Even when they make a century it’s a small one

Seems like get a milestone and your jobs done

Azhar showed some pedigree for big scores but dude has declined to such an extent that even a 50 is a miracle these days.

Younis Khan in his last stages of his career scored a double hundred in England and 175 in Australia than these guys are doing right now.

Yeah. YK was a brilliant test batter. His retirement and Azhars decline have made Pakistan a weak batting side.

In reference to Babar, yes he’s above average against spin but he’s not more proficient facing the quicker bowlers.

The point is he could have got out before he reached three figures.

As for Asad Shafiq, he’s a mental midget who has yet to score a big hundred. Personally I define a big hundred as a 150+ score.

Didn’t someone get a double last year? Haris?

Shafiq has always lacked appetite for big scores. Azhar had it but is finished now as a batsmen. The others have been struggling converting their starts.

This current batting line up has good potential from Azhar ali to rizwan, they all can be big century makers . The only thing they lack is planning & batting in pairs which when they get they will start winning matches in SENA countries..

For big hundreds you need fitness and temperament , unfortunately Pakistan lack such players in the team right now.

To be able to make Big Hundreds they need to first score a hundred.

After batting twice in this test, only Babar Azam made a century from Pakistan. That's it.

To get big scores you need to consistently do it. Our domestic pitches don't allow batters to bat for long periods . The games are done in around 240 overs or so .

Batting is something you need to keep on doing to improve.

Sorry this post is a little disingenuous.

Firstly Lyon is one of the best spinners in the world and on a wearing pitch with the kind of back up he has he’s always going to bowl with threat confidence and swagger right up to the dying minutes of a game. Which means batsmen just have to have the stamina and concentration for long innings. This comes with time and practice.

Asad is not a mental midget. For ten years the poor guy has been living out of a suitcase away from family and friends and home ground support. Not playing loi cricket or leagues around the world. And with modest income there’s always the threat that he’ll get dropped on a whim by selectors. These players are not just playing against the opposition but also their own board

As for the opposition in Cummins stark Hazlewood you have glen McGrath type bowlers x3 plus Lyon. This is the best attack in the world right now in conditions perfectly suited to them. Moreover if these three quicks were to retire or be injured tomorrow there’s another three playing LOI who are still better than our seamers and more match ready. This is the kind of confidence that comes only once in a generation and Australia are hitting the right notes at the right time.

The reason we can’t play long innings is that our whole set up and not playing enough on quality home pitches has not allowed for long innings and going through steady gear changes. Too much emphasis on loi has meant that 100 is considered a good landmark. Against this Australia team it sure is but we need to develop confidence stamina and concentration to go on and on. Our domestic game has to improve significantly to allow this to happen regularly enough for the players to toughen up.

Fawad joins a long list. Make a 100 and then get out before 110
