Pakistan advance to the Super 4 Stage after Group A game against India ends in a "No Result"

Shorter game will suit India, however a 20 overs game would be 50-50 in my opinion.

Lets hope the match isn't abandoned.

if its 20 overs, would you open with riz and babar instead?

If its a 20 over game pakistan would need to get 155 think that might suit pakistan better

A 20 over game means 155 to win so how is it 50-50. If its 20 over game Pakistan have 80% chance which makes me wonder what made Rohit to bat when theforecast was it will rain in the evening.

Because this isn't a flat deck. A 155 target on this pitch can be tricky. Also add the fact that Salman Agha and Imam don't even play in PSL. Let alone T20I game.

21:26 Local Time, 15:56 GMT, 21:26 IST: The cut-off time for a 20-over run chase is 22:27 local time.

It is clear that Rohit is done and dusted. The man does not deserve a place in the team. He is too slow now and gets out lbw easily against left arm pacers.

Its too late to drop him now, but right after the world cup, Rohit needs to be shown the door. He has no place in T20's or ODI's.

Jaiswal needs to be drafted in ASAP. The same Rohit always chokes in high pressure games and age is not on his side either. Since Dhawan got dropped, then Rohit deserves no exception. He sucks now and wasting a space at the top.

No more game today...both team will get 1 point each

Whole LPL no rain
Afg vs Pak series no rain
SL vs BD no rain

Come Ind vs Pak - RAIN

Rain forecast even on 10th Sept in Colombo

:kp

All criticizing babar for not using the faster bowlers continuously or brought on earlier. But we all know what happened with nawaz left to bowl at the end. And also if the faster bowlers were bowled earlier, batsmen would have played smart and played safe knowing nawaz and shadab will be doing the bowling at the later part of the innings. Babar knows what he is doing

But yes wrong selection. They should have played faheem today. Im pretty sure we l be seeing faheem in the up coming games

Serves BCCI right for playing in Monsoon prone Sri Lanka instead of dry UAE

Sigh, game is going to be called off isn’t it. It looked to be an exciting one.

Babar could have picked another pacer instead of Nawaz. Made the same mistake in Melbourne.

They should play if its light drizzle. 20 overs for Pak to chase would be exciting.

I would rather see a 25-30 overs game than 20. However, the way it is, we will be luck to have a game now.

Ifti should have bowled you keep using diff bowlers.agha was economical at one time so i think he wud have been ok

Finally Indian middle order performed very well ,this is very good sign for next 3 month's
Biggest concern is a non-performing Rohit against quality attacks and Gill who seems to have lost his marbles since the WI series. Dude forgot how to bat.

India needs to reshuffle their batting order. Rohit and Gill should not open.

They will be fine when we play Pakistan on 10 September .We need to tested our middle order and they done good job

In a 20 over game would it be two new balls or one. What about a 30 over game

Look at the way Indian and Pakistani players are meeting and greeting each other. Now compare this with fans from both sides. 😆 :inti

Match called off, no result, points are shared, Pakistan are through to the Super Fours!

6 September – A1 v B2 at the Gaddafi Stadium. The match commences at 2:30pm (local time). Pakistan, if qualified, would be slotted at A1 and either of Bangladesh or Afghanistan will take B2.

I never saw gill performing on a bowling pitch apart from knocks in aus.He is having lots of technical issues. Every time, rohits batting became like a bonus tailender runs.

I think pakistan need to reevaluate their spin department. We need saud in for nawaz.

3 fast and 2 spin along with ifti maybe chipping in 1 or 2 is enough.

Spin cost us today, especially considering some patches played in pakistan aren't even spin friendly to begin with.

Actually its a win win situation for India. They got to bat against a top bowling side for full 50 overs and the middle order got tested. We have not played ODI cricket against a proper team for long time. It felt like weather came together to ensure Indian batter's get much needed practice :)

Yes good for Indian batsman but I was eagerly waiting for Siraj and Jassi to clean up Pakistan batting

India saved by the bell :afridi

We'll finish the job in round 2...

No wa
I am generally sceptical about Pak batting but I think this would have gone Pakistan way.
No way they are going to chase this total on a difficult surface. It's was neither a road like Pakistan pitch nor like NZ 2nd string bowling attack

He just became captain after 2019 and since then has gotten us to finals 2x and semi final once. Pakistan have been removed for lower unlike with sarfraz, misbah and shahid afridi.

Pakistan under babar only got lucky under the t20 world cup 2022 cause nedtherlands lands upset SA.

our performance in 2021 t20 world cup was goated, Australia just played better, we gave them a good fight, nothing wrong with losing in that scenario minus the hassan Ali drop catch.

Also babar has never captained a tournament in odi which is his best position.

Babar is a good captain, he cares for his team, gives them motivation and unlike shahid afridi, misbah, or sarfraz, younger team members actually aspire to follow babar, respect babar and become like babar due to his world class accomplishments.

He just needs to improve on rotating his team amd not stick to winning 11 combo, and learn to be a bit more flexible in game awareness.

But you guys rather would prefer Shahid afridi type players who will hit a 6 and then whole team will be bowled out for a 100.

Only exception is sarfraz during champions trophy 2017 which was pure luck.

South Africa game I guarantee was a loss if dls didn't give us the win. Sri lanka missed 7 run outs and dropped 2 sarfraz sitters 2x. England somehow collapsed and had a bad day.

And India match, Fakhar got lucky + amir gave us a masterclass + India has a habit of just chocking in important situations.

Champions trophy was dumb luck with fakhar and amir masterclasses and a bit of hafeez, malik and babar contributions in bits and pieces.

Indeed. It will also further instill confidence in the Pakistani trio that they can continue to bowl effectively against top oppositions.

TBH it looks bad more on Pak players.

Their board got bullied and the tournament was taken away from them.

India team refused to spot Pakistan in their jersey but Pakistan will have 'India' written on their jersey.

I am not saying Pak players should fight with Indian players but these OTT loves/hugs looks cringeworthy.
Serves Jay Shah right for looking like an absolute idiot for moving the Asia Cup to Sri Lanka during the monsoon season.

Absolute muppet and this reeks of corruption.

The whole Super Four round, besides the match in Lahore, will be washed out. The whole of next week is expected to have thunderstorms in Colombo.

Bring it on .if we can score 266 without top 3 then think if they will perform in next match then what will be happen to Pakistan
Why do you think Pakistan will let the top 3 and the rest get away with it next time?

Bring it on .if we can score 266 without top 3 then think if they will perform in next match then what will be happen to Pakistan
Waffle hypotheticals. If pacers can slice through your batting like a hot knife through butter, taking all 10 wickets for just 129 runs, then think if the spinners will perform in the next match what will happen to India.

These next couple months will be fantastic, Pak vs India ODI matches haven't been this competitive in a long time.

Looking at the weather forecast for next 10-15days, it’s rain all over Sri Lanka. Don’t tell me the greedy buffoons in BCCI didn’t know this.

Good for us actually, there was a fair chance for India to beat us,

Simply a moral victory for Indian middle order batsmen and Pakistani pacers. Babar's captaincy was below average TBH.

A) Key takeaways from this match.

B) Fielding needs to improve, Spin department needs improving.

C) We don't need nawaz

D) Middle order needs to be strengthened with saud and agha needs to start bowling all 10 overs. He's genuinely better then nawaz in line and length and a better batsmen, on spinning tracks he'll do good.

India vs Pakistan: A High-Voltage Clash Ends in Rain-Washout

In the much-anticipated encounter between arch-rivals India and Pakistan in the Men's Asia Cup, the weather turned out to be the biggest game-changer. The match, touted as the blockbuster tie of the tournament, unfortunately, ended in a disappointing washout due to persistent rain.

Earlier in the match, after winning the toss, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma chose to bat. The decision seemed to backfire initially, as Pakistan's pacers exploited the overcast conditions magnificently. India was quickly reduced to 66-4. However, the Indian middle-order, particularly the young and dynamic Ishan Kishan (82) and the fiery Hardik Pandya (87), showcased resilience and built a brilliant 138-run partnership, putting India back in the driving seat. This comeback was partially attributed to Pakistan skipper Babar Azam's surprising decision to hold back his pacers in the middle overs.

However, as India looked poised for a strong finish, a dramatic collapse, led by Pakistan's pace battery, saw them losing their last five wickets for just 27 runs. Shaheen Afridi emerged as the hero for Pakistan, claiming four crucial wickets, including those of Sharma and Kohli. Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf picked up three wickets each, resulting in the entire Indian side being bowled out by seamers, a first in Men's Asia Cup history. India eventually managed to set a target of 267 for Pakistan.

The second half of the game was heavily marred by rain interruptions. Despite several attempts to resume play and live visuals showcasing India's readiness to defend their total, the rain had the final say. The consistent drizzles and ground coverage meant that the much-awaited clash of titans had to be abandoned, leaving fans and players alike in sheer disappointment.

With this rain-washed tie, both teams earn a point each. Pakistan, having already secured a win against Nepal, now move to the Super Four. India will have to secure a victory against Nepal in their next outing to progress further in the tournament.

All in all, while the weather played spoilsport in what promised to be a classic, the glimpses of high-quality cricket by both teams left fans eagerly waiting for their next showdown.

We need Zaman Khan as our extra 4th seamer and shadab and Abrar as our 2 spinners only, and saud in our middle order.

Problem is idk how to incorporate that without having an extremely long tail.

Only way to incorporate it is to let fakhar go, but fakhar is such an impact player that the decision is controversial. But ideally it would be something like this

1) Rizwan/Abdullah Shafique
2) Imam ul haq
3) Babar Azam
4) saud Shakeel
5) Tayyab Tahir/ Muhammad Haris
6) Ifti Chacha/ Imad Waseem
7) Shadab Khan
8) Zaman Khan/ Abrar
9) Naseem Shah
10) Haris Rauf
11) Shaheen Shah Afridi

^^ But this playing 11 is flawed for obvious reasons. The tail is too long, and rizwan or Abdullah opening is risky. Plus I'm not sure about tayyab and haris yet.

Saud is a must in the team, don't know why babar has him as a water boy.

The same applies to Pak. Pak strength is its fast bowling. Pak hardly gets to play against a top side as much as Ind does. Pak fast bowlers have finished the game leaving many scars on Ind top order. It depends how one sees it. You keep an eye on your glass, and we shall see ours half full.

Its a huge win for Pakistan bowling and also Babar's captaincy, hopeful he won't make the same mistakes again which is a win for our upcoming games.

actually you should nt read much into India,s Middle over performance. Babar with his meek captaincy let them off the Hook. Pakistan had golden opportunity to bowl out India between 150-175.. any better captain would have applied more pressure after 66-4 considering not much to come after

Rain was main reason behind Rohit wicket as rain break the concentration of Rohit Sharma .those if and but are part of the game

People thought India's middle order is the problem when ironically its the Top order.

Sheryas iyer, Ishan Kishan, Rahul and Pandya make up a solid middle order.

Their issue is the Top order, Gill seems to have completly forgotten how to bat against pace as shown in the West indies series and today, he seems to have suffered from the fakhar zaman effect after a couple of killer performances, he was virtually a tail ender today.

Rohit is useless, can't play swing for the life of him, he's regressed to only being able to play over pitched deliveries on leg and offside. He can't play anything else. Lost his form since 2019. And kholi while good seems aged now a shadow of his former self.

The only issue is jadeja and the tail enders. The tail besides bumrah can't bat at all, like tail enders should atleast learn how to slog, Indians tail can't even do that. And jadeja is the most useless no 7.

This should be india's team.

1) gill( He'll regain form, I'm sure)
2) Ishan Kishan ( Must open for india)
3) Kholi
4) Sheryas Iyer
5) KL Rahul
6) Pandya
7) Surya ( playing at no 7 shpuld be t20 style batting, odi ain't his thing but it's better to have an impact player then jadeja who scores useless runs)
The bowling is fine as is, can't do anything about a tail that can't bat, maybe promote bumrah to no 8 though.

That is true..its all about how one sees it. But India's batting is far from top class. When you bowl against likes of Eng and Aust in world cup...it will be a totally different thing. India however won't face a better white ball pace bowling attack than this.

That's not true, rohit can't okay inswing for the life of him. The amount of times I've seen shaheen get rohit out on the exact same delivery is hilarious at this point.

Shaheen was overpitching that's all. Rohit has been done and dusted since 2019 sadly.

Ideally kishan should be opening, not rohit.

there is no evidence to suggest that. Rohit has been out of form in ODIs and got out many times to left handers with similar ball rain or no rain .and fact that India was cruising to get 300 plus again stopped by fast bowlers give us an idea that he should have given fast bowlers more opportunity between 25-35 overs. One more wicket and our spinners could have handled likes of Shardul or jadega even if they had to bowl at back end. India made a good come back in middle but like i said this does nt prove anything for Wc when india faces better captains or strategists

This was a ideal condition for any bowling team and India still scored 266 which is great things . overcast conditions, rain break which allows bowlers to take rest all were favourable for bowling side.

Before Shaheen, Amir got him out thrice in identical fashion. Proper dud vs swing.

Have you seen Rohit batting just before rain ? He was facing shaheen with ease and very well negotiated his first spell

It isn't great. Avg winning score here is 283. India were about 20-30 short. That after being fed generous quota of spinners by our kaptaan.
