What's new

Pakistan [190/4] beat Afghanistan [189] by 6 wickets in the quarter-final of the Under-19 World Cup

huraira just made the effort of the decade ... saved 6 and almost made the flip catch.... unlucky he couldnt grab it on the flick but wow tht was a great effort ...

Qasim looks like a decent prospect.Bats in the middle order and bowls decent off spin.Pakistan do not have many good off spinners so he might be a good option in the future.

Good spin on offer. I hope it's not too bad when the Afghan spinners come on, especially Shafiqullah

Saif Badar, Iffti Chacha, Khushdil Shah to name a few .... i am seriously disappointed we havent given all 3 a chance .... shamefull to see malik and haffez sticking to the team like dry meat on a stick-pan

Saif looks the best among those three but among them only Ifti Chacha bowls right arm off spin.Anything over Malik and Hafeez please...

Dropped.
Amir Ali looks good but the pitch is offering turn and Pakistan have to face two quality leg spinners.

Lols a few poster here are more scared by their spinners than the players themselves. Take it easy. Let the boys play, Pakistan will win in sha Allah.

Qasim Akram giving at least one freebie per over (full tosses etc), he's very lucky that these aren't being punished

my goodness so much spin how can you have this in south africa ..there is no chance chasing i am afraid

What a catch by Rohail. Need to restrict Afghanistan to as low as possible. Alot of turn on offer. Quite surprising so much turn.

Tahir H and Qasim A have been pick of the bowlers so far, others have also been pretty good.

Apparently the average first innings score on this ground is 240 and average second innings score is 185. Definitely watch out for spin in the second innnings especially by Ghafari

Ijaz Ahmed misread the pitch

Should have had Arish instead of Abbass

These runs in the last 10 overs will be the deciding factor. 50 more runs and Afghanistan will be favorites.

Wait what 😂😂?

If Pakistan loses this match it won't be due to bowling. bowling pick are fine unless you want to dismiss Afghanistan under 100

Amir Khan needs to massively work on this run up

What is Rao Iftihar teaching these kids?

Pakistan keeping the tradition alive of having pathetic fielders

Why did PAK captain under bowl 5 the two spinners 5 overs, on this track? AFGs could have been all out for <160 here. Captain might be young, but where were the coaches? This game is nicely balanced now, intact AFGs are favourite considering Benoni is a traditional low scoring spinners track.

This is now a pretty decent score especially for a knockout match at this level. Pakistan's top order needs to step up here.

190 to chase.

On paper it looks easy but it will be VERYA challenging for Pakistan because the top order has not clicked in the World cup and the pitch suits spinners which Afghanistan are not short of.

Sensible approach would be to bat steadily and use the middle overs where
Afghan spinners are more dangerous at to take singles/doubles.

Really impressed with Tahir Hussein. Good height. Smart bowler who has the variety of deliveries in him. Action similar to M. Irfan and when he releases the ball - it is very M. Asif esque.

he has been ok wait till you see Tiagi of india..they should have got them out for less than 160 for sure i think this is too much

Arish should have been picked ahead of Abbas

This is a spinning track, two front line spinners would have been ideal

If Pakistani don't panic they should win this comfortably. No scoreboard preassure. But if they come out and start slogging this could be over quite quickly.

But, Pakistan will win it, we have a long batting line-up. Allah khair karey.

Commentators talking a lot about Afghan spinners - lets see how they perform.

i have seen them and their spinners are quality..left arm wrist spinners the lot i can even see them opening with spinners simple

Should be a straightforward chase if Pakistani batsmen are decent. It may be a difficult track but it's harder to set totals . Now they can chase with a plan .

I would really like the batsmen to smash the Afghan spinners out of the park but then i get flashbacks of the 2019 Asia Cup U19 game

Time for Haider Ali to stand up. He is one of the best young talents we have in batting and his WC hasnt been upto his standards.

Hurraira poor guy deservedly gets a chance because of injuries but he isnt an opener

Hurraira excelled in domestic U19 competitions however, watching Hurraira bat first time he looks pretty solid. Nice footwork and backlift.

He is playing his first U19 WC match and must be nervous so shouldnt be judged based upon match or two. Much better batting talent in this Pak U19 team than the last WC.

Completely agree you can see he has a technique and quality no doubt..ppl shoudl be selected on merit

Should be a pretty straightforward chase for Pak u19 unless Afg spinners conjure up something special.

Showing why hurrairah was the best U19 batsman in the U19 domestic tournaments

Hurraira with couple of really impressive shots post being given a chance. A lot of potential to work with.

Huraira playing quite well. 3 fours in four balls. Top scorer in the one day cup too, and is showing he can play off the back foot which would be amazing down the road for SENA matches. Want to see more though, hopefully keeps his wicket and doesn't give in to debutant pressure on a low scoring spinning track

PCB should invest more in batsmen than bowlers. None of the batsmen from last two U19 WC have made it to national team and hardly made it to PSL and FC teams.

Its amazing how Afgans keep on producing spinner after spinner.

True Omair Yousuf is the only one who excelled and if I am not wrong he wasnt enough opportunities in the WC. Now he is one of the young talents in domestic scene to look forward to.

Afghanistan's fielding has really improved over the years. Second best fielding side after India in Asia.

Irrespective of the result, some of the shots Haider and Hurraira have played are truly heartening to see. Hurraira needs to be part of one of the regional domestic team’s squad soon as surely focus, temperament and potential is there to work with.
