I feel, there is a deliberate ploy by a group of people in position to keep Saud out of sight & keep few players safe. He had a bowling figure like 8-1-26-2 in last game & today I see he wasn't given ball before 36 overs; then again they are going to put him at 6, while Iftekhar at 3, again.

It's a joke isn't it. Making it in Pakistan cricket is the hardest thing.

Ifti shouldn't even be there. Saif Badar should. And Shan should be out for Zeeshan.

He is batting at 7 today.

Does anyone know who is the coach?
If I was Saud I would have withdrawn from team if I have to bat at no. 7.

Why is Ahmed Jamal playing ahead of Amir Yamin? The latter bowled well in the last game and is handy with the bat.

Other than M.Saad, the selection is decent. Shaan has an insane LA average. While he has gotten chances in the test team, he has not played an ODI as yet. Having him open in the A team makes perfect sense. Iftikhar also has a steller domestic record; that he hasnt made use of the chances given to him in the A team is on him. The selection was justified.

Some people should hide in shame for their incompetence regarding handling of Saud. He can be the perfect batting all-rounder to play in top 3 & being 5th/6th bowler - but that slot is booked for experience, I guess.

Awful selection - trust me; obviously if you think winning an A series is only objective, than I can't argue. PAK might win this series 3-0, but that doesn't tell what's wrong here.

Yep agreed. I believe the best U-24 talent both in batting and bowling should occupy numbers 1-4 and 8-11 spots in the A team. 5-7 i.e. 3 players could be the oldies to guide the newbies around. This should be the primary structure. Of course some tweaking should be done when a guy who is horribly out of form in the national team can come to the A setup and rediscover himself like Junaid Khan.

There is a world cup coming up soon. While we have about 8-9 players at least already with a firm place, we need to fill the bench with players ready to step-up right away. What is this concern about the long-term? Just find players who are good enough right now. Maybe after the worldcup we can start thinking about the player developlment overtime. People like Saif Badar and Zeeshan need to perform for another season at least before being selected.

play saud shakil at 4.

Muhammad Saad playing at SR of 63, his domestic stats show that is about par for him.

That I agree with. Saud should have batted at 4 but for that Rizwan should be blamed and not the selection committee.

Rizwan scored a century in the last match. I don't blame him for batting at 4. Its the two unmeritorious selections Ifti uncle and Muhammad Saad who are hogging the important spots.

If Muhammad Saad also gets a fifty Inzi will select him before Saud.

Really impressed with the progression of Moh Irfan jnr. Still a long way to go

Saud Shakeel should be inducted into national team as soon as possible. He's simply a run machine.

Saud should be batting at number 4 or 5 for us from our next ODI, but Inzi only selects if a player performs in PSL or is related to him.

What the heck? Why is Saud batting so low?
Well At least he is smashing the A team coach black and blue here. The coach should be sacked. Saud needs to bat at 4 in next Pakistan ODI.

Just hope we bat first in the next ODI, and Saud is allowed to bat at 4. Will score a century for sure, and after that you cannot deny him a spot.

Saj can you please ask the coach why did he bat Saud so low....be sharmi ki bhi koi had hoti ha.

Manay ifs snd buts, first batting, bat at 4 and century,,,would have happened today if he batted at 4.

It is atrocious that Imam with List A average of 42 got in the side before Saud who has list A average of 50+ after same number of innings. If that isn't nepotism I don't know what is.

Saud isn't an opener and excluding Malik, Imam was probably the only batsman who didn't embarrass himself in the Asia Cup.

No he was averaging 32 when got in to the side.

Just to be factual, Imam's List A average was approx. 34 before being selected.

32/72 to be precise, from 36 games (with ONE mighty SIX) & I am sure some of these games were also as Bhatiza, more than talent. Add to that 40 in 4 innings, in the running season, when he got the chance to bash SRL.

Sub kuch agaye peechay hai... even disparity between CB and NZC for Saud, Shaan and Abid. They all agree that Ifti uncle got out for 1 run tho :asif

The ideal #3 batsman for the ODI team, Younis Khan's true successor :yk

Irfan basically took our their batting. Man, he will become a major threat if they can get him to land the front foot.

A defiant 76 from BJ Watling wasn’t enough for New Zealand A to avoid a five wicket defeat to Pakistan A in their second one-day match at Nursery Oval, Abu Dhabi.

After being asked to bat first, Watling provided a steady hand at number four for the NZ A side and found a partner in Todd Astle (40), the pair putting on 57 for the sixth wicket.

New Zealand A made it through to 224, bowled out in the 49th over with Pakistan A’s Mohammad Irfan Jnr. taking 4/37.

The New Zealand bowlers kept scoring tight early on, going at under three an over for the opening 10 overs.

However, a couple of half centuries in the middle order ensured Pakistan A were ahead of the chase, four New Zealand A bowlers finishing with a wicket each, Astle again featuring with 1/32 from nine overs.

A solid bowling effort ensured the game went deep but it wasn’t enough, Pakistan A claiming victory with an over to spare, finishing 225/5.

New Zealand A’s third and final one-day match is against Pakistan A starting 26 October.

Someone should have quickly checked with Ul Haq - if he is aware of the MoM for today's game.

In 2016 I sat next to Inzi and watched Saud and Babar score 50's in a 4day game against Sri Lanka A. Thought Saud would have been a permanent fixture in A teams at least since then, but.....

But according to Aman Saud isn't worth wasting your breath on, because he didn't score last game. :))
I never said that, I thought it was funny how everyone was talking him up only for him to get out for a duck to Corey Anderson. I even pointed out it could just be a one off, too early to say whether he's the real deal or not, especially in a A level game.

Two clutch tons for Rizzu while chasing... should be in our ODI squad for the NZ ODIs.

I'd much rather have him at 6 than someone like Asif who would play an innings of 6 and out.

 Thought it was obvious now that Rizwan is not a No 6. Both these tons came at No 4. He is a top / middle order batsman m.
