Nope he didnt but he confirmed that he will be available before the match against west indies ,asif doesnt need warm up games as he is already acclamatized.

If Sarfraz gets injured/banned are they going to play with a back stop?
 
The treatment of Abid Ali is how we continuously decimate merit in this country. We have never allowed talent to mature itself. It's just shameful.

Inzamam saying that nobody was expecting a series like this shows how out of tune our selectors our with modern cricket. Every Tom, Dick and Harry who has followed cricket over the last 2 years would've known that England right now has the best pitches for batting but somehow our chief selector thinks this was something out of the ordinary. His team selection reflects his lack of basic knowledge.

This world cup will be won by who has the best bowling attack and when 350 is par, the team who has the best spinners will make a significant impression. The fact that we have loaded our team with fast bowlers and not a single spin bowler who spins the ball is a recipe for disaster. A proper spinner in place of Hasnain would've been better. Even Ibtisam Sheikh would've been an upgrade over Hasnain.

I'm probably one of Wahab's biggest critics but if he's a replacement for Faheem Ashraf, I can't see much fault over it. Any one over Faheem please. Plus Wahab is actually a much better batsman than Faheem.

Precisely. And that alone sets him apart. I mean, we've had the likes of Asif, Amir, Akhtar, Gul and yet it is Wahab who has produced our only memorable bowling performance in World Cup qualifiers.

He actually got saved by not playing in the series against England. If he had played he would also received a thrashing on the flat pitches and would go wicketless thus nobody will call for his inclusion in the WC Squad. But now while the others bowlers were getting hammered on lifeless pitches, Amir was taking rest only to be brought back under the excuse that other bowlers got thrashed while he has not given any performance to prove himself.
 
I mean our batting, one of the worst in the world, hit England for 340 runs in 3 out of 4 games!

This shows it was the pitch and the ground as much as the bowling.
 
I agree with people that say WR is very lucky to get picked but i am hoping that he proves us wrong because the rest of the bowling looks innocuous. Lets see how he does.

Squad is really good. Maybe Rumman Raees could have been added due to his variations. Also, Malik doesn't deserve to be in the squad.
 
Judging by twitter reactions most indians and foreigners seems to apperciate the decision of including wahab and amir
 
Obviously there will be some disappointments and Abid ali only had one game but what i have seen in last 10 one days i think this is the right decision. Shinwari is also hot and miss but both Wahab and AMir are better batters and fielders too one must remember...
 
What the hell lol where did Wahab come from? This is an atrocious selection. Even Umer gul would have been better than this spray gun.
 
Honestly UKS should've been preferred over Wahab Riaz.

Anyways we know what's gonna happen

We need someone to bowl quick bouncers at batsmans head ahd quick yorkers at their toes. Its the only way to get wickets on these flat pitches. So enter Mr. Wahab Riaz.
 
Are people concerned that Wahab might go around the park? What has happened to the rest of the bowlers?

Wahab was very good in the PSL and Pakistan Cup. Ultimately on these flat English tracks we are going to need some experience and pace. Very good decision by Inzi.

Yes bring bowlers that perform with the promise of big match performances. No wonder we are struggling so much in cricket now. We rely on fiction and fantasy enactment. Not facts and figures.
 
Astagfirullah.

This is so unbelievably harsh on Usman and even Junaid for that matter. This is where it seems like our selectors and some fans have a memory span shorter than a gold fish.

Anyway - whatever - thats the team/squad decided. Time to to back them to InshAllah bring home the cup!
 
Mashallah great decision by inzamam.I hope wahab becomes the highest wicket taker in this world cup too like he was in the previous world cup and he also bowled the fastest delivery in 2015 world cup.Wonderful decision to drop the ultimate trundlers.now i can support them.Go guys win the world cup.
 
Pleasantly surprised, tbh.

I guess the beating that our bowlers got, Wahab was a forced selection.

At least he can bowl a deadly yorker, and a pacy bouncer, both balls which can potentially get you wickets when batsmen are hitting out. JK was dishing out hit-me half trackers at 80kph, Wahab wouldn't do worse I'm sure
 
I hope Inzi, or any other selector (yes there are other two as well), has the courtesy to call Shinwari, JK and Abid to not feel hard-done by and be on toes if God forbid there is an injury to any of those selected

Wow! I thought Kohli & Co had put an end to Wahab's intl.career in the CT match by thrashing him all over park. But see who's back again in the Pak camp!!! I hope they include Wahab in the playing XI in the WC match. Who doesn't want an easy win? ;-)

This is shuffling the deckchairs on the Titanic. Wahab, Junaid, Shinwari, Faheem, Amir - none of these are the answers to our ODI bowling woes ! We've lost series after series with these guys forming our attack, and have mediocre numbers against the top sides.

Our selection committee needs to look outside these tried and tested faces but we keep going in circles.
 
in my opinion this is the best possible squad for the world cup based on available resources. i would have taken out hasnain and taken a punt on umer khan. but apart from that one change these are the most experienced and seasoned players we have. it is up to them to perform

It’s time to retire from watching cricket guys! Wahabs inclusion shows that Inzi doesn’t know what he is doing or selecting.

This Wahab guy will most likely prove to be costly at the most important time during the match. Just watch him spray, get thrashed and bowl no balls.. can’t wait for all this galore from this thrash phassssttt idiotic bowler with no brains.
 
What we really needed was to drop Yasir for another spinner and Faheem for some other bowler, not Wahab.

Bit of a surprise for this non pak neutral - selection of riaz...maybe they are looking for reverse swing....
what happened to that rumann raees guy...i thought he was decent....and yassir?
 
Wahab is an awful selection in English conditions. Faheem is rightfully dropped . Would have liked to see a specialist spinner selected. Malik is extremely lucky to be in the squad. Had he not been a senior he would have been dropped long ago.

Yasir was never part of the WC squad- he came in place of Shadab.

Agree to a point, but in fairness this was/is a very inexperienced bowling attack (read: new faces).
 
The penultimate over that Junaid bowled to Stoked in the 3rd ODI was enough to convince me that the guy does not deserve to be part of the squad.

Fair changes imo.

This is inevitable.

Nobody can stop it. Wahab and Shinwari are the biggest spray guns in world cricket right now.

Inzi being clueless again, he also knows we lack firepower in the late order yet he didn't pick Umar, lol.

Usman Shinwari has pretty decent numbers against Top oppositions, it's Hasan Ali who is the main reason for our bowling worries but keeps getting selected due to performances that were 2 years ago.

Also, what are new players doing? Hasnain isn't ready, Shaheen also looks under pressure. You can't take a newbie attack to a event like World Cup. There is got to be some experience young with players, who have played consistently for past 2-3 years.

One Asif Ali isn't enough, as shown in the recent series.

Any of his (inconsistent) contributions are also ruined by other accumulators in the late order.

We need one more batsman to partner him who can take on the pace bowlers towards the death.

What an absolute joke Wahab has been selected.

His last ODI played was 2 years ago when he played in CT against India and got absolutely destroyed. Before that, he was doing an excellent job at being terrible in Australia/England/NZ.

He won't pick up wickets, he won't contain runs, he will just be terrible. Shockingly dumb selection.
 
Is Wahab capable of bowling 10 overs?

My crystal ball what do see? I see Mickey beating up Wahab with a baseball bat after the first game.

Everyone thought that way about misbah ul haq but there was no relationship there
Maybe it’s just a way with former captains of Pakistan’s

Not sure why Wahab Riaz has been selected, other than to keep hasnain and amir in the team
Might make a good waterboy

Two years ago in CT17, the saviour used his reverse swing, experienced yorkers and gave away only 87 runs in 8.4 overs at an economy rate of just 10.03.

Then for Pakistan sake got injured.
 
Wahab conceded 110 in 10 overs when England scored 444/3. He was the most expensive bowler that day. Just because he has pace does not mean that he's going to do better on flat pitches when there is ample evidence against it. On merit, Shinwari should have been selected who has the ability to pick wickets.

Inzy had a golden opportunity to include a full-time spinner but it seems like at this point for selectors it is either Yasir or none.

Faheem and Junaid should be dejected. All the bowlers went for 8+ RPO yet only those two were shown the door. Hassan, Shaheen, and Hasnain kept their places while Aamir got his place back despite putting in zero effort.

Overall a good squad with the exception of Wahab's selection over a specialist spinner.
