, could have been a match winning one was it not for Agha’s batting
I had to double-check the scorecard when I woke up, was that really Pakistan playing? Scoring 50 in the powerplay is unheard of with Babar and Rizwan opening!

Rauf these should be easy wickets for him,

From Pakistan team the irony is captain is the worst player I the side :cummins

Such a third class inconsequential low grade series. Is this what Pakistan Cricket has fallen too? The PCB and all the Pakistani senior players should have landed in South Africa a month earlier to prepare for that tour instead

In white ball: Muqeem > Faisal

I'm happy Pakistan gave chance to these two youngsters. We really needed a left arm wrist spinner option.
Actually its aqib who has brought these spinners i think sufiyan has cemented his place and booked a flight to south africa how you rate abrar looks good in white ball?

Post Match ceremony:

Sikandar Raza:

"Suddenly, to basically leak 40 or so runs in the last three overs of our bowling performance, I thought the momentum shifted. At 90-odd for two or three after 10 overs, you're backing yourself. But to see ourselves getting all out for 110, it's really a tough pill to swallow right now.

I've always said that you could correct these things in the nets. If we go back to our training methods, train smartly, and look at the conditions, we now know exactly what the conditions are like and what works best. When the ball gets old outside the powerplay, it's easy to just go in with intent and try to hit out. But unfortunately, the quality of bowling and sometimes the wicket does not allow that.

Upskilling ourselves is crucial right now. If you're not finding boundaries, focus on rotating the strike and building partnerships. Staying in the game longer will help. It's all up to individuals to raise their hands, understand where they've gone wrong, and correct those mistakes. I know we're very capable of that.

I always like to end on a positive. We bowled well. If we can drag the game for a few more overs, a lot of those positives won't go to waste. Unfortunately, to be all out in 15 or 16 overs takes away those positives. Hopefully, we'll debrief tomorrow, review where we've gone right and wrong, and try to improve on both sides of the game.

I felt a little discomfort, but luckily the doctor worked on it. We’ll assess it further with a fitness test tomorrow. Let's see how it goes. All the best to everyone. I hope we bounce back well."

Salman Ali Agha:

"I’m very pleased with that result. The way we started with the bat, the way we finished, and the way we bowled—it was an outstanding and complete performance. I think the next game will be similar because the ball doesn’t come nicely as it gets older, and we knew that going in. We planned accordingly, and I’m happy we executed it well.

It’s also very pleasing to see the youngsters coming in and making an impact. Their performances are outstanding, and hopefully, they can continue delivering for a longer period."

Pakistan comfortably win first T20I in Bulawayo

Pakistan’s new-look T20I side proved to be too good for Zimbabwe as they won the first match of the three-game series by 57 runs here on Sunday.

An unfinished 65-run fifth wicket partnership off 34 balls between Tayyab Tahir (39 not out) and Muhammad Irfan Khan (27 not out) lifted Pakistan to 165 for four. Zimbabwe scored 60 for two in their PowerPlay – eight runs more than Pakistan - but then ran out of steam to be bundled out for 108 in 15.3 overs.

Abrar Ahmed took two wickets in his second over, third of Zimbabwe’s innings, to finish with figures of three for 28, while Sufyan Moqim mesmerised the middle-order with his left-arm wrist spin bowling to finish with figures of 4-0-20-3. Haris Rauf took two wickets for 17 runs.

Pakistan had made an impressive start to reach 52 for one after the PowerPlay overs. They were then suffocated for runs as the next 11 overs yielded 69 runs for the loss of three wickets. However, Tayyab and Irfan put on 44 runs off the last three overs to provide some stability to the total.

Tayyab struck four fours and a six in a 25-ball 39 not out, while Irfan’s 15-ball 27 included three fours.

Usman Khan with a 30-ball 39 with two fours and two sixes and Saim Ayub (24) were the other notable run-scorers, while Omair Bin Yousuf scored 16 and captain Salman Ali Agha scored a 19-ball 13.

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza was the most impressive bowler, taking one for 14 from his four overs, while fast bowlers Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani collectively conceded 82 runs from their eight overs.

Scores in brief

Pakistan beat Zimbabwe by 57 runs, lead series 1-0

Pakistan 165-4, 20 overs (Tayyab Tahir 39 not out, Usman Khan 39, Muhammad Irfan Khan 27 not out, Saim Ayub 24)

Zimbabwe 108 all out, 15.3 overs (Sikandar Raza 39, Tadiwanashe Marumani 33; Sufyan Moqim 3-20, Abrar Ahmed 3-28, Haris Rauf 2-17)

One of the best top 3s pakistan has had in a long time
Omair Bin Yousuf? You’re overrating him based on some performances in emerging tournaments. This will end in tears. We need Mohd Haris, Fakhar or Sharjeel there.

165 was a good total on that wicket. Zimbabwe bowling attack is very decent on their own turf, they know how to grind down the opposition on these pitches. The late blast by Tayyab and Niazi was vital and match winning.

Pakistan won although at half mark Zimbabwe was looking dangerous. I am dead sure Zimbabwe would bat first next time if they won the toss

Omair Bin Yousuf is a brilliant talent the 6 he hit is as good as any shot in the whole game.
Tayyab Tahir has looked in really good form.
Sufiyan Muqeem is a fantastic talent.
