What I would say about Babar's batting is the ODI stats (mid 50s average and high 80s strike rate) don't match up to his true caliber.

He has feasted against underpowered and minnow bowling attacks. If you look at the last 2 x Asia Cups, last year's WT20 and in this World Cup, you can see he's not a top tier white ball batsman.

If he was regularly playing first string bowling attacks, his average would be more like 40 and his strike rate would be 80.

Going by this argument, you can even make Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharna look like mediocre batsmen

I'm not making it about performing solely in knockout matches. I want to see Babar perform at least 80% to 90% of his ODI career average whilst maintaining at least a high 80s strike rate i.e. 45-50 average and 85-90 strike rate as a minimum. But from what I've seen from him, he ain't that guy. He sits below Joe Root and Steve Smith in ODIs when you compare what they've achieved in their ODI careers up until now.

In white ball cricket, it's not just one tournament. He's flopped in the last 2 x Asia Cups. He was atrocious in last year's WT20, where he was unable to bat at run a ball and he's been bad in this World Cup as well.

He's nowhere near as good as our best white ball batsmen such as Inzamam and Saeed Anwar. I know Inzamam wasn't the best player in World Cups however back then the bilaterals, tri-series and Sharjah Cups were played against first string sides.

I like the analogy.

Mickey has certainly regressed as a Coach. He was good for Australia and South Africa. I thought he did a good job in his first stint as well.

The problem is he didn't want this job in the first place but Najam Sethi begged him who was even prepared to offer him a remote role . He would've seen Misbah take his old job and thought I'm just going to leech of Pakistan here, if they're begging me to come back and if I'm honest I don't blame him if he sees ex-players with no experience nor any coaching qualifications be appointed for the Head Coach role.
