Pakistani Canadian billionaire met with Imran Khan and his team and said he was very interested in investing in Pakistan.

How awesome it would be if Shahid Khan could gather a group of investors to build brand new STATE OF THE ART cricket stadiums in Pakistan.

Building a stadium? Why, that would make zero investment sense.

It would only be used for FC and List A matches. An occasional PSL once a year.

So..why would anybody do that. There are many other opportunities though.

Shahid Khan has zero affiliation or concern with Pakistan. He considers himself a full fledged American.

If he had such poor business acumen and propensity to make investments with pitiful returns, he wouldn’t have become a billionaire.

Everything's not cricket related. He could've had other things in mind if he did indeed show interest.

This we can agree on.

Pakistan needs to start exporting, this is a guy with a connection to the country who saw a gap in the American market and became a billionaire out of it. That's the sort of thing he should be helping us with, not building some silly colloseum which we won't even be able to fill most the time.

Many thanks to PTI for posting this informative video about business magnate and proud Pakistani American Shahid Khan :salute

For those who are in the dark regarding mega investments in sports arenas, it would behoove “half glass empty” posters to carefully read this New York Times article explaining why business savvy investors have made successfully financial inroads in sports arenas. This model could also be implemented in Pakistan as a return on investment spurring a domino effect leading to job creation via a multitude of businesses, ie, shops, restaurants, cafés, etc. which in turn would complement the sports arena while boosting domestic as well as international tourism. Astute businessman such as Shahid Khan are well aware of how to gain profitable returns on one’s investments - and today he is a success because of his lucrative investments. He has an amazing team of financial advisors who make sure that his business plans or thoroughly and fully researched before making any sound business decisions.

BTW, it’s quite surprising to see such limited knowledge about returns on investments by some posters here with no insight into the billions of dollars made in sports infrastructure and in the sports industry. There are many successful examples of investments in this area. As this article points out, otherwise countries such as England, Germany, Italy the USA, Canada, etc., and yes even India would not be so overly invested in sports and its infrastructure if they did not get profitable returns on their investments.

Isn’t he the same guy who wanted to buy the Wembley Arena?

Ok thanks!

I think he may be interested to help Pakistan with the Naya Pakistan Housing Society scheme...

I believe he started off with car parts so perhaps could try to kickstart some type of transport or vehicle related businesses. Seems like a nice chap tbf but his son was pretty clueless in regards to Fulham FC. He bought players because he liked them and didn't look at the team and which areas needed improving. For Fulham Fc it was their defence which didn't improve one bit all season.

Shahid Khan got rich cause he manufactures car bumpers and autoparts, his company Flex-n-Gate is worth billions of dollars and they have plants in many different countries, his investments in sports is very recent and that's not how he made his wealth. Instead of asking him to invest in Pakistani cricket, the govt should ask him to open up factories in Pakistan for his autoparts business that will help create jobs and bring in revenue through exports but cricket-obsessed members on this forum can't see anything beyond building a stadium :))

Well yeah you are right he started off with selling car parts.

Hasn’t Fulham FC relegated this year? Seems logical to me after what you have told me.

Yes relegated. Shahids son controls the club, he spent over £100 million on players but still failed. Shahid needs to understand you cannot just put your family into important positions in business esp football. I think Fulham will come back up but if they dont this season it could take years before they do.

Bit unlucky at times, Mitrovic started really well for them and sadly Jean Serri never worked out for them, Barca and Liverpool were seriously interested in him but for whatever reason he struggled in the premier League.

Also that penalty incident didn't help their cause.

When the mayor of London visited Pakistan a year or so ago Shahid Khan was part of the delegation that went along with the mayor. So he clearly has some affiliation and/or concern with Pakistan.

You can take a pakistani out of pakistan, but you cant take Pakistan out of a pakistani.

Unless that pakistani is Tarek Fatah or Adnan Sami :smith

Adnan Sami is a sleeper agent. You just need one command to activate him and he gets the job done :))

WASHINGTON: A Pakistani-American, Shahid Khan, has emerged as the 66th richest man in the United States in 2020, with a total worth of $7.8 billion.

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos is number one for the third year in a row, followed by Microsoft founder Bill Gates at number two.

The Forbes list of 400 richest Americans, published on Tuesday, estimates Bezos’ total worth in 2020 as $179bn. Gates has about $111bn and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has $85bn. He is the third on the list.

The year’s biggest gainer, in percentage terms, is Tesla founder Elon Musk, who is an astounding 242 per cent richer than he was on last year’s ranking.

Tesla’s stock rose 520 per cent by the time Forbes took a final measure of net worth on July 24 — helping add $48.1bn to Musk’s net worth since last year’s list.

Musk was the 23rd wealthiest person in America on the 2019 ranking, worth $19.9bn; this year he’s up to number 7, worth $68bn.

Shahid Khan, the only Pakistani on the list, is an engineer by trade. He immigrated to the US at age 16 with $500 and a plane ticket. In 1980, he bought auto parts supplier Flex-N-Gate from his former employer.

His design for a one-piece truck bumper was the basis for his success; the company now has 64 plants worldwide and over 24,000 employees. Khan made his first billion at Flex-N-Gate.

In 2019, Khan launched All Elite Wrestling with his son; it aired its first weekly show in October 2019 and inked a four-year contract extension with WarnerMedia in January 2020.

Khan also owns the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, which he bought in 2012, and UK’s Fulham football club, which he bought in 2013. He is a major financial backer of Black News Channel, a 24-hour cable news channel, which launched in February 2020.

US President Donald Trump is now the 275th richest person in America — that’s 16 spots lower than in 2019 and 119 places lower than where he was before he became president.

Forbes notes that Trump’s branding businesses are in steep decline. Real estate developers are no longer signing up to put the Trump name on their properties.

Forbes estimates that Trump’s real estate licensing business, which is further limited by his pledge not to do foreign deals while in office, is worth about $80 million today, down from $170m a year ago.

Forbes notes that even the Covid-19 pandemic could not prevent America’s 400 richest from making more money in 2020. They are now 8 per cent wealthier than last year, with a record collective net worth of $3.2 trillion.

They added $240bn to their coffers in this pandemic year, “aided by a stock market that has defied the virus”, Forbes notes.

Still, 25 billionaires who were on the 2019 list fell below this year’s $2.1bn threshold, two more than last year.

Furious Fulham fans urge Shahid Khan to reconsider £3,000 prices

Fulham fans pen open letter to Shahid Khan to reconsider next season prices
Plans revealed this week will charge supporters as much as £3,000 next season
The price is to seat in the Cottagers new £160m redeveloped Riverside Stand
Fulham fans have urged owner Shahid Khan to reconsider the price hike for 2023-24 season tickets, after a plan to charge as much as £3,000 was revealed this week - leading to some fans suffering 'distress and anxiety'.

The Premier League club's new proposals were announced on Wednesday - with the Cottagers plotting a staggering 18 per cent rise in price for three sides of Craven Cottage - as well as charge up to £3,000 for their new Riverside Stand.

The west London outfit's price scheme has angered supporters - with the Riverside Stand, which is due to be fully open ahead of next term, stirring up most of their fury.

It would become the most expensive seat in the Premier League without hospitality, coming out at £157-per-match.

The Fulham Supporters Trust have accused Khan of causing 'distress and anxiety' and have penned an open letter to the owner urging a rethink over the new prices.

'The pricing structure has caused distress, anxiety, anger, and disillusionment among a significant proportion of our loyal fan base,' the trust said.

'Seats priced at £3,000 appear to be among the most expensive non-hospitality season tickets in football worldwide.

'We believe this pricing structure is out of touch with the financial realities facing many of our loyal fans. In the Riverside Stand, we ask that the pricing model is significantly revised. Its pricing ostracises the vast majority of fans from ever experiencing it.

'Sustainability comes from sporting merit, driven by vocal fans, which will deliver better results than turning Fulham into a club that only the wealthy can afford to attend.

'Despite undertakings to consult on season-ticket pricing, there was none at any stage.'

Their anger was further fuelled by the club asking fans to pay by Tuesday, April 18 if they wanted to purchase the most expensive seats, and given only six further days if the wanted season tickets in the same stand at a cost of between £1,250 and £1,450.

Fulham feel their general prices are low by comparison with similar Premier League clubs, having risen by an average of two per cent over the past 20 years.

They have also stressed that they informed supporters that they were buying a seat for only this season, due to the still unfinished building work, and these are new prices, not a renewal figure.

^ Its robbery.

Sure most Fulham fans living in the area can afford this but most dont live in the posh area of London.

The owner should make some statement regarding this.
