What's new

Pakistan [190/4] defeat England [185/8] in the 3rd T20I to draw the series 1-1

Need to improve death bowling.

Rauf almost lost it

Shadab (that one over where Moin clubbed him for three sixes) does not spin the ball much. So if he does not get the length right he can be spanked by any half decent international batsman. Even Shaheen failed to impressed today. He can be very wayward and expensive at times (cf. Sohail Tanvir)

In the end it was Wahab who saved us

I think biggest plus is haider. Seriously excited about this guy. I think we have found a potential superstar!! For all formats. I saw him in psl and thought wow wonder if he can do that for pakistan? Well here is your answer.. been literally screaming for his inclusion. Now I can loom forward to pak next outing..shows if uou are good enough, you are old enough. Naseem and shaheen look top notch also!!

pump the brakes. pump the brakes. Please staphh. don't overrate your players yet. Actually don't at all. Often always backfires.

let harder grow at his pace.

Not overrating anyone. Its just nice to have someone young who can hit sixes. He was the second biggest six hitter in psl. Thats a fact. Not hype. The cupboard is bare apart from babar so lets not pretend we have five bradmans waiting in the wings and haider will have to wait his turn

England are missing Roy, Buttler, Stokes, Archer, Wood etc.

We basically scraped to a win against England Lions.

How can it be a C team? It's not even a full B team it's a mix between England's "B" team and their "A" team. I don't understand how you can call that a C team, sure second string team because they're missing quite a few starters, however, calling it their C team come on...

Death bowling comes with experience, hopefully the younger guys like Shaheen, Naseem, and Hasnain can develop their death bowling. But man it's a far cry from the days we use to have Shoaib, Gul, and Wahab bowling at the death. Even now Wahab and Amir are by far our best death bowlers.

TBF Gul almost seemed like a natural at death.

TBF Gul almost seemed like a natural at death.

Yeah Gul is the best death bowler by far I have seen in the death searing reverse swinging yorkers at 140+, it’s a shame he regressed so early. Had he continued his 2007-2012 form for longer he could have ended up as one of our best white ball bowlers ever. He was so good in his peak at the death.

Wahab should’ve been motm and Hafeez mots

Tbf I could’ve seen it going either way. Because had Hafeez got out there no way we score more than 170, and obviously Wahab’s spell was game changing, when it looked like Moeen was running away with the game he pulled it back but either way.

Even in victory there are so many questions, like what is the point of Malik in this team? They're too scared to let him bat or bowl because it will expose his declining abilities. Also when can people stop overrating Shadab. He's not a match winner in any form at all. He might become a decent allrounder, if he starts taking things seriously and work hard. Also there must be better bowlers than Haris Rauf in Pakistan right now? He seems so lost at international level currently that it feels cruel to keep exposing his inexperience.

On the positive at least we've (basically Misbah) discovered that playing young batsmen doesn't need to be a huge risk when they show natural ability like Haider. Who knows we might even see more young batsmen in the near future... can only live in hope.

Mohammad Hafeez and debutant Haider Ali both hit half-centuries before Pakistan's bowlers managed to restrict England despite fireworks from Moeen Ali.

Moeen also found success with the ball, bowling Fakhar Zaman with his first ball to give England an early breakthrough. Babar Azam also fell before the end of the Powerplay, bowled by Tom Curran, but 19-year-old Haider Ali ensured the bowlers couldn't get on top.

After hitting his second ball for six, Haider continued to play with freedom and began to build a big partnership with Mohammad Hafeez. Haider brought up his fifty from just 28 balls, becoming the first Pakistan batsman to score a half-century on T20I debut.

Hafeez then took charge, racing to his own half-century from 31 balls before Chris Jordan bowled Haider with an in-swinging yorker to break the partnership, which was worth exactly 100 runs.

The 38-year-old batsman didn't relent however, and he ended the innings unbeaten on 86* from 52 balls with four fours and six sixes as Pakistan posted 190/4.

Shaheen Afridi removed Jonny Bairstow in the first over to get Pakistan's efforts with the ball off to a dream start, and Dawid Malan scored just 7 before Fakhar took an excellent boundary catch to send him back to the changing room.

A mix-up between Tom Banton and Eoin Morgan cost the England captain his wicket, while the young opener made liberal use of the reverse sweep to keep the score moving at a good rate.

Haris Rauf trapped Banton in front in the next over though, with the 21-year-old falling four runs short of what would have been a second fifty of the series.

Moeen Ali then assumed the lead role for England, while Billings looked to rotate the strike before skying a catch off Wahab Riaz. The all-rounder hit Shadab Khan for three sixes in his final over on his way to a 25-ball fifty, before Lewis Gregory managed to find the boundary from consecutive balls.

Another 10 runs from the 18th over left England needing 20 runs from the final two overs, but the experienced Wahab produced a superb over, conceding just three runs as well as scoring a direct hit to run out Jordan and taking a return catch to dismiss Moeen.

Tom Curran kept the game alive all the way to the end, hitting the penultimate delivery over cover for six to leave another maximum needed from the final ball. But he couldn't make contact with Haris Rauf's pinpoint wide yorker, giving Pakistan a 5-run victory and leaving the series drawn 1-1.

Just watched the highlights. Great game.

Haider Ali looks a great prospect. Has a bit of Rohit Sharma in him. Another exciting talent to look forward to. :)

Wahab >>>>>>>>> the overhyped Amir

Can't believe he didn't play the first two games.

Yeah, not a good way of responding to captain. May be rumours about him saying 'I don't need play FC to get into international side' are true.

He'll have to monitor his attitude if he wants to have an elongated career. A dressing room like Pakistan's might not take kindly to such behavior and he will have to bear the brunt.

Team with Bairstow, Tom B, Morgan, Moin A, Adil R, Malan is called Team C lol.
Anything to undermine Pak victory. Bottomline had some of the missing seniors been playing then the likes of Tom Bainton, Moin Ali, Tom Curran, Saqib M, would not be playing. And these players performed just as well as those would have done. They cannot fit everyone in the team. Some good performers would have missed out.

Yes Wahab was good in world Cup and last two PSL as well. They need to continue with him for T20s. Experience in bowling is important especially when you cn still bowl fast.

England are like man city. They have good enough replacements for all their top players. But their top team is still not th best team. India and australia's best team would beat them.

England's only advantage is their bench strength where they have capable replacements if their team sustains injuries.

Do you guys feel Wahab would have become a legendary fast bowler like Mitchel Johnson if he played under an aggressive captain. I am a big fan of his never say die attitude. But he played most of his career under likes of Misbah etc. I still his remember his iconic spell vs us in Mohali 2011 semi final.

Johnson is definitely not a legendary fast bowler

Rohit is Haider’s favorite player!

That’s setting a low bar for “legendary”.

Lindwall, Lillee and McGrath were Australian legends.
