Pakistan today beat India in the Asian volleyball championship to finish 7th in classification round . It's an achievement considering Pakistan team was not even sure they would participate and thus only had one month of training. The last edition they finished 12th

During their campaign in group stage Pakistan registered wins Agaisnt Indonesia and Kuwait

How ever in second round lost their matches and played in classification round against India today were they won 3- 2 in sets

Pakistan will take part in the Asian Olympic qualifying tournament along with 7 other nations in which the winner of that tournament will qualify for be Olympics directly

We were 12th a couple years ago, a 5 place improvement with next to no money is very impressive. Close games with the teams we lost to as well.

Our volleyball team is doing well, last time I checked, they were ranked 66th Internationally. There is a lot of potential in this sport as it is very popular in our rural areas. Our volleyball federation should look to initiate a league on the pattern of PSL, perhaps use PSL brand names with the consent of team owners to avoid the hassle of brand building from scratch. Professional broadcasting and marketing can do wonders.

Aimal Khan(c) and Murad Jehan are star material, with proper marketing they can turn into household names.

Aimal has to be among the best outside spikers in Asia.

Pakistan has a lot of potential in this sport but one problem they have like in any other sport is the finishing aspect when they play Australia in the quarter finals Pakistan was up 2-0 in sets and blew it losing 3-2

Even today vs India they were up 2-0 and almost blew it as well hopefully they can work on this moving forward
