Pakistan (193/2) demolish Hong Kong (38) by 155 runs and reach the Super 4 stage

Pakistan intelligently utilizing the slow and low conditions by bowling straight at the stumps.
 
India, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan need to watch out for Pakistan's bowling. You won't get much mercy from them that's for sure. They're relentless.
 
Safe to say Pakistan has the best bowling attack in this tournament. India might have a better batting line-up and Afghanistan might have a better spin-bowling attack. But I don't think anyone can deny that Pakistan has the most complete bowling attack in this tournament.

These same guys who were tonking Arshdeep and Avesh for boundaries the other night could barely get bat on ball against the Pakistani pacers.
 
What are these guys doing?

How in the world did they score all those runs against India?

Its a different pitch. Hong Kong did not consistently bowl the right length on this pitch. On a slow low pitch, you have to bowl straight at the stumps ruthlessly.

Batting as if they've never played cricket before.

Dubai wicket was better for batting. More pace, bounce on the wicket. This Sharjah wicket is a disgrace.

Which we did. Naseem quickly bouncing back from that wide ball was crucial. That's how small the margins are in t20.
 
Nawaz sure has become a crucial and core part of the team last few years. Solidified his spot in T20's, ODI's & looking like he'll do the same on the Test squad too.

Yes but even on that wicket 147 was a very chaseable target. The way Pakistani bowlers fought and took the Indian batting to the limit showed alot of character and grit. If Pakistan was chasing 147 against India in the same match I doubt the match would have been that close.
 
In all fairness Hong Kong's batting isn't too bad as seen with their performance vs India.

Issue is just how lifeless today's pitch is.

I reckon if Fakhar or Rizwan where to have fallen early today, we would have probably barely scraped passed 120 but I think that too would have been enough for a win :))
 
Lovely to see Shadab in full flow...bowling with guile and brains. Yes, the shot selection from the Hong Kong boys has been shocking on more than a few occasions but credit must be given to Shadab too who has completely deceived them,

Yeah it's a minnow, but it's important to win these games emphatically. Hopefully we will high on confidence for the India game now.

In t20i they have exceptional bowling firepower and batting is adequate.
First match against India was a hiccup. They should breeze through the rest of the tournament now.

Khushdil Shah`s little cameo was entertaining to watch, and Fakhar and Rizwan too massively improved the strike-rates of their innings towards their latter halves. Pakistan too good for Hong Kong, a huge win.
 
Heartening to see Rizwan make the flood donations appeal. The man's heart is pure gold

Pakistan entered the Super Four of the Asia Cup 2022 after a comfortable victory against Hong Kong in Sharjah.

The victory by 155 runs was the biggest margin of victory (by runs) for Pakistan in T20I cricket. Their previous biggest win by runs was against West Indies in 2018 in Karachi, when they won by 143 runs.

Hong Kong had a brilliant start to the contest, with Pakistan meandering around at 129/2 after 16.1 overs when Fakhar Zaman departed for 53.

But Khushdil Shah turned the momentum in Pakistan's favour, with a blistering knock of 35* in only 15 deliveries. His knock included 5 massive sixes.

Mohammad Rizwan dropped anchor, scoring 78* off 57 deliveries as Pakistan posted a big score of 193/2 on the board in their 20 overs.

The Pakistan bowling unit then did the job, as the pace of Naseem Shah and the spin of Shadab Khan proved too hot to handle for Hong Kong.

They were bowled out for 38, their lowest total in T20Is. Naseem Shah ended with figures of 2/7 in two overs and Shadab with 4/8 in 2.4 overs as Pakistan secured their passage into the Super Four stage of the tournament.

A heavyweight clash against India now awaits on Sunday, in what was a perfect preparation for Pakistan for the match.

That was just too easy. I could have put together a team consisting of my friends who would have done better the HK. Really HK was just a Pakistan Z side who could hardly hold the bat. Now for another clash in India on Sunday.

Didn't expect HK to get bundled out for 38. I thought they would reach 100-120.

That wasn't because of how good our bowling is. It's cause India has a weak batting unit with old washed up has been and irrelevant players. Any good team would have smoked us.

That had a valid point though. Far too often we have seen Pakistan score 65-70 runs in the first 10 overs, leaving the middle-order to score a 100 or so runs in the last 10 overs. To their credit the middle-order have done well to deliver on most occasions with numbers 4-8 boasting a SR of 152 since the last World Cup: the highest in the world.

But its not a strategy that is going to work everytime and could go wrong for us badly one of these days.
 
We have a mediocre attack for the main format which is test. Average at best for odi. Only good in t20.
